emphasized their policies of inclusion inclusion. >> i think when someone comes out as a bigot, people will recognize them as a bigot and behave accordingly. they're defeating their own purpose. >> reporter: today governor mike penn spoke to the indianapolis stars saying he will support legislation that will ignore the new law. he said it's a misunderstanding driven by misinformation. >> no. i wouldn't spend money in indiana. >> i was going to go to a meeting there next month and i'm not going to go. >> reporter: governor pence noted 19 other states and the federal government have adopted rfra laws similar to indiana's. in san francisco tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. san francisco mayor ed lee has already banned all official official city travel to indiana in protest of the new law.

police in hayward are looking for a man who tried kidnapping a teenage girl at gun point. she was walking home from school when she was pulled into the back seat of a man's car. the man pointed a gun at the girl but she fought him and got away. >> i keep my eye out for cars that look suspicious. you know? better be safe than sorry. >> the girl gave police enough info for this sketch. hispanic or east indian man in his mid-20s wearing a hoody. police are investigating whether he's the same suspect in two other recent kidnapping attempts. a walmart store in san leandro was evacuated tonight after a fire. it started inside the walmart on davis street. the fire was knocked down. crews used fan to blow smoke out of the store. no one was injured. a man was shot and killed this evening near a playground at a san francisco park.

police say the man was found with several gunshot wounds near geneva avenue at 8:00. the victim was taken to the hospital where he died. no arrests have been made. in vallejo, a man was found critically wounded in the laundry room in an apartment building this evening. he was shot multiple times. he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. a man injured in a fight overnight at mid tavern and lounge in san jose has died. the man was driven to stanford hospital where he died this morning. police are investigating, but have not classified the incident as a homicide. a motorcyclist was killed in a crash on occidental road in santa rosa this afternoon. the highway patrol said a car turned left directly into the path of the motorcycle kaerk two people. the motorcyclist died. his passenger suffered critical injuries. a passenger in the car was also injured. new calls are going out

tonight for rent control on the peninsula. >> someone has lived here for 20 years, and is being kicked out and has no affordable choice in this community. that is not justice. >> members of the st. matthew catholic church held a rally to protest rising rents. many working families are struggling or being priced out of their homes. they're asking officials to put in rent control throughout the county. >> one family just down the street received a rent increase from $1,000 to $1700. so right now the family is working extra hours. >> the county board of supervisors talked about rent control this week but given no sign it is leaning toward making changes. we're turning now to our warm weather. a lot of people out today in berkeley. enjoying the sun this afternoon. and in san francisco hundreds of penal packed delores park. we head to drew tuma for a first check on weather and live doppler 7 hd.

>> certainly a taste of summer on this saturday. record highs in a few locations. take a look. san rafael tied a record of 81 degrees set back in 1969. napa toasty at 83 degrees. that ties a record. oakland, a new record. 79 degrees, besting the old record of 76 set back in 2003. livermore tying a record of 82 degrees. the taste of summer is going to lead into our sunday weather as well. we'll take a look at the warm numbers in the forecast in just a few minutes. matt? >> thanks drew. nearly two dozen people were injured after a commuter train hit a car in los angeles. two cars derailed. danielle has the details. >> reporter: a chilling train/car crash in los angeles, adding to a list of such collisions across the u.s. a car was making an improper turn right in front of 9

university of southern california. the impact all but demolished the silver hyundai. miraculously the driver was still alive. >> we used the jaws of life to extricate the driver. the single driver in the car. >> reporter: also injured, the train operator. and 19 passengers. jolted from their seats as the train came to a sudden stop and the first two cars jumped the tracks. >> we would classify them as walking wounded minor injuries. >> reporter: this is at least the seventh train/car collision in the last two months. six people died in february when a train slammed into an suv at a crossing. last month a driver got stuck on the tracks. abc news, new york. dramatic in you video of a cliff rescue. this morning the california highway patrol sent a helicopter to rescue a man in yosemite international park. he and his friend took a short cut. they made it out.

but bates got stuck and spent the night at the edge of a cliff. you can see the relief on his face after this rescue. he built a fire to survive the night. san francisco's newest police station is dedicated to going green. abc 7 news was there when the new southern district station opened at 3rd and china basin street in mission bay today. the building uses solar power and has beams that help with heating and cooling. it can operate up to 96 hours off the grid after a major disaster. a nail-biting finish. just in the last few minutes. the oakland boys had a 65-64 victory over modern day. the bishop o'dowd girls won the championship on friday. in division 2, the girls from san jose also won today 53-31. we'll have highlights of today's games ahead in sports.

>> we got here a few days early to see the sights and everything else. everything else is pretty much dedicated to wrestling. >> reporter: this 21-year-old saved all year long for his wrestle mania trip. wrestle mania is bringing a big financial boost to the entire region. in santa clara 100% of hotels have no vacancy. here in san jose 90% of the hotels are sold out. an estimated $140 million will be spent in the area during this event. santa clara's mayor is also using this chance to prep for super bowl 50 next year. >> this is going to give us a real opportunity to refine our management and transportation plans even further than we have this season. >> reporter: city leaders are focusing on transportation and security plans. abc 7 news. an oakland artist who died in an apartment fire last weekend were remembered today by friends and family. he created many of his works

raising awareness of climate change. lights on the bay bridge were flipped off just before 8:30. they stayed dark in honor of one hour for earth hour. in golden gate bridge, lights went off there. participants are encouraged to turn lights off as a simple way to encourage conservation. more than 162 countries and territories were part of this year's event. takes a lot of discipline to keep the air conditioning off this weekend. we check if with drew tuma to see how the forecast is looking for tomorrow. >> matt, you'll likely have the ac on again tomorrow. the summer-like temperatures are sticking around for the second half of the weekend as well. we had clear skies for much of the day today. that will continue into the overnight period as well. open up the numbers on this 28th day of march, yes it is spring but these numbers feel more like summer.

good evening. thanks for joining us. i'm matt keller. singer songwriter norman greenbaum is recovering after a crash in the west bay. he was a passenger in a car that turned in front of a motorcycle in santa rosa this afternoon. two people were on the motorcycle. one of them died. police in hayward are investigating the third attempted kidnapping in five weeks. in the latest incident, the man was armed trying to take a 16-year-old girl walking home from hayward high school on walford street. the girl fought him and got away. a two-alarm fire in san leandro cleared out a walmart store. firefighters ordered

evacuations. no one was hurt. a number of new developments tonight in the deadly germanwings crash and the co-pilot appears to have done it deliberately. he sought treatment for a potentially career-ending vision problem. german media said investigators found antidepressants in search of his apartment. late today, leaked transcripts reportedly from the cockpit voice recorder were posted online. new questions have risen about whether lubitz was fit to fly. >> i don't think a psychological screening method is going to be the best. making sure no fewer than two people in the cockpit is the best methodology. >> search crews held a moment of silence before resuming their grim task of recovering bodies in wreckage in the alps. rescue workers are searching through the rubble of three collapsed apartment buildings in the east village. a growing suspicion that the blast may be the result of

tampering with a gas line. just 75 minutes before the blast, con ed workers had been in the basement of the building where the explosion occurred. giving it a failing grade. dangerous conflict is brewing in yemen. saudi arabia has been leading air strisks on rebels in yemen. yemen's president just left his country after losing his ability to lead. he has the support of arab leaders who are calling for a regional military force to deal with the conflict. the rebels are backed by iran. turmoil in nigeria tonight. boko haram extremists killed 41 people and scared hundreds away from polling stations in an apparent effort to disrupt elections. however, millions of nigerians still made it to the polls and voted. an american and two russians have arrived at the international space station. scott kelly and one of his russian counterparts will stay

almost twice as long as a standard mission. part of kelly's mission will include studies of extended time in space affecting the human body. many people do it. you have a bad meal, you don't like the service so you go straight to yelp and vent. now rebecca jarvis tells us businesses are fed up, and some are fighting back. >> reporter: for this popular restaurant in millbrae california, named wonderful, it's not uncommon to find a line of waiting diners. but one unhappy patron claimed he spoke to a waitress to be seated posted this negative review on yelp. it's not that classy a place but they refused to seat me. surprise. the restaurant owners looked at surveillance video. >> he never spoke to any server. he walked in took a look around and just left within 22 seconds. >> reporter: the post going viral. many applauding the restaurant. but there's a whole other type of business backlash against bad

reviews that's completely backfiring. >> smelled bad. >> reporter: when robby checked into this hotel for a wedding, he gave it just one star. the hotel e-mailing robbie that his negative review would cost the just married couple $500. by print the bride and groom had apparently missed when they signed their contract. backlash ensued and later on the hotel expressing in a statement embarrassment, claiming the policy was in fact a joke. in some cases businesses have even taken the extreme step of suing reviewers. yelp said the law is on the side of the consumer. >> they have a right to express their opinion and accurately and truthfully describe their experiences. >> reporter: as for that restaurant in california, the owners are not boiling over one negative review. saying they would happily welcome dan to a meal anytime. rebecca jarvis, abc news, new york.

a 4-year-old girl is back home safe after she went on an overnight adventure. surveillance video shows her getting on a bus at 3:00 a.m. a passenger flagged down the bus. he called 911. other passengers on the bus comforted the tiny rider. >> what did she want? >> all i want is a sluchshie. >> thank god for the bus driver stopping. i will buy you a slushie. promise you the next time you'll wait for me okay? >> yeah. >> annabell is okay. they didn't know she had awoken and unlocked the back door. still to come, an overpriced ride that has nothing to do with surge pricing. a man pays for a cab ride with a credit card and gets billed $500 by mistake.

a cab ride in san francisco can be costly. but $500? it happened to a marin county man. 7 on your side's michael finney has his story. >> reporter: six-mile cab ride in san francisco, turned into a seven-month-long ordeal for ortiz of san rafael. >> seven miles. >> reporter: it began last july when he hailed a cab downtown dropped a friend and took the same cab fair. >> the fare was $17.60. i told him to round up to $22. >> reporter: he paid with a credit card swiped on the cabbie's cab. >> i signed for it. for the charge. >> reporter: it all went smoothly, until the next day. when luis got an alert from chase bank that said he was

charged $500 edd $522 for that taxi ride. >> i thought that's got to be a typo. >> reporter: he disputed the charge figuring it would be an easy fix. then came the real shock. the bank said he had to pay $522. >> which is unreal. >> reporter: the merchant refused to reverse the extra $500 charge. saying the customer was present at the completion of the ride to authorize, swipe and sign for the total $522.22 charge. >> they say the charge is valid, because there's a signature. and, therefore, there's nothing to be disputed here. >> reporter: luis was determined to track down the cabbie. but how? all he had to go on was the memory of a red and green taxi. and this mysterious merchant name on his credit card bill. it said, sq taxi 1512. >> i didn't know who sq taxi 1512 is.

there's no address, phone. >> reporter: finally luis contacted 7 on your side. turns out sq stands for square the mobile pay company that processed his cab fare. they insisted the charge was correct and would not identify the cabbie, citing privacy rules. so he tried the municipal transportation agency which regulates san francisco taxicabs. >> within ten minutes an investigator was calling me back. >> reporter: turns out it's the cabbie's medallion number. they contacted the driver contacting luis saying they had made a big error. they wrote a check for $522. mouncy did not want to go on camera. he said i must have hit an extra button by mistake. i would never do this on purpose. taxi drivers want happy customers. luis said it won't happen again. >> i will have cash. that's the answer.
