mid-80s. i'll pinpoint the number and talk about a cooler week ahead coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. our breaking news comes from almeda county where the chp is looking for a hit-and-run driver who skimmed a pedestrian on the freeway. it happened just after midnight on eastbound 580 on the hayward san leandro border. officers say the person was hit in the number tulane. they don't have specifics about the car or the victim. the lanes were shut down but all lanes are now open. there's more backlash from bay area business leaders against indiana controversial religious freedom restoration act. the legislation signed last week by indiana's governor promotes

after 7:30 last night in the kitchen of macdonalds on davis street. the sprinkler was activated and the fire was knocked down by. about 10% of the store was damaged. no one was injured and no word whether the store will reopen today. san francisco police are investigating a fatal shooting near a playground at a local park. police say the man was found with several gunshot wounds at crocker amazon park last night. he died at the hospital. no arrests have been made. and vallejo a man was found critically wounded in the laundry room of an apartment building yesterday evening. it happened on hillborn avenue. the victim was shot multiple times, once in the head. he was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. a motor psychist was killed

in santa rosa -- a motorcyclist was killed yesterday afternoon in santa rosa. they said he turned directly into the path of a motorcycle killing two people. it did not stop in time hitting the car. a passenger in the car was also injured. >> new calls are going out for rent control on the peninsula. >> someone has lived here for 20 years and then is being kicked out and has no affordable choice in this community. that is not justice. >> members of the st. matthew catholic church held a rally last night protesting rising months. many working families are struggling or being priced out of their homes. they are asking to put in rent control throughout the county. >> one family down the street received a rent increase from 1,000 to $1,700 so right now the family is working extra hours. >> the county board of supervisors talked about rent

control last week, but no action has been taken. now to a dramatic new video of a cliff rescue. yesterday a helicopter was sent to rescue a man stranded in yosemite park. kevin and his friends took a shortcut on the trail friday night. they made it out but one got stuck and spent the night at the edge of a 320-foot cliff. you can see the relief on his face after that rescue. he had built a fire to survive the night. san francisco's newest police station is dedicateed to going grown. the new southern district station opened in mission bay yesterday. building uses solar power and as active chilled beams to operate

off the grid after a disaster. next sunday there will be a trap replacement project in oakland. agency needs to replace 3,000 feet of worn rail 1000 aging wooden ties between two stations and they will do it over the course of 11 spring and summer weekends. it willness state stopping service while the work is being done. >> if you have an alternative use that all aarontive on those weekends that we have the work going on. get a ride from a friend, ride your bicycle, whatever. but we do have the bus service that will be providing trips for free between those two stations. >> he said the disruptions will be planned around events at the stadiums. wrestlemania 31 is just hours away at levi's stadium. last night some very big men

operator and 19 passengers. jolted from their seats of the train when it came to a sudden stop and the first two trains jumped the tracks. >> we would classify them as minor injuries. >> this is the seventh train-car clash in the last two months. february a train slammed into an s.u.v. at a new york crossing and the operator of another commuter train in southern california was killed last month when a driver got stuck on the tracks. abc news, new york. an oakland artist who died in an apartment fire last weekend is being remembered by friends and family. daniel moe thomas created art with objects he collected secondhand. many loved ones were there to remember him and put up his art for display at the mcloughlin gallery in san francisco. >> i think although he was in an emerging state of his career, he

had a lot of important significant things to say about the art community. >> another celebration of thomas alive will be held today at classic cars west in oakland not far from where he lived. hundreds came together at fort mason last night to help families cope with childhood cancer. the 21st ankers art inspiring gala benefits children with cancer. it gives children with cancer an opportunity to attend an adventure. cheryl jennings was there to be part of the fundraiser. abc7 has been a long time supporter of the camp. using your cell phone while traveling overseas want get pretty expensive. but what if you don't use the phone at all? no she did not. she contacted "7 on your side" and we looked into it. turned out she didn't realize she was silently connecting with global data networking as soon as she lefts the trip because she never turned off the roaming feature on her i-phone when she had no idea it existed. >> i'm not tech savvy. i understand that. my experience and wisdom doesn't keep up with all the velocity of she's technological advances. >> we showed her how to go to settings and click roaming to the off position. we also contacted verizon and they agreed to cancel all but $25 of those roaming charges telling us we work with the customer directly to resolve the issue to her satisfaction. >> the airplane mode, which i did not know about. >> susan is relieved and still trying to figure out all that is going on in this little device. >> i think the technological

shuttle buses are already in service this morning in san francisco, taking participants to the transamerica rock n' roll half-marathon. it ends as civic center plaza. there are lots of street closers. thousands are people are expected to participate in the race. organizers this year have set a strict 2 1/2 hour time limit for runtories finish. the roads will reopen at 10:00. what kind of running weather? >> cool out there. we have 40s throughout the bay. tracking fog around monterey. other than that it is a clear start. the low clouds and fog absent for the next 24 hours and will become more patchy in the days ahead. aiding in a cool-down. but the on shore flow with us

today keeping the coast cool in the 50s. no rain to track this morning. sun comes up at 7:00 ask sets at 7:30. nearly 12 hours and 30 minutes of day light. just shy of that. exploratorium camera looking at 52 degrees in san francisco. 47 morgan hill. half moon bay 41 degrees. and a few from the roof camera. it should be a nice day today although nowhere near where we should be for late march early april with temperatures 10 to 15 degrees above average. 352 concord. this is a couple of days cooler than yesterday. it's pretty chilly out there. emeryville starting out in the 40s and 50s, depending on where you are. clear and cool. warmer today around oakland and san jose getting close to some records. and over the next seven days temperatures will come down. come back up a little bit but now we aren't looking unfortunately at any rain. a big dome of high pressure with

us today, allowing for another day with temperatures very warm. in fact, we will be look at the warmest day of the week today. so that onshore flow should kick up tomorrow and we will see some cooling in response to a system that pushes into the pacific northwest. that will begin to bring the temperatures down tomorrow, tuesday and into wednesday. not all that much. we are looking at highs in the 80s today in san jose. look where we should be, in the upper 60s. dropping a good ten degrees tomorrow. and the coolest day should be tuesday and wednesday with a bit of a recovery, but still notice above average all throughout the week. so highs today in the south bay. it will be warmer by a few degrees. and perhaps some records. 80 around morgan hill, 83 gilroy, 78 in sunnyvale. 77 in mountain view. and breezy, but with the sunshine. fog will be away from the beaches. but it should be pretty mild from the sunset to daly city

>> hey, carolyn, good morning to you. temperatures in the 40s and 50s with mostly clear sky. although it's going to be a typical sunny day for this late march day and summer-like day with temperatures with a wide range from the coast with 60s and an john shor push. 54 fairfield, 49 in livermore. we will be looking at a little bit of patchy fog here and there. temperatures will remain cool at the coast. we will worm up again today with numbers above average. in fact we will see some 80s in the inland east bay with mid-70s around the bay and the 60s just confined to the beaches. i'll have those numbers for you in detail in a few minutes. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. new this morning from the west african nation of begin any -- guinie that the ebola is over. there's been 3100 case there

since august. the health emergency places restrictions on burials. all internments must be secured by the red cross. citizens have become less and less vigilant. a number of. developments this morning in the deadly germanwings crash and the co-pilot believed to have done it deliberately. 27-year-old andreas lubitz sought treatment for a potentially career-ending problem. they found antidepressants in a search of his apartment and leaked transcripts reportedly from the cockpit voice recorder were posted online. meanwhile new questions have risen about whether he was fit to fly. >> i don't think a psychological screening method will be the best. making sure two people are in the cockpit as a rule is the best methodology.

>> at the crash site yesterday search crews held a moment of silence before resuming the grim task of recovering wreckage and body in the the alps. an air canada jet made a hard landing and came off the runway. everyone was able to make it off the plane but about two dozen were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries. you see snow blowing and piles of it on the runways. air canada officials say the weather may have played a role. in yemen saudi saudi arabia continues to target scud missiles in yemen. they continue to cross into saudi arabia. yemen's president left his country after losing his ability to lead. he has the support of believers who are calling for a regional

military force to deal with the conflict. it's believed the rebels are backed by iran. next month could be a big one for presidential candidates to formally announce their run for the white house. sources tell cnn senator marco rubio will likely launch his bid. last week texas senator ted cruz became the first prospective contender to make his bid official. and on the democratic side cnn has learned hillary clinton is planning an april launch as well. however, if clinton doesn't run, this has been, martin o'malley might. the former maryland governor is someone who could potentially challenge clinton. he will appear later this morning with george stephanopoulos on "this week." and you can see "this week" right here on abc7 at 8:00

following good morning america weekend. a russian and an american are aboard the space station following yesterday's arrival. they will spend 342 days in the orbiting laboratory. that's about twice as long as a standard mission. the trip is n.a.s.a.'s first attempt at a year-long mission. part of kelly's mission will include studies how extended time in space affects the human body. many people do it. you have a bad meal or you don't like the service, you go straight to yelp and vent. this is the world that we live in today. but now abc news reporter rebecca jarvis tells us businesses including some in the bay area, are fed up and some are fighting back. >> for this popular hunan restaurant in milbrae, california named "wonderful." it's not uncommon to find a line. waiting diners. but one unhappy person posted

this negative review on yelp. it's not that classy a place burks they refuse to seat me. surprise the restaurant owners looked at surveillance video. >> he never even spoke to any service. he walked in he took a look around and just left within 22 seconds. >> the post going viral. many applauding the restaurant. but there's a whole other business backlash against bad reviews that's backfiring. >> smelled bad kept the windows open the entire time we were there. >> when he checked into the hotel for a wedding he was so disappointed he wrote a yelp review and gave it one star. how he tell e-mailing him that his review would cost the just married couple $500. the bride and groom had apparently missed that when they signed their contract. backlash ensued, and later on they claimed embarrassment and

good morning to you. the cool spot at 41 degrees. so 24 hours ago the coast was much milder. in fact, it is 13 degrees colder right now. feels colder for novato because it is. same deal with livermore. and hayward to the san carlos airport. feels a little cooler. the dewpoints lower this morning and we don't have much in the way of moisture because of a strong north wind allowing for a pretty well-mixed atmosphere. that's why i'm not expecting much fog. there could be some but overall we will be clear and some of the patchy fog from the san mateo coast. a little warmer today and we will see still dry conditions the next seven days with temperatures up today, down a few, and then up a few. we will go over it in the next couple of minutes. it's a big dome of high pressure protecting all of the west coast. we will look for numbers today still as much as 10 to 15 degrees above average. so we should see plenty of 60s for late march.
