have turned it into a giant pac-man game and you can even do it for your street. so, lots of fun to be had this morning. but we are going to begin with severe weather, heavy rain in oklahoma overnight causing a lot of flooding. high winds and hail across the south and rob marciano here to track it all. >> really. >> that flooding, some of that came 5 inches of rainfall in just a short amount of time just south and east of oklahoma and had cars stranded there. also this hail, incredible stuff coming out of bryant, arkansas, that's a pool with heavy hail coming down. that looks like a turbocharged hot tub. had several reports of baseball-size hail across parts of oklahoma and arkansas. the threat today extends from kansas up through nebraska, getting across into iowa, even southern minnesota and, look, again for some strong winds and some large hail. a possibility of a few tornadoes but the main threat will be in the form of wind and hail. tomorrow, though,we slide things a little bit east. maybe a slightly higher risk of seeing tornadoes tomorrow and this will continue to push off to the east on friday. we'll also be talking more about

the wildfire threat, lara, in california a little bit later in the show. >> all right, rob, thank you so much. turning now to the latest on that plane that crashed in the french alps. the airline now admitting it knew about the co-pilot's severe depression and this morning new questions, could there be a video from inside the plane taken just before impact? abc's david kerley is in washington with the latest on the story. good morning, david. >> reporter: good morning, lara. two publications, one in france and one in germany, their editors say they've actually seen this purported video of the final terrifying moments and, as you mentioned, that stunning admission from the airline. the ceo of lufthansa places flowers at the crash site, where a memory chip was found with video of the last 15 seconds of the flight. the reports describe a shaky video with screaming passengers, loud metallic sounds, the wings scraping a mountain before the video ends. it seems to align with video from the cockpit voice recorder with the captain banging on the

door of the cockpit and the passengers realizing their fate. the editor-in-chief of "paris match" saying it's the worst he's ever seen. a french official declared this a fake. but a prosecutor said if it does exist, he wants to sees it. meanwhile, this morning, a shocking admission from lufthansa. the airline revealing it did first learn that co-pilot andreas lubitz, who is believed to have brought down the plane, suffered from severe depression while he was still in their pilot training school. they say he took a leave of absence from the school in 2009, and when he returned months later, he shared his medical records with the airline describing a previous episode of severe depression but they allowed him to resume his training and in 2013 he became a pilot. >> why did they continue with their training of this person after he notified them that he had severe depression? >> reporter: investigators also revealing lubitz was treated for suicidal tendencies but the ceo of lufthansa has defended the airline's decision to let lubitz

fly and says he was medically cleared on the day of the crash. here in the u.s., it was only a couple of years ago that the faa changed its policy reversing its nearly 70-year stance and letting pilots taking medication for mild or moderate depression in the cockpit. even though lufthansa says they knew about the co-pilot's illness the ceo saying it will be a long, long time before we know why the co-pilot did it. george. >> okay, david, thanks very much. we're going to turn now to those nuclear talks with iran. the u.s. and european leaders locked in marathon negotiations to keep iran from creating a nuclear weapon and they blew through a midnight deadline hoping another day of talks would help them seal the deal. there are still some big hurdles ahead. terry moran is on the scene in switzerland with the latest. good morning, terry. >> reporter: good morning, george. the deadline came and went and some of the negotiators came and went, the french are gone and the chinese foreign minister left this morning and said,

narrow down the differences. that's what they've been trying to do and it got very chaotic last night before the deadline. we're hearing the american team were told directly by the white house, take a break. don't do a deal under this kind of craziness. they get a good night of sleep and they came back with a kind of solution that will move the goalpost a little closer at the end of the day, they claim, they will issue a statement of very general goals, no binding mechanism, and then they will get back to negotiations on the hard stuff over the next three months until the next deadline. the bottom line is, there is no deal here or in sight. >> they're trying to buy time for more negotiations. what is the biggest sticking point in these talks right now? >> reporter: trust, george. that's really what it is. this is a very complex negotiation. very technical, lot of moving pieces, and the americans compare it to a rubik's cube, but really the united states doesn't trust iran. iran doesn't trust the united states. that's decades of distrust to overcome and it's hard. >> okay, terry moran, thanks very much. we know you'll be on point all day.

turning now to the latest on indiana's religious freedom law. governor mike pence now admitting he mishandled the situation and he's pledging to fix the law. abc's gio benitez is in indianapolis with the very latest. good morning, gio. >> reporter: good morning, lara. we're told that fix would make it clear that the law cannot be used to discriminate against anyone and that fix could come as early as today. this morning, a change is coming to the indiana religious freedom law that sparked national fury and the governor is now back-tracking. >> i've come to the conclusion it would be helpful to move legislation this week that makes it clear that this law does not give businesses a right to deny services to anyone. >> reporter: this just two days after his fiery exchange with george. >> do you think it should be legal in the state of indiana to discriminate against gays or lesbians? >> george -- >> it's a yes or no question. >> i could have handled that better this weekend. >> reporter: this morning the governor finally answering george's question. >> what do you say now?

>> i don't support discrimination against gays or lesbians or anyone else. >> so no? >> no, i don't support discrimination. >> reporter: here's what the law says, a governmental entity may not substantially burden a person's exercise of religion. in other words, arguments based on religion could be strengthened in court but, because indiana does not have a statewide anti-discrimination law protecting sexual orientation, it could protect business owners who deny service to gay and lesbian customers. >> clearly there's been misunderstanding and confusion and mischaracterization of this law. >> reporter: the governor telling reporters tuesday the law was triggered in part by obamacare and the hobby lobby supreme court case, the court saying last year that forcing family owned companies to pay for contraception through insurance violated federal religious freedom laws. the ncaa, now days away from the

final four tournament, held here this weekend, encouraged by the coming fix to the law. >> but the proof is in the pudding. we'll have to wait and see what really transpires in the legislature this week. >> reporter: critics say they want to see the law repealed entirely, saying the fix might not be enough. meanwhile, in arkansas, a similar bill just passed. the governor could sign it into law today, lara. >> all right, gio, we'll be watching. thank you so much. now, let's turn to amy with the morning's other top developing stories and we are starting with a famous witness in the aaron hernandez murder trial. >> that's right, lara. one of the most recognizable leaders in pro football, billionaire patriots owner robert kraft has been called to the stand in the murder trial of one of his former star players, aaron hernandez. kraft facing questions about his private conversations with hernandez just days after the murder. here's abc's linzie janis. >> reporter: he's one of the nfl's most successful owners, winner of four super bowl titles. >> i love our team. i'm proud of our guys. >> reporter: but this morning, 73-year-old new england patriots

owner robert kraft is a key witness in the trial of his former star, aaron hernandez, accused of killing semipro football player odin lloyd. >> he said he was not involved, that he was innocent. >> reporter: on tuesday, the billionaire owner who signed hernandez to a $40 million contract the year before lloyd's death testifying in court. describing how he confronted the talented tight end in the patriots' weight room after hearing rumors of his involvement in the murder. >> and that he hoped that the time of the murder incident came out because i believe he said he was in a club. >> reporter: kraft's appearance has many wondering if patriots coach bill bellichick might take the stand. he's also on the witness list to testify about the player he drafted from the university of florida in 2010. prosecutors claim hernandez and two friends picked up lloyd, drove him to an industrial park and shot him execution style.

$125,000 and suspending three members of his crew for deflating his tires during this race last month where he finished fifth. the penalty dropping newman from 6th to 26th in the race for nascar's biggest prize, the sprint cup. overnight, newman's team telling abc news, "we understand the seriousness of the penalty" adding they've been outspoken against tire bleeding and vowing to conduct an internal investigation. all season nascar has been concerned about tire bleeding, poking minuscule holes in tire to slowly release air, improving tire durability and helping drivers achieve that ideal grip on the track. it's a concern that superstar jeff gordon raised on friday. >> i've heard about a lot of things, you know, with valve caps and poking holes in tires for years. >> reporter: nascar seized tires from eight of its track leaders

during a two-week period this month and, at the time, nascar officials told abc news tire inspections are frequent and not unusual. now those racers' tires have come back clean except for newman's. nascar telling abc news overnight, "we've been very clear that any modifications to race vehicle tires is an unacceptable practice and will not be tolerated." newman's team hasn't yet decided whether they will appeal but nascar's decision seems incredibly quick in comparison to another sport facing deflation issues, the nfl is still investigating those allegations of deflated footballs. >> what's taking so long? >> oh, they're working on a report, that's all i can say. >> thanks very much. we're going to go back to rob. you mentioned that fire threat out west. >> yeah, heat and winds again, george. amy mentioned just east of l.a. the fires there are not going to be helped by this situation. these aren't classic santa ana winds, but this is more where the sun goes down and winds kick up. high wind watches are up again for later on tonight. temperatures not terrible but 93 degrees in palm springs this, though, coming today, the lowest

building might be in trouble. you want to stick around this morning. >> looks like he's planning something. >> big smile. >> that's all coming up. we're going to begin with the mysterious death of an heir to one of the richest fortunes. the grandson of the late j. paul getty was found dead in his los angeles home yesterday and abc's linzie janis here with the details. good morning, linzie. >> reporter: good morning, george. overnight andrew getty's billionaire parents confirming their son is dead. though the cause of his death is still a mystery. 47-year-old andrew getty, heir to one of america's biggest fortunes found dead overnight. >> we're currently investigating it. i can't determine the cause of death. >> reporter: andrew getty, the scion of getty oil whose grandfather j. paul getty, once considered the wealthiest man in america, was found at his home in the hollywood hills. police responding after a woman called 911. tmz reports that woman may have been getty's ex-girlfriend whom he reportedly filed a restraining order against two weeks ago. police took her in for

questioning and released her. early reports say getty found in his bathroom may have suffered from blunt force trauma, but the lapd says the death most likely from accidental or natural causes. >> we do have one witness who called 911. you may have seen that individual leaving the police car. >> reporter: the getty fortune while synonymous with oil wealth and philanthropic endeavors museums, also has seen more than its share of tragedy. in 1973, j. paul getty iii, andrew's cousin, was kidnapped and held for ransom. the family eventually paid but not before the kidnappers cut off getty's ear. he died at age 54. andrew's father, gordon getty, sold getty oil to texaco in the 1980s for $10 billion. he received at least $2 billion from the sale. but he found himself in the headlines after it was revealed he had three daughters that his wife and four sons including andrew didn't know about. police say medication was also

found at the scene. coroner's officials will wait for the results of toxicology results which could take up to ten weeks. it may be a while before we know the exact cause of death. lara. >> all right, linzie, very sad. thank you. now, we turn to a heart-stopping 911 call from a brave young boy hiding from an intruder in this home. a very smart dispatcher helping him stay calm, guiding him through the ordeal using the house's phones. abc's bazi kanani has this incredible story. >> what is your emergency? >> i have a 12-year-old on the phone hiding in his mom's bedroom. there is a man in his house. >> reporter: terrified and alone. this is the moment 12-year-old luke fournier is patched through to a man who would be his lifeline through a harrowing ordeal. >> luke, i'm t.j. i'm going to stay on the phone with you till i get the police there, okay? >> reporter: it started when luke spotted a stranger at his door. that's when police say the intruder smashed a glass window and broke in. luke locking himself in his mother's bedroom.

>> okay, luke, did you see, did he have a weapon in his hand or anything? >> i don't know. >> reporter: luke whispering so the intruder wouldn't discover him. that's when t.j. suggests a code. >> you don't have to talk. just 1 for yes, 2 for no, okay. you're home alone? 7:41, and we are back now 7:41, and we are back now with "gma" on the lookout and this morning a crime on the rise. stealing the third row seats of suvs. thieves only need seconds to do it and it could possibly cost you thousands of dollars but there are things you can do to protect yourself. abc's kendis gibson has the details. ♪ >> reporter: watch as these brazen thieves pried open the back window of this suv right in the owner's driveway near dallas, then they quickly jump into the back and take one, then two of the removable third row seats. just moments before, the tag team of criminals caught on tape scoping out the suv. once inside it takes them less than 40 seconds to swipe the seats. in 2010, this car dealership in oklahoma hit hard with crooks breaking into more than a dozen cars, it's a problem on the rise

but especially in california and texas, plano police told us 12 of these thefts just last month. as the wynn family vacationed in california, their third-row seats from their van snatched from the parking lot. >> i could understand ipads, dvds were stolen, but these are seats to my vehicle. you should be able to feel confident without having those stolen. >> reporter: they were forced to buy replacements on craigslist because the manufacturer no longer made the seats. >> we're probably taking somebody else's seats and somebody else probably has our seats. >> reporter: "gma" on the lookout with this locksmith. look how quickly this can happen. a thief can come here, break this glass, grab the seat and be out in under ten seconds. on craigslist and ebay we found hundreds of ads for third row seats selling from $200 to thousands of dollars. it seems like an easy target. it is.

deadline and they are now expected to come up with a set of general goals by the end of the day today to help guide further talks. and indiana's governor is leading the call to clarify the state's controversial religious freedom act, but critics say that is not enough. governor mike pence wants to make it clear the law cannot be used to discriminate against anyone, but opponents want legislation that protects gays and lesbians from discrimination. meanwhile, lawmakers in arkansas have passed a similar bill and the governor has promised to sign it. the ceo of walmart, the state's biggest corporation, is now calling for him to veto it. and now to the latest twist in that kidnapping case in california drawing similarities to the hit movie "gone girl." after police called the abduction a hoax, new e-mails are turning up supposedly from the kidnappers themselves. abc's aditi roy has all the new details. >> reporter: this morning, exclusive new details about a series of bizarre e-mails allegedly sent by denise huskins' kidnappers.

dan russo is a lawyer for huskins' boyfriend, aaron quinn, telling us he knows of at least five e-mails from the kidnappers so far. >> the first e-mail came to his phone. that e-mail indicated that they had the woman. >> reporter: then another series of e-mails sent after huskins mysteriously reappeared. in the messages, which abc news obtained from a source, the alleged kidnappers slam authorities who claim huskins and quinn appear to have orchestrated the whole thing, and they give specific details about the kidnapping including how they drilled holes in a window pane to gain access to the house and taped laser pointers to fake guns to mimic real firearms but russo says the most shocking was the most recent sent directly to his office early tuesday morning. >> he said, look, we don't want to commit any more crimes, but if vallejo pd doesn't make a public apology to these folks, then we're going to put all this stuff out on the internet. >> reporter: police and the fbi are not commenting on the

>> reporter: interacting with your dog has been pretty basic. but a slew of new dog tracking devices have hit the market that are basically gps devices smartphone and fitbits in collar form but in our how-to tech series we ask does your dog need a smartphone? well this guy might. buddy is a dog with a pen chapter to go on walkpoints and goes out as far as six miles and we start with a tagg. it really is sleddie's location gps and track it via smartphone app. i hope this works. we let him go and, well as expected sleddie took off but tagg has located him. he's on the move. >> you can create a virtual fence and if your dog strays it can send alerts to your phone. sleddie, you are exactly where it says you should be. whistle tracks your pet's activities how many minutes walking, playing, resting.
