>> sky 7 hd was over michael johnson's funeral procession this morning from los gatos and san jose all stood to salute him. abc 7 news reporter david louie is live with a very emotional day, david? >> emotional indeed. this was the day of loss for the johnson family. a day of loss for the san jose community who considered officer johnson one of the good guys who knew when to be a warrior, and when to be compassionate. >> this was an opportunity for fellow officers to display how law enforcement is one large family. the grief of one department is shared by all. residents of san jose also felt compelled to attend. >> it was hard to hear that one of our men in blue got killed. it's heartbreaking. >> police are sensing a change in attitude for the officers. officer johnson may be a reason why.

a woman told chief escovel last week how a woman counseled her son who was heading in the wrong direction. >> it was that talk that changed her son for the better. she became interested in school was no longer defy an the. his attitude changed 180 degrees. >> the johnson family -- johnson's sister recalled playing cops and robbers when they were kids. >> he always insisted on being the cop, i always had to be the bad guy. that turned out to be fortuitous not just because he grew up to become a cop, but i grew up to become a lawyer. >> johnson's factory was flanked by an honor guard. his patrol vehicle was parked nearby. >> family photos for years were displayed. the most touching remarks were madly david solis who is now a menlo park officer. >> death does not make you a hero. you were already a hero while you lived.

michael. >> the hearse with officer johnson's casket inside left the funeral home in los gatos after 10:00 this morning. they're paying their respects to the fallen officer, many whom we talked to said they were there to show officer johnson's family how grateful they are. >> i think it's important for everybody to meet me out here and show their respects. again like i say they have a tough job. >> along the procession route, students and teachers in campbell left class to pay their respects. they lined the root on winchester boulevard this morning, holding american flags as the funeral procession passed by. san jose firefighters paid their respects as officer johnson's

body approached the sap center. the procession passed underneath. an american flag supported by the ladders for two different trucks. officers described their thoughts on this emotional day. >> the outpouring has been indescribable from our community. as i mentioned, law enforcement agencies. i don't have the words to describe it. it's something we'll never forget. >> it's a brotherhood, of course, and when we lose one elsewhere, we've lost one of our own, so we're here to support them and their families. >> we are out there trying to do the right thing every day, all the time. and this is one of the ways that we respect each other and come together. >> law enforcement from across the region generously offered to fill in for san jose police officers, so everyone in the department could attend the memorial. 81 deputiesy sies helped staff while

the regular officers grieved. >> we always want to support our brothers and sisters in law enforcement. today i was proud and honored to have numerous people coming out that wanted to help. we had to turn people away. >> santa clara county sheriff's department had the most officers backing up the sjpd today. in all, about a dozen agencies helped out. >> san jose police officers gathered at botania arms. >> 100% of sales will benefit officer johnsen's family. >> reporter: this is no longer a fund-raiser, it's turned into a celebration of officer michael johnson's life. hundreds of people have come here to britania arms knowing every dollars worth of food they eat or drink will benefit officer johnson's family.

involved. >> my sister-in-law's an officer, she knew him, that's my wife's twin so this really hit home for us, and it could have been her as well, so we feel it's important that we help other communities. >> everything we take today is going to the family we're not taking a percentage. every penny goes to the family. >> everyone should come out here and help out. >> they will be open until 2:00 a.m. in san jose tiffany wilson abc 7 news. >> now, a number of fund-raisers for the johnson family are in the works. the san jose earthquakes will ask for donations during their match on april 5th a donation bin will be set up during an easter egg hunt that will follow that game. the san jose police officers association is also accepting donations. all of this information for you on our website abc 7 news.com. the san jose police department treated this picture today with a message, thank you officer michael johnson rest in peace brother.

a warning from president obama to iran after that country agreed to limit its nuclear cape abilities. abc 7 news reporter wayne freedman has reaction on this groundbreaking agreement. >> to put this in perspective one could argue that after today, relations between the united states and iran have probably never been better since the takeover of the u.s. embassy in 1969. not that the relations are good yet, but at least now there is some reason for hope. >> this was not just any stroll along lake geneva. the photo op was close to a decade in the making, probably longer. >> we have a very serious problem of confidence mutual lack of confidence we need to address, and we hope that this

process will remedy some of that. >> it's an agreement to agree between iran and six world powers which include the united states. iran has agreed to restrictions and inspections that will prevent it from building a nuclear weapon, in return for lifting of economic sanctions. >> iran cheats, the world will know it. >> we have stopped a cycle that was not in the interest of anybody. >> interesting nonetheless to middle eastern experts and scholars including dr. steven zunis at the university of san francisco. >> it's possible to open things up a little bit. especially as the sanctions are lifted. >> sayings as a discussion of iran's human rights record. a dismal one by most accounts. at unite for iran. a nonprofit in berkeley they're hopeful the nuclear discussions may be in human rights discussions. >> allow iranians to voice their opinions. put who they want in power. >> all of which may qualify as looking ahead for now. this agreement in principle

could take weeks or months of finetuned negotiating. in san francisco, wayne freedman, abc 7 news. >> did you feel it? the 3.6 magnitude quake in the east bay that hit at 12:06 this morning. the u.s. geological survey says the quake was centered one mile northwest of san ramon. it was 6 miles underground. no real damage and no one injured. seismologyists have proven the heyward and callabarras faults are connected. making a quake more destructive. they estimate a 6.7 or greater quake on the heyward fault is more than 14% likely in the next 30 years. more than 7% likely. a simultaneous rupture would create a quake 2.5 times greater at a 7.3 magnitude. and now there is this. only on abc 7 news this evening, we have learned that san

francisco's police chief has finished his investigation into the racist texts sent between members of the department. people will lose their jobs vic? >> there were four officers under investigation. that number expanded to 13 including a captain. she told us he will ask the police commission to fire at least three of those cops with more discipline to come. >> the officers that go for recommendation will be suspended immediately and that will be tomorrow before close of business. >> he confirmed to abc 7 news what we had heard from our sources. at least three officers will be suspended with a recommendation to the police commission that they be fired. the offensive tests were released during a bail hearing last month for former sfpd officer, he was convicted of public corruption in a federal court last december.

morning. the victim went to the hospital police say the victim and the suspect were involved in a crash before the attack. the suspect drove away in a red or maybe maroon car that might be missing its passenger side mirror. caltrain is redoubling its efforts to reduce the recent rise of deaths along its tracks. ten people have been killed this year. by comparison there were only 10 deaths on the tracks in all of last year. the majority of them suicides. additional fencing and elevated crossings. they also have officers patrolling the tracks. >> we have crisis intervention trained transit police officers. in 2014 alone they stopped 40 individuals from taking their lives on the tracks. >> caltrain has also installed signs with a suicide hotline number along the tracks and begun working with local mental health organizations on ways to reduce suicides. a survival story tonight

from the east bay. take a look at this house in north oakland that collapsed this morning with a man inside. the home was under construction. and the man it collapsed around was a guest of sorts. allen long was live at the scene to explain how this happened and how that man made it out alive. this is a house that was under construction and was razed to create a second story around 11:00 this morning it all came crashing down, and this man was sleeping inside the home. 68-year-old crosby powell said he was lying inside the doorway under a blanket when it happened. the neighbor's thought the loud noise was a garbage truck. a cloud of dust was in the air and mr. powell was trapped under a collapsed wall, an old tv and some luck kept it from crushing him. >> yesterday i got bit by a pit bull right there. today a house fell on me.

store. produce, meat, bread and ready to eat food. consumer reports rated 68 supermarkets across the country on the quality of their fresh food based on a survey of nearly 63,000 of its readers. >> we asked about the quality of fresh fruits and vegetables. meat, store prepared foods and baked goods. as well as things like cleanliness, staff courtesy and prices. >> only about 60% of shoppers say they're highly satisfied with a quality of their stores poultry and meat? and only half are set with their prepared foods and bakery options. walmart scored near the bottom of the ratings, people gave walmart low marks in all freshness categories. >> they didn't do well for its court yes, sir staff and store cleanliness, it did score high for prices but it wasn't the best for price. >> walmart's ceo says every
