good friday morning. i'm bazi kanani in for reena. >> and hello to you all. i'm t.j. holmes. the holiday weekend is kicking off with severe weather, unfortunately. several places experiencing damaging winds and even tornadoes possibly. >> at least five states were issued a tornado warning overnight including missouri, ohio, nebraska, oklahoma, and we are just learning of a tornado on the ground in kansas. you can see that powerful line of storms there on the radar. >> also take a look at some of the damage we're seeing already. this is a home in afton, oklahoma. just a pile of rubble really where that home once stood. also in afton, powerful winds toppled two tractor trailers. it will linger throughout the day. accuweather's justin povick has the details. good morning, justin. >> t.j. and bazi, thanks and good morning. a very active afternoon once again today in terms of severe weather. today's threat will be further

south. a little further east over the western tennessee valley sevening from lexington, kentucky all the way south into northern louisiana, birmingham included. damaging wind, hail and isolated tornadoes possible. then dramatically cooler over the plains. high pressure builds in. there will be some sunshine but you will need the coats in the twin cities. t.j. and bazi back to you. >> justin thank you, as always. we turn to the groundbreaking deal with iran. agreeing to significantly scale back its much feared nuclear program. >> it's a major step in keeping tehran from making atomic weapons. abc's susan saulny has brand-new reaction to the plan. >> reporter: unusual sights on the streets of the iranian capital of tehran overnight, joy. the people celebrating a framework nuclear agreement reached between their country and six world powers including the u.s. in switzerland negotiators worked marathon sessions with secretary of state john kerry, now a sense of relief. >> this is the safest, best way

to make the world safer by reducing the ability of iran to be able to have a nuclear weapon. >> reporter: so how does the u.s. benefit under the terms? the breakout time, how long it would take iran to build one bomb is increased from two to three months now to a year. major iranian nuclear sites will be redesigned for civilian purposes only. and a strict regime of monitoring and inspection will last for at least 20 years. and what does iran get? sanctions relief phased in over time. also iran will still be able to research and develop advanced nuclear technology and keep making nonweapons-grade uranium. critics in congress are eager to kill the deal. >> this deal is going to threaten america's national security interests. >> reporter: president obama sharply disagrees. >> i am confident that we can show this deal is good for the security of the united states, for all allies and for the world. >> reporter: the deal is only a framework. it needs to be transformed into a concrete plan over the next

three months or it could fall apart. bazi, t.j. >> susan saulny live in our washington bureau this morning, thanks, susan. well, two women are in custody here in new york accused of plotting a terror attack inspired by isis. they made a brief court appearance yesterday. authorities say searches of their home turned up propane gas tanks, a pressure cooker, fertilizer and information on how to create explosives and an attorney for one of the women says his client will plead not guilty. there is an intense manhunt this morning for the most wanted man in kenya after that horrific university attack. al shabaab leader mohammed mohamud is said to be the mastermind of the day-long massacre. witnesses say at least four gunmen singled out christians and then gunned them down on the spot. 147 people killed. last week universities in kenya were warned that they were targets for the terror group which also threatened an attack on the mall of america. emergency crews and heavy cranes are at work in cincinnati after an elevated train

derailed. at least six train cars went off the track in the neighborhood with two dangling off the elevated railway. police say because the train cars were filled with grain, the derailment poses no hazardous or environmental materials threat. prosecutors in germany say they have found new evidence that the germanwings co-pilot planned to crash his plane. they found internet searches on andreas lubitz's computer for suicide and cockpit door security. investigators in france hope to learn more about the last moments of the flight now that they've recovered the other black box. that's the flight data recorder. meanwhile millionaire murder suspect robert durst will be back in court next week in new orleans after his lawyer's witnesses failed to show up at a hearing yesterday. prosecutors say the witnesses including fbi agents and a state trooper were told not to testify because they needed more time to review the subpoenas. the hearing was about illegal weapons but durst faces murder

charges in california. new jersey senator bob menendez says he has no plans to resign despite being charged with corruption. the two-term democratic lawmaker pled not guilty yesterday in newark. prosecutors accuse him of taking millions in cash and gifts from a florida eye doctor in exchange for political favors. menendez says prosecutors don't know the difference between friendship and corruption. after much contentious debate and intense pressure, two governors have signed bills clarifying their state's religious freedom laws. the governor of arkansas doing so under pressure from his own son and businesses such as walmart, and indiana's governor agreed to a similar fix that states the law does not allow businesses to deny service to any customers including gays. the indiana pizza shop under fire for saying it would refuse to cater to a same-sex wedding remains closed, but its go fund me page has already raised

nearly a half million dollars. president obama is in utah. this morning he'll deliver a speech later today on the economy. as soon as he arrived last night the president met with leaders of the mormon church. utah is the 49th state he's visited as president. the only state left on his list left to visit south dakota. today, of course, good friday for christians around the world and yesterday in rome pope francis washed the feet of 12 inmates, a pre-easter ritual meant to show his willingness to serve. and at mass one little guy, one little toddler said, i know you're the pope but this is my show. he tried to steal the spotlight walking around in front of the altar of the you're going to see. there is the toddler playing just steps away from the pope. the pope didn't seem to be bothered one bit by it. >> wonder what his parents were thinking. that mom. poor mom. >> dad was probably proud. well still ahead the classic '90s sitcom that could be making a return. also, rescue at sea. a sailor is found two months after he was reported missing.

robert van winkle was arrested for allegedly stealing furniture after breaking into a foreclosed mansion in florida. under his deal he'll pay a fine and do 1 ee hours of community service for habitat for humanity. it was a quiet thursday afternoon in an oregon store until this. take a look at surveillance video. bam. from inside the store a board game store that car crashing right in. one employee had to jump out of the way. police say they were chasing the driver who jumped out of the car and tried to run. he was caught just steps away and now faces a long list of charges. luckily, no one was hurt in this crash. and this from australia giving new meaning to the term car pool. that blue car winding up fully submerged in the backyard pool of a house in sydney. the driver and two passengers were able to escape without serious injury. the car had struck another vehicle, jumped a curb and went straight through a fence. they used a crane to pull it out. we turn to the courthouse in downtown los angeles. now it turned into a makeshift

maternity ward when a woman suddenly went into labor. she gave birth to a baby boy there. all happened so fast paramedics couldn't even get there. instead sheriff's deputy has to pitch in and deliver the baby and did a pretty good job delivering a baby boy named malachy. this morning mom and baby are doing fine. hope it's not a sign for the rest of his life. born in a courthouse. hope this is the only time he has to be in one. the element of surprise stay on babies actually does a baby good. researchers at johns hopkins university say babies learn better from surprising situations than predictable ones. the study of 11-month-olds found that unexpected events like a ball going through a wall drive further learning. babies are natural scientists wired to search for why. what they mean is you see something, it looks like a ball and they expect it to do one thing and bounces off the floor they'll check it out and experience it for themselves versus something that's predictable. >> those little guys are so clever. >> they're sponges.

express on their hands and no word of arrest. police responded to on block of jefferson street last night at 9:45. this was report of a shooting. a man was on the ground. officers found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest. emergency medical workers were there but he died at the scene. he was identified at 22-year-old william pachenko jr. if you have information on the case call the hayward police department. a major intersection in san rafael is closed while a gas leak is repaired reported last night at 8:00. pg&e said the contract workers were boring and hit a 2" line and working to pinch off the pipe and stop the leak. the neighborhood is mostly industrial so no homes are affected. the look should be in stopped in time to
