>> it was a lot of concern among the parents. >> a settlement tonight for the family of a south bay girl who killed herself after she was sexually assaulted at a party. but this was about much more than just money. i'm larry beil in for dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. audrey pott committed suicide in 2012 a week after she was assaulted. abc7 news reporter leslie brinkley joins us live with the details. leslie? >> well, this out of court settlement allows the family to avoid a trial and the painful testimony that could surface. the case could garner national headlines. it is about alcohol, sexual assault, sexting and bullying. at a high school party in 2012 audrey drank a potent punch of vodka and gatorade and passed out. she was then sexually assaulted. the three attackers took pictures and shared it with classmates. days after the photos emerged,

audrey hung herself. three teenage boys were found guilty and one settled out of court last month. now closure as the boys agree to pay $950,000 as part of a wrongful death lawsuit and they had to issue a public apology in court before a judge on friday. the apology included admitting that audrey was not conscious during the assault. she did not give concept -- consent and did not invite or encourage the sexual act. the apology addressed the suicide. i apologize for false rumors that served to shame and humiliate her. audrey did not deserve nor would any human being deserve what we put audrey through. the settlement requires the boys to be part of a documentary and to talk publicly about the consequences of drinking assault and sexting. >> when you are talking about defendants making the rounds at schools and talking about what they did and trying to educate other kids about what happened. i can't imagine a better way

to send a message. >> many parents at saratoga high school dent want to talk about the settlement, but some were relieved. >> that is enormous. >> they hope lessons are learned as the pot family released a statement saying they are happy their daughter's name has been cleared. in san jose lessee brinkly -- leslie brinkley, abc7 news. a man from oakland is the first reported u.s. citizen to be killed in yemen. our media partner reports he died in a mortar shelling while walking back from a mosque. the gas station owner was trying to get his wife and 2-year-old daughter out of the violence in yemen. the bay area council is calling for the evacuation of all u.s. citizens there. now to the scandal rocking the bay area law enforcement community. he is asking for seven of his officers to be fired for sending orie spoppedding to

incident in san francisco. the victim was just sitting down a as the attacker walked up and slammed perry in the head so hard that he dropped the pipe. >> i was in shock and eventually i pulled it together and then i called 9-1-1 after the disoriented people were in shock after watching what happened. >> perry is in critical condition. police spotted the suspect in the same area last night. he will face attempted murder and aggravated assault charges. a martinez man accused of having sex with an under age girl is also accused of making child pornography. police said an underage organ girl faked her own suicide to come to the area. federal investigators under to explicit images of hundreds of children on johnson's digital devices. they believey created some of the images and may have had contact with at least three young girls. police are investigating a

low tech, but effective. thieves in walnut creek used a large truck to rip free an atm. it happened early this morning at the shell gas station near california boulevard. one man distracted a clerk and another tied a chain to the atm. the driver hits the gas and they tore the outdoor atm from the mount and then tossed it in the truck and took off. >> new details about the unbelievable tale of survival at sea. a fisherman lost for 66 days is now back on dry land and reunited with his family.

i think larry should get up early. i'll show you what it looks like. you should have a great view of the eclipse tomorrow morning. the temperatures right now are in the 40s, 50s and as you take a look at the live picture from our emeryville camera looking across the bay it is cooler for the upcoming weekend. showers on easter sunday and more rain coming in on monday night and into tuesday. that system looks more intense. it is coming out of the gulf of alaska. it starts off sunny and ends up with clouds. then it flies south on sunday. trust me you will feel the difference as the air mass changes and you will need the umbrellas. saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. a few clouds around as we head toward sunday morning. sunrise at 6:49 and as you head toward sunrise services keep in mind you will need the umbrellas because the rain will start to shift quickly. then by 3:00 p.m. it is all gone out of the bay area. the next system comes in and

it arrives on monday night well to the north and then slides southward as we head toward tuesday. the two systems combined will bring us pretty good rainfall in the north bay. it is not enough to raise the drought, but an inch to three inches. and in the south bay a quarter to half an inch of rain. this is prompting a winter weather advisory for the sierra nevada.aú sunday 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. if you are traveling back from the tahoe area after the holiday you may run into problems. 4 to 8 inches expected above 3500. up to 10 inches over the highest peaks. carry your chains and expect travel delays. tomorrow morning you will need to bundle up if you have early plans. the egg hunts for saturday looking fine. mid30s to low 50s. a few clouds around. then for the afternoon, the numbers will be lower than today. upper 50s to the upper 60s. we will see an increase in the cloud cover and here is a
