good morning to you. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a quick look it at the forecast. here is meteorologist lisa argen tracking live doppler hd. >> waking up to a few high clouds keeping the temperatures up right now. in the beach area of santa cruz another day this in the 70s. so looks good here with plenty of blue skies. 53 by the delta. it's 49 in livermore and we'll look for the high clouds to influence our temperatures today. we will see a return to some low 70s, though, despite the high crowds. the coast will stay cool, upper 50s to low 60s.

and once the clouds move out, a warmer second hatch of the weekend, but it won't last. i'll explain coming up. chris? >> san francisco police continue to search for three robbery suspects after a wild chase that killed one woman and sent another person to the hospital. abc 7 news captured this exclusive video of the stolen car the suspect drove when police found it on treasure island. police believe it's the same car that barreled into a woman as she crossed california street near concernkearney. she died after being rushed to san francisco general hospital. cable car passengers witnessed the tragedy unfold around 10:00 last night. >> it went by, the sedan, and it appeared the windshield had been cracked or badly damaged and then immediately behind it were numerous office he isrs, police cars. >> police had been looking for the suspect for several hours. >> there were at least three robberies committed by these

same suspects. the last robbery occurred at clay and larkin street around 9:50 in the evening. >> officers recovered two guns that were tossed from the car. the suspect also hit a pedestrian at post and powell. that person is expected to survive. they also also struck another vehicle at 8th and harrison. 8:02 is our time. extra police will be patrolling the campus of cal street east bay in hayward today in response to a shooting threat. school leaders posted alerts last night on the campus' website and social media pages about an investigation into a threat overheard in a conversation. a student says that a bunch of strangers thursday he overheard them refer to a gun and a campus shooting planned for some time today. the school will be open but people on campus are advised to report any suspicious activity. police say they've arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with a phony bomb threat at malpitas high school.

students were evacuated from their crass room. the threat forced them to close for the day while police certificatesearched the campus for anything dangerous. they believe the suspect called in the threat from a pay phone. happening now funeral services have begun for walter scott, the unarmed black driver shot and killed by a white police officer in south carolina. scott's family and friends will honor him. scott tied after an ins tent captured on video when officer michael flager shot him in the back. slager stopped for a broken taillight. they claim the two had fought over the officer's taser. the police officer now faces murder charges. san jose police are asking for help in feigneding a murder suspect. this is the man they're looking for. take a look at your screen. andrew but theler killed the mother of had his child and left her body on the street tuesday night, police say.

investigators say but theler was in the car with gonzales when they got into an argument. they he say butler shot her, got out of the car and then dumped her. butler told two other people in the car to get out and to take their 1-year-old daughter with them before he drove off. police found the car. they say butler is considered armed and dangerous. this morning police in san jose are also searching for two men caught on camera in a brazen car theft. it happened early yesterday in the willow glenn area of san jose. police quickly recovered the stolen car. but as katie marzullo reports, the crime has neighbors re-evaluating their safety. >> it was very shocking how comfortable they were. they just kind of walked like they were walking down the street. >> reporter: that is until the two young people move in to steal the car. they work quietly and it took less than three minutes. >> woke up this morning and looked out and my daughter's car wasn't there. >> reporter: that's when he turned to technology, a camera mounted on his house.

little did he know the camera would catch such a dramatic crime. he installed it over the holidays after someone stole packages off the porch. he called the police. officers spotted the honda later that afternoon. they tell jack three young people ran from the car leaving behind a knife and marijuana pipe but the only damage is to the ignition switch. news travels fast in this neighborhood and on social media. reuben saw the video posted on facebook and came by to ask jack about his cameras. he almost had a car stolen a few months ago. >> definitely want surveillance video in case anything happens. >> reporter: that's the part jack is happy with as well. >> i was actually kind of excited. i had pinpoint times and i had suspects on camera. >> reporter: those suspects are still on the loose. in san jose katie marzullo, abc 7 news. later today president obama will meet with the president of cuba mark inging the first

face-to-face conversation of its kind since the hate of the cold war. mr. obama and president raul castro greeted each other last night during the summit of the americas in panama. both leaders have an opportunity to take another step in normalizing relations between the two countries. there has been some speculation that president obama will announce the u.s. is removing cuba from the list of state sponsors of terrorism. millions are bracing for another round of severe weather across the midwest, this after a tornado killed two people in illinois. take a look he at the damage done in fairdale illinois. two women died after the twister hit their neighborhood. thursday's tornado damaged just about every structure in the small farming community northwest of chicago. some people dodged the tornado including 12 diners who found shelter with seconds to spare in the basement of a local restaurant. traffic is back to normal this morning after drivers faced nearly endless delays following a truck fire at the marin end of the richmond-san raf

the cement spill is larger than first thought now extending to a small bran much of the creek. you youutility crews left a valve open while retrofitting a pipe on wednesday that caused the spill. crews are having it to use picks, shovels, and buckets to rae move the substance by hand. happening now drivers face detours as part of a major street in san francisco is closed. that closure affects three blocks of van ness avenue. it is closed because work has begun on an underground pedestrian tunnel. that passageway will some day link two parts of the pacific medical center and you can see this animation supplied by cpmc. work ersers will drive steel beams into the ground so that digging can begin. 8:08 is our time. lisa, it is shaping up to be a nice weekend to head outdoors. >> a little bit of a warm-up. we do have high clouds and as we look at the camera, you can see the temperature are in the low 50s right now. 65 this afternoon, getting a little breezy downtown. we'll talk about where it's

grass are among the things you'll discover on market street today. abc 7 news reporter jonathan bloom tells us it's part of a festival that could determine market street's future. >> reporter: it's ping-pong in the middle of the sidewalk on a six-sided table that talks. >> six-sided ping-pong? >> apparently it works quite well. >> i've got it. >> if you feel like you've seen this before, think back to november when we visited the design team taking this on for the market street proto typing festival. >> neal came up with the idea. three days of these off-the-wall, out of the box sidewalk installations. >> i built this thing. >> what is it? >> it's a public musical instrument. >> it sounds better together. >> it's about connections, with about how people come together in ways they weren't ex inspecting to.

that weak frontal band is along for some of the high clouds hear at sfo. still a nice afternoon. the warmer weather for the weekend and a cooldown on monday. of could see a sprinkle in the north bay. really the temperatures coming down will be the only factor from a weak frontal band. we warm up as high pressure builds in. two weak weather systems one diving well to the south. the other one is the high includes, the breezy afternoon but all in all it spells a mild to warm weekend with temperatures today really not at that hard to take with mid-70s over in livermore. but how about tomorrow, about 80 degrees. here comes a cooldown on monday quickly warming back up. but by wednesday, how about low 80s, well above average. 87 expect eded by next thursday.

it turns out riding in self-driving cars could make you more carsick. university of michigan researchers say there's a disconnect between what riders see. that's why drivers don't experience motion sickness as much as passengers. riders also do other activities like read, text, or play games which can amplify simymptoms. amazon's delivery drones will soon be flying around. the federal aviation add administration just approved limited research and testing for the can company's prime air delivery service. amazon had to seek new approval because last month the faa approved an aircraft that amazon is no longerer testing. the ceo's vision is to deliver packages from the warehouse to your door in less than 30 minutes. 8:22 is our time. people from all over come to marin county to enjoy the out

outdoors. but with 3 million to 4 million visitors a year, the open space is being overwhelmed. after four years of work the county finally has a trail management plan that's supposed to manage recreation and the environment. but as abc 7 news anchor dan ashley reports, the devil is in the details. >> reporter: it's wild flower season, one of the most beautiful tames of the year in the parks and open space. a the lot of people enjoy the views on trails that are not supposed to be here and the parks department wants to chose some down. that's why 200 outdoor enthusiasts pack this mill valley meeting to get a look at these maps of southern marin county showing the proposal for what stays and what goes. >> these trails are being used and loved dearly and it's easy to abuse them. >> reporter: marin county open space is 16,000 acres with 250 miles of roads and trails, many created by people who just carved out a new route. >> it's really too many for us to manage sustainably over time

and most were inherited by the district and built for other purpose you ss. >> reporter: under the district plan, some trails will be eliminated, others improved with new rules about who can use what. that's a tough sell in marin known as ground zero for trail conflict between hikers bikers and horseback riders. years of meetings have led to some cooperation but bike riders want more. >> our mission is to help open narrow single track trails and allow more access for base kals. >> reporter: not everyone thinks that's a good idea. >> the concept of allowing bikers on the same narrow trails that have horses and hikers on it is a dangerous situation. >> reporter: there's concern about plants and wildlife. >> here is a really nice patch of oakland star tulip. >> reporter: sarah works at ring mountain preserve where some trails may be closed. ring mountain has one of the few remaining stands of native grass lands and is home to seven rare plants including one that's

found nowhere where else on earth. >> there aren't many other places that have this level of native spescies. >> reporter: but this google earth map shows the mountain is covered with small trails that cut off sensitive habitats. this is one of the rare species. you can seep how easy it would be to trample by mistake. these people don't know it but they're walking on an unauthorized trail that goes through a patch of rare flowers. >> and it travels straight up the slope, and as a result it has a lot of erosion. >> reporter: these are the kinds of problems the open space district hopes to eliminate in its new trail plan and this meeting is just the beginning. the district will have similar sessions to get public input around the rest of the county. then became the difficult job of closing trails and trying to make it stick. >> and that was abc 7 news anchor dan ashley reporting. at abc7news.com you'll find a

half past the hour on this saturday morning. good morning and thanks so much for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. all right, we could hit the 70s today across parts of the bay area. let's check in with our meteorologist lisa argen for a first look at the forecast. >> chris good morning to you. san jose, we've had a few clouds and today should be a nice springlike afternoon. petaluma still on thecal side at 43. concord at 52. you know it's wind here from our camera where the winds are from 15 to 20 males anmales an miles an hour. about 65 in san francisco and we'll see low 70s in oakland. so today the cooler day of the weekend. we'll talk about that warm-up on

tap for tomorrow. chris? lisa, thank you. we want to get some developing news in san francisco where police are still looking for three men suspected of robbery and now wanted in the death of a woman killed as the suspect escaped from an officer. this new video shows police trying to stop a stolen car as it sped through the tenderloin after a series of robberies. take a look at this other video we shot of a stolen toy oeota after it was abandoned on treasure island. officers began chasing it shortly before 10:00 last night moments after a robbery on lar larkin and clay. cable car passengers witnessed the chase of the suspect hit a woman in the crosswalk at california and kearney. she later died at san francisco general hospital. >> watched what appeared to be a black four-door sedan just literally coming over and hitting every bump as it was airborne. >> police recovered two guns they say the men toss eded from the speeding car. the car was linked to at least three robberies.

>> this possible vehicle being out and about tonight before they went on patrol. it was fresh in their minds. >> the suspect also hit a pedestrian at powell. that person is expected to survive. they also struck another car at 8th and harrison. a state lawmakerer finds himself getting extra protection after threats were made against him as he trace to limit vaccine waivers in california. a bill that would only exempt children from vaccinations for medical reasons. he is also a pediatrician. many people protested against the bill outside the state capitol. inside the bill passed its first hurdle in a senate committee hearing. family and friends are honoring walter scott, the unarmed black driver shot and killed by a white police officer in south carolina. some mourners raised their hands in the air as they entered scott's funeral a short time ago. scott died after the incident

captured on video when officer michael slager shot him in the back while scott tried to run away. slager stopped scott for a broken taillight. police and his attorney claimed the two had fought over the officer's taser. back here at home the california corrections department is appealing a order to give a transgender inmate sex re-assignment surgery. a judge ruled convicted murderer michelle needs surgery, costing up up to $100,000. they argue that she is getting proper treatment and is not in serious, immediate physical or emotional danger requiring the surgery. the family of a novato boy who survived a fall through a sky light says the school district should be held liable for his injury. an attorney for the family of 9-year-old william wells has filed a claim with the district. the boy's attorney says it's far too easy to get on to the

school's roof. he says district leaders knew children climbed up there and that they didn't do enough to stop it. abc 7 news report erer has the story. this is a serious injury, surgery is possibly upcoming. >> reporter: attorney ivan golde represents a 9-year-old boy who nearly three weeks ago fell at a skyline in novato. >> right on his back. fractures his back. >> reporter: seven spanl fracturesspinal fractures and head trauma. wells was treat eded for four days before releasing him to his mother's home. >> all things considered they know, this family knows that he's lucky to be alive. >> reporter: but luck isn't enough says golde. >> unfortunately, sometimes it takes something like this for the school to wake you up and say, hey, maybe weep should do something. >> reporter: they allege hamilton's roof is an attractive nuisance. >> this roof is very easy to climb up on.

there is a ladder right are there. the shed was open. all the boys go on this roof. >> reporter: essentially asking the question is 9 old enough to know it's not safe to climb onto a roof? >> understand and appreciate the danger. >> reporter: and did the district do enough to protect children from themselves even if they were trespassing in the claim the district released this statement. we received this claim and it is currently being reviewed by our insurance carrier keenan and associates. the district has 90 days to respond to the claims before a lawsuit can be filed. did you see a lot of emergency vehicles in richmond today? there's probably no reason to be alarmed because an anti-terrorism drill will be taking place. today's drill will happen at the richmond fire training center on cutting boulevard. it will deal with how first responders handle a dirty bomb. about 200 members of the california national guard will work alongside police officers

and richmond firefighters. 8:34 is our time. the san francisco city treasurer's office faces accusations that is trying to double dip when it comes to collecting taxes for short-term rental. they sent a letter to the host in san francisco that details the accusations. the san francisco bay service claimed it's already collecting those taxes and sending them to city hall on behalf of renters. "the chronicle" also reports that city treasurer jose cisneros blames them for any problems linked to tax collection. another first for levi stadium tonight, the invasion of monster jam. sky 7 hd found a few of those parked outside the stadium yesterday. inside you can see how the 49ers home field has been turned into a giant off road course the thousands of fans are expected to attend the monster jam. it begins at 7:00 tonight. they did plan to run extra light rail trains but officials stress there will be less service than

we're just a day away from an expected announcement by hillary clinton that she'll be running for president. all indications point that clinton revealing her white house bid tomorrow without much fanfare. the former first lady senator and secretary of state will spell out her plan in a tweet in a video posted online and will begin traveling to iowa to begin campaigning. polls show her ahead of rivals. republic wran senators ted cruz and rand paul have already formally launched their campaign. marco rubio is expect eded to announce on monday. it sounds like something out of a scary movie. a young north bay mom wanted to work at home to be with her baby but wound up involved in a global crime ring. she turned to 7 on up side's michael finney in the hopes of warning you about a job scam. >> reporter: this woman wanted a

stay at home mom to stay with her little boy. she posted a resume on careerbuilder.com, and soon after a terrific opportunity. >> i thought that this was a new open door for stay-at-home jobs. >> reporter: a company called bay wide courier offered her a job shipping packages to its customers for $2500 a month. >> i'm receiving packages, take pictures of them, put a new label on there and then take it to the post office. >> reporter: boxes began arriving at her house. she would open them up, examine the merchandise, and send them off. >> i got brake rotors, ipads, a wedding ring and then the two go pro 4s. >> reporter: she shows us pictures of all merchandise and where it was doing. >> the car parts went to russia and the wedding ring and shoes went to russia. >> reporter: a month later she was due for her first paycheck. >> and i tried to logon to the website and it kicked me out. right then and there i knew

something was wrong but i was just praying -- >> reporter: she googled bay wide courier and found this company in washington. however, that business never hired her. instead a instead scam art using the company's name, even linking itself to the real can company' b bbb report. >> i was shocked. i was amazed. >> reporter: it turns out she was helping an international crime ring funnel stolen goods into russia. >> this is a textbook work at home scheme. >> reporter: the u.s. postal inspectors says it appears con artists ordered it with stolen credit cards and had it shipped first to the woman to avoid questions. >> there is a chance for somebody to arrest you. >> reporter: kae-lynn says she was shocked it was operating through careerbuilder.com. >> i believe they should have it somewhere. it's a possibility that scammers may be able to get your resume.
