good afternoon everybody. >> first at 4:00, the search is over for a missing 70-year-old bay area man. don myers was last seen yesterday morning when he left his palo alto home for the east bay. >> he was hiking in the regional wilderness in unincorporated alameda county. tiffany wilson joins us live now now. >> certainly developments, the search cues were not hoping for, but just after 2:00 this afternoon afternoon, where don myers was expected to be hiking, only a

coroner can make a positive identification, but if appears to be myers. this video from sky 7 hd shows the train where myers went hiking his common law wife called police last night, after he didn't return home. myers recently celebrated his 70th birthday, she told detectives, he liked to hire mcguire peek trail a couple times a year. she expected him home for a late lunch. he didn't make it. search crews located his car near the trail head and they combed the hills until 2:00 this morning. then they resumed the effort at first light today. just about when they planned to break for lunch the search and rescue helicopter spotted a body. >> it was one of the highest peaks in the area, there is no footing up there. we are investigating to

a courtroom outburst in south carolina today kenneth stanshill cursed at the judge. sheriff's deputies had to rush him out the door. he's facing a murder charge in the killing of a community college employee, in a suspected hate crime because the victim was gay.

effective than talking to a doctor on the phone. well, a new report questions if help apps do people any good. especially if you're already helping. the report says in some cases, using apps that monitor blood pressure exercise, sleep and eating can actually make people more obsessing about their health. it recommends that doctors become more involved in educating their patients on which health details too track and which apps to use. american express and jaw bone are partnering to allow people use fitness trackers. cardholders will be able to use the fitness bans. no word on whether it will work with visa or mastercard. could a beer make you more beautiful? japanese brewer says it's launched a beer called precious. it's targeted primarily at women. the drink is said to have two cans of calollogen in each can.

returning to the coast. now, tomorrow, this will be the temperature range with fog in the coast cooler with highs only in the low 60s only 70s around the bay, we'll still have warm weather inland with mid to upper 80s. same picture on saturday inland, mid to upper 80s, we'll see only 50s on the coast, 70s around the bay. next week we'll see some moisture moving in our direction, so there's a slight chance of rain the middle of next week, wednesday into thursday. on the go, overnight conditions here, clear skies. a little patch of fog in the coast. tomorrow sunny and warm in the south bay, highs right around just above 80 degrees, mainly mid to upper 70s on the peninsula, and low to low to mid-60s on the coast partly sunny, partly foggy conditions. downtown san francisco a high of 67 tomorrow up in the north bay, mild, with highs in the upper 70s, from santa rosa to sonoma to napa. over on the east bay. 74 in oakland, 77 in freemont.

nationwide during a 6-week sweep. vic will have a live report coming up at 5:00. >> he may have taken to the air to make a political statement. the florida man who flew his gyro copter near the u.s. capitol has now led to a federal courtroom. how he flew unnoticed through what is supposed to be one of the most secure areas in the entire world. karen? >> good afternoon larry, doug hughes did not answer any questions today after he left court. after his appearance in washington. he just smiled as he walked away with his attorneys, despite many questions directed at him, the secret service put out a statement today saying the agency had no advance notice about hughes' plans to take that gyro copter and fly it right up to the capitol. >> doug hughes was charged with violating restricted airspace and operating an unregistered aircraft. the 61-year-old postal worker

from florida appeared in federal court today in washington. as questions are mounting how he could navigate his gyro copter right through the no fly zone. he travelled more than 50 miles. but it was too small, too slow and too low so it was never detected. >> all the layers of defense, the radar, sophisticated cape aeshlt hundreds of millions of dollars for not. >> he wanted to deliver letters to lawmakers demanding change in campaign finance laws. he also told secret service agents about his plan a year ago. >> i'm going to violate the no fly zone nonviolently and i intend for no one to get hurt. >> the secret service received a call at approximately 1:00 p.m. yesterday from a reporter with the tampa bay times who asked if the agency was aware of a permit obtained by hughes to fly and land on the capitol grounds. the secret service was unaware

members on board. embattled minnesota vikings star adrian peterson is back in the good graces of the nfl. the league announced its reinstating peterson, that will clear the way for him to return to the field after missing most of last season while fighting child abuse charges in texas. he pleaded no contest last november to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault for using a stick or a switch to discipline his 4-year-old son. the reinstatement is hinged on peterson fulfilling the obligations of his plea deal and continuing to attend counseling. does he return to the vikings or try to force a trade elsewhere. shug knight will stand trial on murder and attempted murder charges. a los angeles judge rejected his argument, he acted in self-defense when he plowed his truck into two people earlier this year. you may recall last month, he collapsed in court after hearing his bail would be set at $25

the crash occurred at 11th and geary just before 11:00 no one seriously hurt the fire department responded to check on each car's occupants and also to shut off the water. a similar scene near sacramento this morning this one was worse, though. it took crews more than two hours to turn off the water after this fire hydrant in antelope started spewing, a water main break triggered the gusher around 3:30 a.m. the water company couldn't turn it off until 5:40. tens of thousands of gallons of water flooded the streets at a nearby self-storage facility. a car running from police hit a building overnight. the officer was trying to pull the car over when the driver took off, he lost control and plowed into the front of that building at the intersection of 41st and emerald streets. the measles outbreak that began in disneyland is nearing an end. state health officials plan to declare an end to the outbreak in california tomorrow if no

we breaking news sky 7 hd live over the breaking news, a caltrain has hit a pedestrians on the tracks. the person is alive and has been taken to the hospital, this is a northbound train by the santa clara station no word yet on why that person may have been on the tracks. there are 68 passengers on board, nobody on board is hurt caltrains says the next train

will pick up those passengers. there are two tracks. service is delayed about half an hour. at least one family has to find a new home after a brushfire ripped through their neighborhood. the fire is about 50% contained. one person is being treated for minor injuries. red flag warnings across most of southern california are expected to end within the next few hours. turning to our forecast now, spencer christian with an accuweather update. temps in the 80s, which was your decade of dominance? >> i doubt any more than the 80s, 50s, 60s. let's take a look at what's happening right now. we have blue skies and sunny skies all across the bay area right now. warm conditions almost summer like a lovely day. the national weather picture for tomorrow looks a bit mixed across the 48 contiguous states we'll see thunderstorms throughout much of the southeast and central and northern plains. sunny over the great lakes and

much of the western edge of the country from seattle to portland down into california. let's take a look at the state of california for tomorrow. sunny skies mainly from top to bottom, it will be warm with highs in the mid-80s from chico to sacramento. 81 los angeles, 91 down to palm springs, 65 rather atta hoe tomorrow. here in the bay area fog will return to the coast tomorrow, the coast will be a bit cooler than today. highs only in the low to mid-60s tomorrow, in fact the bayshore line will be a little cooler today, still pleasantly mild with highs in the 70s, it will remain warm inland. highs will reach into the mid-80s in many locations. weather is looking really nice over the next couple days. larry and cheryl. back outside again, the weather -- it's a perfect day to go for a drive. this is southbound 101. just past palo alto. look at this remember you're heading south you want to be aware that traffic will eventually come to a halt. you want to let folks know that

you can now look at hundreds of thousands of sony e-mails and documents, on wikileaks. the website says the files show the inner workings of an international company and they belong in the public domain. sony slammed the release and says it will continue to fight for the safety of its company and its employees. in december sony suffered a massive cyber attack ahead of the release of the movie the

interview. >> anybody hoping to pick up that new apple watch a week from tomorrow, is going to have to wait for a while. apple removed the april 24th availability date from its website. the watches will not be shipped now until june. demand for the watches apparently exceeded the expectations. reports say about a million people preordered apple watches last friday. the first day the orders were taken. customers can still order a watch or make an appointment to try one on in an apple store. be prepared to wait. microsoft and yahoo announced they will renew the search alliance, they started in 2009 but with some key changes. the company issued a joint statement saying yahoo improves the search experience. the changes will help maintain a strong and productive alliance. the initial search deal is forced to loosen the grip of google. a lot of families are turning to juicing as a way to improve their diet. >> we're having a big discussion

an exhibit opens tonight, to pay tribute to an historic event years ago. the fall of sigh began prompted a huge evacuation of children. it was called operation baby lift. janet o with more. >> operation baby lift more than 2,000 children rescued from their war torn country after saigon fell in 1975. 1500 of those children passed through the presidio before being adopted by american families. their legacies live on through this exhibit. >> if you're of a certain generation, you remember this, it was in the news it was popular, you may not have fully understood it it had a profound effect. >> the operation was not sanctioned by either the u.s. or vietnam. this woman's husband was on the first government operation that ended in a deadly crash. >> he was a full member.

battle. more than 100 local leaders signed this open letter urging pope francis to replace him. it was signed by a group of catholics opposed to the archbishop's views. leann melendez joins us with the story. leann? >> cheryl, well you know this group is very clear for the past three months, they have quietly and discretely asked all their contacts here in the san francisco bay area and at the vatican to intervene on their behalf. they have sent letters, they have made phone calls and yet nothing. the full page ad would have included a lot more signatures, but those behind it say they needed space for the actual message. asking the vatican to remove san francisco's archbishop. >> so our hope is that the pope recognizes both from our messages and this, that we are serious. >> those behind this letter say they are catholics from different backgrounds who oppose the policies.
