abc7 news starts right now with live breaking news. >> a fatal accident involving a pedestrian has shutdown a lane on highway 101 near caesar chavez street near san francisco. it has been nearly two hours so far tonight. police say the victim was hit by at least two cars. this happened after 9:00. the lanes we are learning just reopened moments ago. good evening. other news now and preparations are underway for the annual 4/20 pot party at san francisco's golden gate park. last year about 15,000 people showed up and left behind a big mess. a traffic mess is expected tomorrow. it will be shutdown from stanion to lincoln. sergio is live with a lack at what is expected.

>> 4/20 last year was on a sunday and they believe that's why there was such a big crowd. monday they are hoping for a smaller crowd but police already put out these barriers to try and get a handle on some of the crowds and to divert traffic. emergency crews will need easy access to the park so one lane of traffic will remain open. the parking signs are already posted warning about the changes. drivers will be forced to turn on to stanion creating a possible issue for residents. >> that's unfortunate. it will affect a lot of the people near sunset. >> people have already started arriving in the city for monday's event at hippie hill including some from across the state. >> 4/20. >> i mainly came for the drum circle today. >> he is here because he heard about last year's big event. >> there will probably be a

lot of people here. i heard there was 10,000 here last year. >> this was the massive crowd actually estimated at about 15,000 people. volunteers with the green cross, a pot dispense re helped clean up the trash and police arrested eight people for various charges and the afternoon ended with a shooting. no one was injured. today we noticed a lot of police already on patrol throughout the park. they will be around tomorrow to keep an eye on safety and the city supervisor says san francisco police won't be the only law enforcement there. >> we will have people undercover out because we won't tolerate the under age drinking. >> because recreational pot is still illegal in the state the city cannot legally partner with a sponsor group. that means tax pay yes sirs have to foot the bill for the extra police traffic and garbage collection. abc7 news. a new poll from the pew

research center show a majority of americans, 53% now support the legalization of marijuana for legal recreational use. recreational pot has been legalized in two states. 23 states including california have legalized marijuana. new at 11:00, an uber driver is under arrest in a possible case of road rage. police say he hit a bicycle on north point and taylor in san francisco. they say the cyclist yelled at the driver and banged on his window and pushed his mirror in. the driver intentionally rammed into him. the cyclist has a punctured lung broken rib and broken clavicle. after seven hours of searching no sign for two men missing from a fatal boat wreck in marin county. the sky 7hd shows the wreckage. about two dozen people searched on land and in the water today before suspending the search around 4:00.

dave brennan and robert vile have not been found. the coast guard recovered two bodies of people from santa rosa. a security researcher was pulled from a you nighted airlines flight after he spoke out about hacking a plane's electron neck system. now he is in san francisco for a security conference after taking another airline. katie spoke with chris roberts today and joins us live from the newsroom tonight. katie? >> chris roberts is a frequent flier and he tries to find weaknesses in security systems in order to help improve them. united airlines says his work goes too far. chris roberts looks like a bodyguard, but his strengths are in researching security systems. most recently those of airlines. >> i am looking at the entertainment system and going i know this can still be breached. why isn't it fixed several

contained. officials say an unintended cooking fire sparked the wildfire. new details about the massive gas line explosion in fresno. pg&e says the pipeline that exploded on friday was inspected for gas leaks and no leaks were found. the explosion occurred when a county equipment operator was building a dirt birm. it injured 11 people and four critically. federal authorities are on the lookout for a group of people who abducted a sea lion public from a beach in los angeles. this is the companion to the missing pup. this one was picked up by veterinarians today. four people threw a blanket on the second pup overnight and wrapped it up and ran off with it. wildlife experts say the sea lion is in danger if not properly cared for. it is also a federal crime since baby sea lions are a protected species. in vaw -- vaw knee shaw, a

this is abc7 news. good evening. in tonight's headlines developing news in san francisco where police just arrested a man who ran from a roll over crash. the man was injured and taken away by an ambulance. it happened on northbound 101 south of tue 280 inter change. the other driver was not hurt. northbound 101 has reopened between allah -- alamaney and caesar chavez after a pedestrian was hit by two cars and killed. police say an uber driver rammed a cyclist near fisherman's wharf. they arrested the driver and are calling it a possible case of road rage. the cyclist has broken bones. expect big traffic delays during the evening rush near golden gate park tomorrow. recreational marijuana userren
