live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. a massive search is about to resume in the east bay for a missing 17-year-old teenager connor sullivan. he was last heard from at school at 10:00 a.m. >> the search team of volume fears and family and friends is gathering as pasadena avenue and stevens creek in cupertino. chris? yes, the community members have joined in the sent for the missing teenager. necessity made their way to a restaurant parking lot behind me here. the community members are

setting up a command post by the cupertino citizen corps with dozens of volunteers going door to door to search for sullivan. 17-year-old connor sullivan went missing monday morning. we will look at his picture. he is approximately 5' 5" talking and weighs about 150 pounds. school staff tell us he was wearing a black shirt and a faded black sweatshirt and blue and black shoes. this is unlike him. he has her done anything like this before. that is according to the family the he was last seen at the high school after attending first period class. he fayed to show up at the remaining classes as well as track practice later that day. we have been told that the sheriff office is checking local parks. they have been distributing flyers but this specific door-to-door search effort is led by the citizen corps a group

of community volunteers. that is the latest in cupertino for abc7 news. thank you chris. fire investigators are look into what started a fast-moving apartment fire in martinez that sent a resident and a police officer to the hospital. this is also a story of heroic neighborhoods helping one another. amy hollyfield is on pine street in martinez. amy? neighbors took care of each other this morning kristen. now everyone is assessing the damage. they are retrieving what they can. look behind me: they were able to keep it to one building but it has still done a lot of damage. four apartment units have damage. two of those are destroyed. the mission pines apartments went up in flames at 5:45 with video captured on a cell phone. the fire was huge by the time it was discovered and 9-1-1 was called. the residented relied on each other to evacuate.

>> i heard neighbors banging on cars, saying "fire." i picked up the kids, took them out and gave them my kids to my neighbors. >> he wasn't finished. as four and five-year-old kids were taken away he stayed behind to help a woman who was still inside her smoke filled home. >> she was stuck. i asked other neighbors to come and kick the door open and that is how they got her out. she is fine. >> she was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. a police officer also inhaled too much smoke as he helped with the evacuation. >> he was not transported but we are keeping an eye on him and making sure that he conditions to be okay. >> everyone else in the apartment come politic was okay but shaken by seeing fire come so close. >> i was scared. very glad it want our building. i was hoping no one would be hurt. it is just scary being in an apartment complex. >> now the focus towns to

has moved forward in the legislature. hundreds of parents and kid whose oppose mandatory vaccination passed the capital spilling into the hallway. the senate education committee passed a bill shortly before 9:00 this morning. the proposal eliminates california personal belief exemptions. that allows mel waivers only for children who have health problems. the bill now goes to the senate judiciary committee. a former police officer sergeant is in jail right now accuses of bilking nearly 500,000 out of a mentally ill woman he once arrested. the 55-year-old mike deal was arrested in modesto on monday. he met the victim when he arrested her for prostitution in 2002. she said she gave him $450,000 paying partly for a home for him to live in and the property taxes and that he promised they would get married when he retired. the hayward police said she did

the "wall street journal" is reporting that google will launch its own phone service as soon as today announcing the plan a month ago. the "wall street journal" said it will allow customers only to pay for the data they use and on the for wi-fi calls and data. the service will initially only be available on nexus and rely on sprint and t-mobile. no word on coverage areas be price, or if other phone models will work. >> if you tried and failed to reach the i.r.s. this tax season you probably were not alone. the agency released official numbers this morning that showed how bad the problem really was. the agency's overloaded phone system hung up on more than eight million taxpayers this filing season. if you were not disconnected only 40 percent actually got through to a real live person. a lot of folks had to wait on hold for more than 30 minutes. the i.r.s. budget has been cut by $1 billion since 2010 which means the agency does not have

covering san rafael, south by pleasanton and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. a sea lion pup lost on a stretch of highway 101 is safe. the deputies spotted the sea lion moving on the road and they stopped to protect the sea lion. these are photos provided bit department. and the deputies say the sea lion was friendly and started rubbing against their legs. it looked comfortable in the car, strapping the pup into the back seat and with guidance from the marine mama center took it back to the ocean where it belongs to is the it free. >> touched by the child safety seat for a sea lion. >> now, the fog is trying hard to clean up. >> we can see more sunshine than yesterday. checking out live doppler hd, can you see exactly highway much

more dry it is as we look at our radar and our satellite you do not see the drizzle from this morning which was heavy at times along the coast. we are getting a little active across the high country and that is the case again and tomorrow scattered thunderstorms and as we look crass lake tahoe we can see it. we have an area of low pressure that has changed our wind pattern from being stout on share to variable and still breezy in a few hours but it has been easier to get rid of the cloud cover than yesterday so we will be warmer today 62 in santa rosa fairfield antioch is 66. livermore is 64. we are 60 or 61 around concord and treatment and los gatos and slow and everyone else in the mid-to-upper 50s. in walnut creek can you see a lot of sunshine looking south along 680 into the san ramon valley and tree pollen, weed grass nothing has changed with air quality.

but on friday, a better chance of showers as we wash that out of the air. more sunshine today, a straight storm our first chance of rain is across the north bay, with a window of 4:00 to 8:00 this afternoon into the evening hours and clouds varied next couple of days and breezy and cooler and the showers are possible on saturday. that is the biggest change in the forecast. here are our highs: looking at north bay you can see the future radar runs around santa rosa and napa and clear lake and lake port and inland maybe in the low-to-mid 70s and the bay mid-to-upper 60s and the coast we have more sunshine and we will struggle into the upper 50s. the game will not be so brisk as last night, and 58 dropping down to 55 and the sun will set at 7:52 and you will see that. our lows tonight will be cooler with mid-40s inland valleys and a last upper 40s to low 50s with the cloud car not so dominant if we see patch drizzle it will be along the coast.
