xygen is running out as they are coming out of the home. this was a really smoky fire. a very dangerous fire. when firefighters arrived they did an aggressive interior attack but they were also dealing with this. firefighters say there was ammunition in the garage believed to be bullets. a neighbor told me the man who lives there alone works as a consultant but also spends time as a marksman. firefighters found a man in a back room believed to be a bedroom. they were not able to save him. he died at the scene. firefighters were in the house and a live wire came down. they had to be extra careful with that while also dealing with flames and exploding ammunition. eventually firefighters got the flames under control. about ten people were evacuated from three adjacent homes. no one else was injured including firefighters. this will be an active scene for a while. fire cause investigators are en route to the scene. they'll help determine what exactly started this fire.

reporting live in mountain view, matt keller abc 7 news. breaking news to tell you about in sonoma county. investigators with the sonoma county sheriff's department are on the scene taping off around the antique society on highway 116. we have reports that it may be tied to a shooting there. emergency crews did take someone to the hospital. no word on what led to the shooting or details about the suspects. we have an abc 7 news crew on scene gathering information and we'll have a live report at the top of the hour. the search will resume this morning for a cupertino teen. volunteers combed the dam and reservoir but they believe that connor is not a victim of crime.

volunteers will resume their search this morning starting at the blue pheasant restaurant at 8:30. a 7-year-old boy is in the hospital in serious condition after being hit by vallejo. the gunfire erupted outside a gathering of about 40 people who were attending a wake. police say the boy was standing on the sidewalk and was hit by a stray bullet. family members rushed him to the hospital. police think five people were involved in the gun fight. investigators recovered at least 20 shell casings at the scene. daley city police are asking for the public's help finding a woman who didn't return home from a shopping trip. she left her home in the st. francis area of daley city on tuesday around 10:00 in the morning. police are concerned because she suffers from a traumatic brain injury, short-term memory loss and is blind in one eye. she was wearing dark sunglasses a cream colored trench coat and

dark blue jeans. time now is 4:32. no word if federal prosecutors will ask the supreme court to review an appeals court decision to throw out barry bonds' criminal conviction. the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco reversed bond's conviction yesterday. judges ruled his rambling answer to a grand jury question in 2003 was not material to the investigation into a performance enhancing drug ring involving balco. victor victor conte is happy that bonds can get on with his life. >> there's been tens of millions of dollars spent on this case. i think there are higher and better uses of the federal taxpayer dollars. i'm glad to see it come to a close. >> bonds says he appealed to clear his name and is thankful and humbled by the outcome. some giants fans they hope the decision will help bonds get

area. support for same-sex marriage reached an all-time high. the poll finds 61% of americans are in favor of same-sex marriage. the poll finds many favor same-sex marriage when it comes to two key issues before the supreme court. 61% of americans oppose allowing individual states to ban same-sex marriage and 62% support requiring states to recognize gay marriages performed legally in other states. the city of napa seeking $12 million in aid for repairs after last year's damaging 6.0 magnitude earthquake. according to napa valley register federal and state officials expect post-quake repairs to take four years to complete. the largest price tag is $6.4 million for for utility and napa predicts needing more than $1 million to restore roads and bridges. the b.a.r.t. board of directors will meet later today

to begin discussing its budget for the next fiscal year. the preliminary budget includes money to relieve crowded trains by adding extra repair shifts in train shops so there will be more cars during peak hours. the proposal also includes expanding deep cleaning programs to keep up with the highest levels of ridership in b.a.r.t. history. b.a.r.t.'s directors would like to improve on time performance by hiring more train controllers and grounds workers. a public hearing for the budget will be held on may 28th. this morning a 91-year-old peninsula woman is celebrating a victory after she and fellow residents won a battle to save two historic redwood trees from being cut down. nbc 7 reporter was there. >> reporter: older than the homes or people that live in them the 90-foot trees stand tall. a new neighbor wants to remove them over safety concerns. neighbors argue it's all part of her renovation plans.

the trees are healthy, haphazard pruning leaves them vulnerable. 91-year-old mary ann filed an appeal to save the trees. the homeowner went as far as to bribe her. >> anyone that thinks they can get away with putting a the city to remove those trees. >> reporter: the homeowner didn't want to be identified defended her decision. >> i'm not here to dissuade the neighbor. >> reporter: in the end commissioners took into account the trees stability but alternatives will be found to reinforce them and trees will remain. >> i feel relieved. i love my neighbors. >> reporter: neighbors are ecstatic the trees are spared

>> bazi thank you. police in two states identified a san jose woman they want to thank for a thank you note she wrote last month. 27-year-old lauren talbert expressed gratitude to the officer for risking his life every day. she left the note a week after san jose officer michael johnson was shot and killed in the line of duty. both agencies in denver and san jose reached out on social media to track her down to thank her for her kind gesture and she finally came forward yesterday. 4:46. this afternoon a concerned resident is holding a one-time demonstration to try to make a popular bike route in san francisco a little bit safer. according to the website neighborhood, a site list will turn into a referee and throw yellow flags for any cyclists that fails to signal or stop are a darts in front of pedestrians
