into san francisco. so no visibility impeded here and traffic not looking slow. >> sounds good. thank you. mountain view firefighters are combing through debris from an early morning deadly fire. this one involved flames and explosions and forced a neighborhood to evacuate their homes during tense moments. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in mountain view at the scene. matt? >> reporter: fire cause investigators are here trying to determine what started this fire early this morning. neighbors tried to help before firefighters arrived banging on windows and doors trying to get the man who lives inside here out of the house but flames and smoke were just too overwhelming. that wasn't the only danger. check out this firefighters say there was ammunition in the garage believed to be bullets. a neighbor told me the man who lives there alone is about 60 years old and works as a consultant.

he also spends time as a marksman competing in shooting competition competitions. firefighters found a man in back room leaved to be a bedroom. they were not able to save him. he died at the scene. while firefighters were in the house, a live wire came down. they had to be extra careful with that also dealing with flames and exploding ammunition. >> danger extremely high. active fire in it the structure. we have a report of a person trapped. we're dealing with ammunition going off in the garage. bullets were traveling through the interior of the garage. we have a live wire in the back that we didn't know until we located it. the danger was pretty high. >> reporter: eventually firefighters got the flames under control. about ten people were evacuated from three adjacent homes. no one else was injured including firefighters. neighbors told me the man who lives in the home has been here for many years. the coroner will determine how he died and make a positive identification. i just talked to the assistant fire chief here on the scene and he says he expects firefighters to be out here until at least

the early afternoon. reporting live in mountain view, matt keller abc 7 news. 6:03 now. new details are pouring in about a wild overnight chase in sonoma county that ended with sheriff's deputies shooting a woman. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in sebastopol. this started with a tip from a citizen, amy? >> reporter: the sheriff's department just released new details explaining why deputies shot a woman here just outside of sebastopol. you can see officers are still here on the scene. the santa rosa police department has now taken over the investigation. they first got a call at 11:45 that someone was driving backwards on southbound 101 near windsor. officers caught up with the driver about five minutes later and say that the driver a woman, was driving recklessly and refused to stop. they followed her here where she

stopped but officers said she would not surrender. as deputies approached the car they say that she drove her car in reverse toward the officers hitting three of them and a patrol car and that is when several deputies fired at her. they fired several rounds. they hit her more than once. they said in the press release it was an undetermined number of times that she was shot. she was taken to the hospital and officers say they do not know her condition. one deputy was treated and released from the hospital after being hit by that car and two others suffered minor injuries. at this point they have not released any information about who this woman is. reporting live just outside sebastopol, amy hollyfield abc 7 news. 6:05 now. the search will resume this morning for a cupertino teen who vanished without a trace. 17-year-old connor sullivan showed up for his first class monday morning.

he was last seen at the school at 10:00. the santa clara county sheriff's department believes connor is not a victim of a crime. volunteers will resume their search for connor this morning starting at the blue pheasant restaurant at 8:30. on the peninsula, officials with the san mateo mosquito control district say a dead bird tested positive for west nile virus. the bird found in menlo park is the first sign of the virus this year in the county. district officials say they'll set up mosquito traps in the area where the bird was found to conduct further tests. the district recommends people drain all sources of standing water on their property including flower pots and pet bowls because that's where mosquitoes lay their eggs. what's next for former giants slugger barry bonds? that's the question. sports experts and fans are tossing around this morning now that bonds has been cleared of an obstruction of justice charge related to a steroid investigation. abc 7 news reporter elissa harrington is live in the

newsroom with more. >> reporter: people are not talking about whether bonds took performance enhancing drugs and whether he deserves a spot in the hall of fame. barry bonds was found guilty of obstruction of justice in 2011 after giving a rambling answer to a grand jury when asked if his trainer ever injected him with anything. even with this overturned conviction, many feel his image will forever be tarnished. lance williams wrote a book on bonds and says the former giant is facing an uphill battle when it comes to the hall of fame. >> there's concern about this steroid era and especially the hall of famers who got in having played clean really are adamant some of them that the hall shouldn't let drug cheats in. >> it's crazy to think that he's going to be in the hall of fame. his name is going to be up there with the other great without the asterisk. that's just not okay.

>> i'm glad that they found him not guilty. >> he's the best hitter ever. >> reporter: bonds issued a statement. part of it reads i'm humbled and truly thankful for the outcome as well as the opportunity our judicial system affords to all individuals to seek justice. bonds already served his sentence of house arrest and paid a fine. according to his lawyers, he wanted to appeal the decision to clear his name. elissa harrington, abc 7 news. >> thank you. it's 6:08 now. robin williams fans will get another chance to see the late actor on the big screen this summer. new at 6:00, time magazine reports his last dramatic film is slated for a july 17th release. the film features williams as a married but closeted bank manager whose life changes when he picks up a young male hustler. the director says the film captures the actor at his best. it's 6:08. you can see we have clouds out there this morning just like the

morning or friday night, whatever you want to call it. a beautiful shot of the beautiful mountain top and those clouds behind it. chilly out there this morning. mike will tell you about the forecast coming up. skywest airlines now says not one but three passengers lost consciousness as a pilot put a plane into a frightening nosedive descending nearly 30,000 feet in just a matter of minutes. it happened yesterday morning on a skywest flight from chicago to hartford, connecticut. there were 75 passengers onboard. the passengers say they had little warning. the plane landed safely in buffalo. passengers were treated and released. mechanics haven't found any issues with the plane. they just know the pilot reported that he was depressurizing. the faa is now investigating. this is frightening as well. happening today new jersey crews will get back to work trying to secure two homes in danger of being swallowed up by a giant gorge. this aerial footage shows the

ravine split open on monday and now two houses are on the brink of sliding away into the delaware river below. the families who live there have evacuated. at 7:00 a.m., "good morning america" will have a look at the scene. the nba is looking to make history today by extending its reach to cuba. it's the first pro sports league to visit cuba since president obama restored diplomatic relations with the country back in december. the nba is kicking off a four-day basketball camp today. one session will be for cuba's men's and women's nationals team and another for children. and tonight the warriors can take a stranglehold >> the warriors won two close games at home against new orleans.

mid to upper 60s. upper 50s to near 60 along the coast like sunset at 60. daley city at 58. downtown south san francisco 64 degrees. low to mid 70s through the north bay. biggest jump in temperatures yesterday. your jump will be smaller. in fact, you're significantly cooler this morning than you were yesterday. that will keep that in check. upper 60s to near 70 throughout east bay shoreline. richmond, oakland, union city all at 68. then we head inland to our valleys. san ramon valley specifically. upper 70s around antioch and fairfield. if you're going to the game, take a broom. hopefully we can sweep them. did you see the celebration last night? you thought they won the world series. 61 to 62 by the end of the game. tonight with the breezes out there, even with lack of cloud cover except for along the peninsula coast, we're going to be in upper 40s to mid 50s. fast forward to friday.

you can see pretty sunny and then the clouds start to increase during evening. it will be dry until 2:00 in the morning through 11:00 in the morning. cold front and showers will roll from the north bay through the south bay and if you're heading into the sierra once again thunderstorms likely. my accuweather seven-day forecast, 50s and 60s saturday and then sunday we'll see 60s with 70s around the bay inland and 60s, 70s and 80s monday, tuesday and wednesday. have a good one. >> we're using 360 mobile to track our traffic as we head along westbound highway 24. we had an earlier report of an accident near fish ranch road causing delays. it was blocking the far left-hand lane. the fast lane. it looks like as we travel in the westbound direction we're not finding any of those delays. at least not yet. let me turn our 360 camera around and traffic is still flowing but we're not finding anything slowing down just yet. let's go to our maps right now where we do have issues. this is through hayward southbound 880.

we don't see cars stacking up toward upper deck of the bridge. however, we do have some delays that are building in the east bay. san jose also moving along nicely along 87 near the tank. where we do have problems on 880 is where we are sending our mobile 360 camera. i'll have that in my next report. >> all right. thank you very much. in the news at 6:31, a mountain view neighborhood woke up to a frightening scene this morning. a home on fire, explosions bursting in the air and word they needed to evacuate quickly. the fire turned deadly and firefighters are now trying to find a cause. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live on the scene with more. matt? >> reporter: fire cause investigators are here on the scene and they could be here for a long time trying to determine exactly what took place here this morning. what started this fire that killed a man. while the scene is calm now, check out this incredible video of what firefighters were facing when they arrived on the scene.

firefighters dealing with arching powerline from the back of the house and exploding ammunition in the garage believed to be bullets. a neighbor told me the man who lives there alone works as a consultant but spends time as a marksman competing in shooting competitions. a man found in the back room was not able to be saved. a couple neighbors tried to help before firefighters arrived but the fire and smoke were just too intense. >> i was lucky i didn't cut my arm. the window broke and all the smoke just came billowing out. it was just black, thick smoke. i knew there wasn't anything we could do at that time. there was no way to go in there and even have one breath of air. >> reporter: gary said the man who lives in the home is about 60 years old and lived in this neighborhood for several years.

about ten people were evacuated from three adjacent homes. no one else was injured including firefighters. lola lane is blocked off. the coroner will confirm the identity of the victim and also his cause of death. i was told by the assistant fire chief they could be out here for a long time as late as early this afternoon. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> thank you. a 7-year-old boy is in the hospital in serious condition after being hit by gunfire in vallejo. sky 7 hd shows investigators on the scene on fifth and cherry street late yesterday afternoon. the gun fire erupted with a group of 40 people attending a wake. the boy was standing on the sidewalk and was hit by a stray bullet. family members rushed him to the hospital. investigators recovered at least 20 shell casings at the scene. the search resumes this morning for a cupertino teen who vanished without a trace while at school. connor sullivan showed up for

his first period class monday morning. the well liked athlete and leader was last seen around the school at 10:00. volunteers yesterday combed the damn and reservoir but the santa clara county sheriff's department believes that connor is not a crime victim. volunteers will resume their search at the blue pheasant restaurant at 8:30. the archbishop will not go to the same-sex marriage march in washington d.c. last week dozens of high profile catholics took out an ad asking the pope to remove the archbishop partly because of his view on that subject. the archdiocese sis in a statement, a number of other bishops will be attending the rally which will allow the bishop to remain home and tend to pastoral needs of the church here at this time. meantime, a group of supporters is raising money behind an ad defending him. the archbishop's vocal critics

do not speak for the majority of catholics in the bay area. support for same-sex marriage has reached an all-time high according to a new abc news poll. the poll finds that 61% of americans are in favor of same-sex marriage. the poll finds that many favor same-sex marriage when it comes to two key issues before the high court. 61% of americans oppose allowing individual states to ban same-sex marriage and 62% support requiring states to recognize gay marriages that are performed legally in other states. >> there is just so much anticipation for diane sawyer's interview with bruce jenner airing tomorrow night. >> abc just released a new pro mowpromo for the interview. this is the first time he has spoken since speculation of him transitioning to a woman started earlier this year.

here is off of highway 116 and we're right outside sebastopol and this is where deputies say a woman hit them with her car and where they opened fire shooting her several times. the sheriff's department first heard about this driver at 11:45 last night. someone called in to report she was driving backwards on 101 and exited the highway. deputies caught up with her five minutes later and was driving recklessly and refused to stop and sped away. they chased her. she stopped here but refused to surrender. investigators say as they approached her they say she put her car in reverse and rammed into three deputies and a patrol car and that's when they opened fire. several officers shot at her multiple times. she was hit a number of times. they wouldn't say how many but say she was taken to the hospital and they don't know her condition. as for the deputy one was treated at the hospital for his
