back here at home let's get' first check of the weather with lisa ar again. >> we have snow in the sierra with a winter weather advisory there. the front has rapidly pushed through the bay area and through the central coast and falling apart. for your morning the rain has ended. there is fog, poor visibility in the north bay. a mile around half moop moon bay. the wind gusts are picking up. some airport delays and a little while before visibility improves. here's a look at the cam. the cloud deck, the low clouds but it will be clearing and we'll be looking at temperatures today from the upper 50s breezy winds at the coast, about 50 in

san francisco. look for a low to mid-60s around the bay and then inland some upper 60s around morgan hill and livermore. we'll pinpoint that warmup line up the numbers and talk about the week ahead in a few minutes. chris? >> many of us woke up to wet roads in the bay area this morning due to that much-needed rain overnight. here's a look at the rain pelting the north bay and the petaluma area. the water creating deep puddling in some spots. the wet weather may be to blame for some accidents. this one happened in the western part of marin county on villain beach road. a car sheered a utility pole and brought down cable lines around 10:00 p.m. then this rollover accident near railroad road that happened around 12:30. a quick look at rain that fell overnight in the east bay. it fell pretty hard around highway 24 in a rinne da. along main street in walnut creek as well.

big traffic problems along highway 12 in sonoma county. a huge tree sfel across all lanes of the highway north of glenn allen. driver isn't see the tree and slammed into it. thankfully, that person is not hurt. fire crews believe soggy ground and high winds caused the tree to come down. it's since been cleared from the lane. you can see live doppler 7 hd on google play. also at abc 7 news.com/app. 8:03 is the time. breaking news out of walnut creek this morning where crews are cleaning up after a car rammed right into a business. this is video from mt. diablo boulevard at a bmw service building. the woman driving was trapped in that red vehicle you see there. crews actually had to use the jaws of life to cut the car apart and get her out. no word on the driver's condition or what led up to the accident. more breaking news out of the east bay. crews are mopping up after a fire that destroyed a home in

the walnut creek hills. the fire broke out at a single family home not far from john muirer medical center following a big house party involving dozens of teens. officials say crews had difficulty gaining access to the fire due to narrow roads and the home's hilly location. fire officials say the home was fully engulfed in flames and the roof collapsed. thankfully, no one was hurt. it's still under investigation and arson investigators have been called to the scene. now to the exclusive interview watched by millions of people last night with olympic champion and reality tv star bruce jenner. jenner revealed to diane sawyer the decision to live from now on as a woman. last night's interview was his last as bruce. lana zak begins our team coverage. >> it was the interview heard around the world. >> for all intents and purposes i'm a woman. >> the twitter #bruce jenner hit

police claiming they used excessive force while booking her. this video that you'll see only on abc 7 may be hard to watch for some people. it shows megan shannon st. patrick's day 2014 in an altercation with officers before hitting her face on the ground. she broke four bones in her face and knocked out several teeth. the police report said she was violently punching and the officer guided her to the ground. her lawyer disputes that. she's embarrassed that she was arrested for being so drunk. but says the punishment didn't fit the crime. >> i should never have gotten that drunk. also, there are ways to detain someone and not break their face. >> b.a.r.t. and oakland police say they can't comment since the case is in litigation. protesters in baltimore will hit the streets today demanding that former oakland police chief step down from his current position as commissioner of the baltimore police department. spoke about an investigation

into the death of freddie gray yesterday. on april 12th gray was arrested after running from police. at some point he suffered a spinal injury and died a week later. he says more than 30 investigators are putting together a timeline to help figure out what happened. but protesters called for him to resign. they say the police department is in disarray. happening now a major detour in effect in one of san francisco's busiest corridors. it's closed between post and gary until sunday night at 11:59 p.m. crews are building an underground pedestrian tunnel across van ness between a new hospital and offices across the street. if you're planning to take b.a.r.t. to the oakland a's game you may have to take a different way. there will be much needed repair work. this is the first of three consecutive weekend closures b.a.r.t. will provide buses but 60-minute delays are possible.

>> scarlet is like most 7-year-old girls. less than thrilled to be doing homework before dinner. but scarlet is also different from most little girls. that's because scarlet was born ezra biologically male. she's one of a growing number of transgender children in the bay area. >> when did you first realize that maybe scarlet was having some gender issues. >> when she was 18 months. we would send her off to preschool dressed as a boy and she came home dressed up as a girl. this happened for three months. we're like, maybe she was getting muddy or painting with paints and that's all they had was extra girls clothes. >> so began this berkeley family's exploration of gender identity and expression. >> that christmas ezra was really sad because all he got were legos. he's like, mom, what i really want is a dress. >> it wasn't long before the family realized that while he

may be anatomically male she was actually female inside. >> right before kindergarten when when she said mom i'm really a girl. ever since scarlet has been living as a girl. >> between two years and now seven years it's been a five-year process of really learning and it's not been necessarily a very smooth path. we have therapists, we have endocrinologists to really help us. it's not necessarily been easy. there's been a lot of crying and growing as a family. >> one group this family reached out to wassel 'em oryville-based gender spectrum. >> we do a lot of direct support to families and care-givers. we do a lot of education and training work with schools. >> a growing number of schools, including scarlet's, are acknowledging that some kids rbt the same on the inside as they present on the outside. that's because research shows children who are forced to conform to gender stereotypes are five times more likely to be depressed. four times as likely to attempt

suicide or use drugs and twice as likely to contract hiv. >> gender is a really unique thing to each person that unfortunately, in our system has been put into these really rigid boxes of male and female boy and girl. that's on an increasing level don't work for a lot of people. >> no one knows how many children struggle with their gender. the number of schools looking for help is growing. while schools learn how to meet the needs of transgender children many families are learning too. >> we tell her, you can always go back. it's fluid, it's ongoing and there's no -- it's not something that you can -- you're on a path you can't change your mind. it's a conversation. >> in the future that conversation could include hormone therapy and possibly even surgery. >> i think we're definitely headed in that direction.

ahsansano owe san jose international airport. this is the fourth time this good samaritan responded to a heart attack victim. >> a 76-year-old man was having a heart attack at the gate. his wife was screaming. what would you do? >> if you're there and witness it, you never forget it. if you're there and witness this and jump in as a courageous bystander, you know you do your part. >> mike van man stepped in and did cpr performing test compressions as shown in this video from the american heart association. he's a volunteer fireman out of lake and plume as county. he has cpr training. he was helped by three others in the terminal. >> the man who comforted the wife was tremendous. the two nurses that helped me perform cpr and do chest compressions and get everything in place they did a great job. >> the airport has 47 aeds

earnings. american airlines earned $932 million in the first quarter despite passengers flying fewer miles. the profits don't necessarily give cheap r airfare. they're cutting capacity to meet demands and to keep their ticket prices high. happening today san francisco will celebrate kings day and all things dutch. in golden gate park -- for the celebration marking the birthday of king willem alexander. the celebration includes music games, a bike tour and food vendors offering dutch delicacies. san francisco's annual tradition in the park is the largest celebration of kings day in the country. it gets under way at 11:00. as we bring in lisa for a final check of weather. grass might be a little damp but at least the roads are dry. >> absolutely. temperatures still in the 50s at 11:00. the winds will be kicking up. afternoon high of just 60 downtown. breezy, not only at the coast but around the bay. 64 in fremont.
