. a google spokesman says the other three employ years are safe. fredinburg was an adventurer who worked out of mountain view. the quake was followed by aftershocks. streets and town squares are covered in rubble with rescue crews searching for survivors. here's more. >> reporter: the 7.8 magnitude quake struck less than 50 miles from kathmandu knocking down historic structures and killing more than 1400. tremors caused avalanches on mt. everest, rescue workers dug through rubble where buildings once stood. the cnn india bureau chief says rescuers face difficult conditions. >> this part of the world infrastructure tends to be very weak. roads aren't as wide. there isn't a robust emergency response system. the police system, the ambulance system, the healthcare system none of these systems are what you would imagine them to be in the west.

>> reporter: a facebook post spread like wildfire about a party at this vacant home and plenty of people have showed up today to take pictures. fire investigators say those people need to share information with them as opposed to just posing pictures on social media. >> it took the engine companies some time to find the actual house where we are but they could see flames and smoke. >> reporter: firefighters struggled to find the home because it's secluded. the teenagers are looking for a hidden place to party, explains one high school junior. >> i do know people that are starting to break in houses and throw their own parties. >> contra costa sheriff's deputies broke up a party last night around 9:00. saying more than 100 teens scattered from the vacant house. deputies stayed for an hour. but by 12:45 reports again from neighbors. now smelling smoke. >> we don't know whether people were here when the fire started.

>> hindered by narrow roads and limited access to water crews took hours to battle the flames, which scorched dangerously close to dry grass. >> there was fire down here we couldn't get out. >> sues began griffin lives down the hill. >> i guess it's good we had the rain last night. >> reporter: investigators are working to contact the current property owner since neighbors say the man who lived here died in the last year and they're also asking for tips from the community. >> no one is speaking up, and since the fire happened, feel like if anyone knows anything they should speak up. >> reporter: nobody was injured but some $750,000 in damage resulted following the break-in and party. >> it's becoming a trend and it's actually kind of scary. >> reporter: a trend firefighters hope to extinguish. >> people across the bay area woke up to soaking wet pavement and grass today. overnight the rain fell pretty hard around highway 24 in orr orein damp walnut creek's main street had a few puddles.

rain pelted petaluma. right now skies above the bay area pretty clear and it's cool out there. that could change. abc7 news meteorologist drew tuma has more with live doppler 7hd. what's next? >> we saw that rain early on this morning, and even in sierra got some snow. looking at the lake tahoe camera. storm clouds still above and decent snowfall over the past 24 hours. glen brook, three inches, reno saul a few flurries fly around with just a trace amount of snowfall. in terms of rainfall back here in the bay area, generally between a quarter and half inch of rain, most of is fell before 6:00 a.m. but look at the santa cruz mountains over an inch of rain. in the wake after the cold front that brought the rain bit of a chill. up 50s to low six's -- 60s is the name of the gay.

>> hackers took eve the tesla's web site and twitter accounts a few hours ago. tweets sent for a short time suggested this was an unsophisticated branch. one displayed a phone number to call to get a free car. it appears the same hackers also attacked the twitter account of tesla founder elon musk. >> a shark-nado actress is at the center of a legal tangle involving blue shields california and a tech executive. blue shield fired aaron kaufman last month, saying he spent more than $100,000 on his corporate card, much of it on trips with girlfriend, tara reed. one of the trips was to the bay area. they ended a warriors game held
