(tdd# 1-800-448-1433) >> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday april 26th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning carolyn. we are looking at the stratosphere way offshore. that means a clear start. temperatures are dropping into the 40s and from the coolest location 44 in napa and 49 san jose, 50 along the coast. not much in the way of fog today. that means full sunshine and temperatures will warm away from the coast. we will see the cool upper 50s 20 near 60 here. no 70s return for san jose. won't be in the 80s today but

closer tomorrow and more changes come for the week ahead. i'll have that for you coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. in developing news this morning plane loads of aid doctors and relief work are arriving in nepal this morning to help the victims of the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake. the death toll now stands at 2152. a huge aftershock overnight sent people screaming and streaming into the streets. more than 5,000 people have been injured. at least 17 people were killed in an avalanche on mount everest triggered by the state including a 33-year-old google employee from the bay area. abc7 news reporter sergio kin takenna has the details. >> daniel fredinburg was on a trip to mount of a rest. the group he was in could be

firmed his death from the avalanche caused by the quake. he was there promoting his nonprofit called "save the ice." >> had a launch of a start-up called "the laundry." we talked to people in his neighborhood and his death is still a shock. three other company employees traveling with him are safe and google is making arrangements to get them back home. it devastated the capital and the surrounding areas. in the bay area families are turning to social media platforms like facebook to track their loved ones. >> our family lives there my cousin said i'm safe. >> his home office has become an information center for the 4,000 or so. he has been using the facebook's recently launched facebook page to track people. >> they are using the viper.

>> what is viper? >> viper is free. >> through those apps he's been able to see his family's pictures of the destruction and tents set up by their home. like many of the residents they are afraid the ongoing aftershocks will collapse what is left of the homes. >> he doesn't have a central temple so etrying to coordinate an event for people to come together and as it continues, google has pledged $1 million for the cause. in the newsroom abc7 news. >> and two men from sonoma county dodged death. one survived an avalanche back in april of last year. this year rider was on everest again when the quake hit setting up avalanches. scott holder was on a different expedition. he spoke to us on the phone last night. >> in california the earthquake

they can remember they are a jolt and make you up at night and they are gone. and this just keeps going and going. this was that feel. >> he is safe. >> and another survivor is fremont resident jonathan koo who was visiting nepal. >> i wasn't too sure about how the building was built. and i thought maybe it was some trucks coming by but then it kept going and getting stronger and stronger. people started screaming. a lot of people ran out. a waiter and i hid under a table. >> elves not injured. he is hoping to return home tomorrow. the united states is extending a disaster response team and $1 million in aid to the himalayan nation. the emergency response included a california-based urban search and rescue area from the

los angeles area. in other news, san francisco police are looking for a driver who hit a motor cycle and then sped away. the crash happened just before 9:00 on howard street in the market neighborhood. motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. police are looking for a white toyota corolla missing part of the front bumper. authorities are investigating a fire that destroyed a vacant home in the wall nut creek hills hours after partyers were kicked out. the fire started just before 1:00 yesterday morning. it took crews hours to put it out because of the home's secluded location. and investigators broke up a hidden party just hours before the fire. as many as 300 teenagers were there. investigators suspect arson. they and neighbors want to know if the parties and the fire are connected. >> i do know people who are assigned to break in houses and throw parties. >> no one was hurt.

police briefly shut down rail traffic in richmond after a man was spotted toting a gun near the tracks. it happened at the richmond amtrak station around 6:00 last night. abc7 news within -- was there while police investigated. they did find something. it turned out to be an air soft gun. the man has been arrested. the driver of an s.u.v. is arrested for tossing three guns when he fled from officers. they tried to stop the mercedes for a traffic violation. they captured the passenger but the driver got away. i'm wearing any warriors blue this morning to celebrate how the warriors took care of the new orleans pelicans last night, sweeping the first-round series in four games. draymond green and steph curry, as usual, did a lot of damage. green on the receiving end of a shaun livingston pass and curry

exploratorium cam showing part of san francisco's skyline lit up in warriors blue and in yellow. the weather today is warmer than yesterday. lisa argen along shortly with a full accuweather forecast. a lawsuit from 2005 is providing parents of students at a san francisco catholic school to try it remove the parrish's controversial pastor. the san francisco chronicle reports according to the lawsuit the pastor shouted at an 11-year-old girl at his former parrish calling her a lawier. this after she reported abuse by another priest. pages are already upset with the reverend by banning girls from serving mass and allowing an apportion pamphlet to be handed out to students as young as 7.

minds everywhere. abc news new york. some disturbing news this morning regarding president obama's unclassified e-mails. the new york times reporting that russian hackers breached the white house's own classified computer system and red the president's e-mails that he sent and received. they apparently did not penetrate the servers that controlled the messages from his blackberry. some senior american officials say the breach is far more intrusive and worry some a than has been bub lickly acknowledged. >> social media is lighting up at president obama's annual try at comedy last night. >> a few months ago a drone crashed. but don't worry. we installed a new state of the art security system. to take a hard look at option toss reduce fog and air pollution. tomorrow morning marks the beginning of the 2015 spare the air season. the air quality management district is encouraging commuters to not drive alone. that's one way to reduce pollution. others are riding a bike or taking public transit buses, trains. monday also marks the beginning of air quality awareness week that runs through may 1st. spare the air health alerts are issued when so zone pollution is forecast to reach unhealthy levels. and seems like we had an overabundance of those last year. >> right. usually the sagging air mass in the winter time. and we can keep the coast real cool today. in fact, the next couple days as the inland valleys continue to warm but it's only going to be for the next 48 hours. then we have the low fog and clouds return tonight. here's a look at the weather.

we don't have low clouds and fog this morning but it will be back. it will allow for the warmup to mainly arrive inland. temperatures now 40s in oakland. much, much cooler this morning. 44 morgan hill and 50 half moon bay. we are looking at a sunny afternoon all over the area. that's going allow for a pretty big warmup today and even bigger tomorrow. 44 napa, 45 petaluma. 50 in livermore. so the inland valleys today still warming but we look for the 80s to arrive for the bigger warmup come tomorrow. temperatures ranging this morning anywhere from 2 to 6 degrees cooler at the coast from the inland valleys. napa 9 degrees cooler. you may have felt it overnight. the clear air mass and the dryer northerly winds taking over today. that will allow later this afternoon for us to warm up quicker. and with plenty of sunshine it

should be a nice day. but at the coast there are still gusty winds. a sunny and warmer day today for most although still some 50s at the shoreline. for the inland valleys we will see more mid-80s tomorrow. but along the coast, once again, it will stay cool and the low clouds and fog actually will be hanging out at the shoreline. a very wide range for your monday. a look at the pacific satellite picture. high pressure is still offshore. we will have the warmer day today, tomorrow and then a trough will arrive come tuesday. this will allow for a pretty big drop on tuesday. and temperatures really don't move much after that. so we will see the low clouds and fog return tonight. here we are tomorrow morning. >> you can see all along the coast the sunny day inland. but we have the fog and the gray skies from point raise to the san mateo coast tomorrow afternoon. this is starting as soon as tomorrow. but as for today it should be a

sunny, very pleasant day with numbers in the low 70s from san jose to morgan hill. 70 santa cruz and that's a warmup. on the peninsula look at the sunny skies. mid-to upper 50s tore most. we could see a couple patches of fog with the cool day there. san francisco a few degrees warmer today at 64. up in the north bay, this is where you will see the big jump really with 75 in santa rosa and 73 around vallejo. 69 oakland today and 68 fremont. you head inland and plenty of 70s. some locations in the upper 70s from concord today to brentwood with live more at about 75 degrees. the accuweather seven-day forecast, the game over in oakland today should be in the upper 60s with the west wind. tomorrow looking at mid-80s and the westerly winds stay with us each and every day. keeping temperatures just in the upper 50s to near 60 at the coast. numbers mainly in the upper 70s in the inland valleys. very spring like with a breezy average. here's what is showing up on the

a few flights were careful as volcanic ash spread over more of the southern half of south america. in baltimore, calm returned after a day and night of unrest. it was over the deaths of a black man in custody. yesterday crowds swept through the streets and as night fell vandals set fire to cars and garbage bins. this, after the death, of mr. gray. he suffered a spinal injury after being arrested. gray's family is calling for calm. >> we follow the old thing an eye for an eye then we all lose our sight and the path for justice is right in fronts of our eye. >> police and baseball fans to briefly remain in their seats after last night's boston red sox-baltimore oriole game ended. that came after a violent protest erupted near camden

park. >> thousands rallied against same-sex marriage. yesterday speakers at the march for marriage were encouraging states to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. the rally comes ahead of tuesday's same-sex marriage case argument before the u.s. supreme court which deals with states' rights. an inmate has died at a contra costa county jail. the jail said the woman collapsed while receiving medical treatment at the west county detention facility in richmond. staff performed cpr on her. paramedics later pronounced the 51-year-old antioch resident dead. the city of petaluma is talking about ways to cut water use. tomorrow city leaders will meet to discuss what conversation measures can be improved. from reducing water use to recycling water. one possible conversation measure leaders will not be

discussing is a temporary building moratorium. petaluma was the first sonoma county city to publicly discuss a moratorium on development. but the city council backed off that idea. the city needs affordable housing and rental units, but doesn't want to overtap water resources. a homeowner's association in the east bay is teaching its residents to conserve during the drought. abc7 news was at the village yesterday as homeowners learned how to make their lawns more drought resistance. experts showed them how to sheet mulch, which is layering compose, cardboard and mulch on your lawn. they also found out which plants require the least amount of water. one homeowner said this is a much better option than having a brown lawn. >> it's doing something really good to benefit my neighborhood and the natural life.

the warmest day of the work week will be tomorrow but not for everyone. we won't warm up dramatically closer to the shoreline. it will get quite toasty with 80s arriving tomorrow. let's take it day-to-day from the pacific satellite picture. here's the high i spoke of. situated offshore. building today and tomorrow. then it moves to the east and the trough of low pressure slides down from the north. it that happens then we will see the cooler weather come midweek and then things turn around a bit for thursday into friday. today everyone is sunny and warmer from the mid-50s in in the northern sierra after yesterday's snowfall. only within a couple of inches to a foot here. looking very pretty in the sierra. 62 in the suggests earn sierra with 73 in los angeles. still kind of breezy through the pass around southern california. and we do look for the temperatures today in the mid-to upper 70s depending on where you are. and the inland east bay. that may bump up dramatically

into the 80s. notice we are warmer back into the mid-80s. let's look at oakland quickly. you notice upper 60s, mid-70s. here's the drop tuesday and wednesday. then the warmup again on thursday and friday. maybe some better luck today over in the east bay with the high of 69 today. 65 in san mateo, 73 san jose. a look at the coast. just upper 50s bodega bay and a little fog along the coast. over in oakland mid-60s. game time 1:05. the accuweather seven-day forecast will warm up today, tomorrow and slightly cooler tuesday and wednesday. and then notice we say into the mid-and upper 70s inland. still kind of mild around the bay by the end of the week. so looking very typical. >> with any hope of more? >> yeah. >> all right. thanks lisa. americans spend billions of dollars a year on bottled water. and unfortunately many of those plastic bottles end up in landfills.

best water in the world. hetch hetchy water continually seems to be among the cleanest, highest quality. >> so she hopes greener alternatives like this catches on. the filter will be sold first here in the u.s. but soon after they plan to release it in the developing world places where water filtration could be a matter of death. for countries where electricity is squares the new filters use only gravity. they are inexpensive compared to the alternatives. >> the water trucks that come into small villages and charge people up to 25% of their monthly income for water. >> but they provide an opportunity in those countries. >> they are targeting cool age children ages 4 to 14. when they leave the home they don't have access to safe brink drinking water. >> means kids don't have to get friendly with these. >> this is e. coli and salmonella which is also pretty nasty. >> it's also sold to campers at
