is. we're waiting to hear from sfo as to any delays. clouds will fade at noon. 80s are gone. 54 to 66. going to be a little brisk this evening. definitely cooler than last evening. mike. thank you. let's see if the traffic situation is improving. >> unfortunately it hasn't. let's go right now outside to san jose. i want to show you this drive to 101 northbound side. it is a parking lot there. it is bumper-to-bumper all because of an accident up ahead at brokaw road. it's involving a truck and motorcycle and injuries are possibly involved here. traffic is jammed coming up from before the 280 split. this accident happened at 3:02 on the nimtz freeway. five injuries were reported. all lanes have reopened right near davis streets, the drive, you are at top speeds. thank you.

developing news in baltimore this morning. national guard troops are on the ground throughout the city following violence that broke out after yesterday' funeral of a black man who died in police custody. firefighters are still dousing flames from seven fires that broke out overnight. the violence started in west baltimore and spread to the eastern part of the city close to camden yards. last night's game between the white sox and orioles was postponed because of safety concerns. at least 15 officers were hurt and at least two dozen people were arrested. a 10:00 p.m. curfew begins tonight. the demonstrates were sparked from the death of freddie gray. the 25-year-old man died after suffering a spinal cord injury and not receiving immediate medical attention while in police custody. we'll show you the front page of the "baltimore sun." riots erupt. the mayor says she's confident the will of good can overcome the destructive interests of a few.

six people are under arrest in los angeles on the heels of a protest held in solid dart with baltimore. four protesters were arrested for refusing to disburse when officers told them to. the other two were arrested for trying to set the others free. students are holding a peace rally at stanford university today as the university investigates a possible hate crime. crime, swastikas painted on a house. >> let's take a look at some of the images. the swastikas were discovered early saturday morning. the graffiti has been cleaned

up. it's important to know that sae is not a jewish fraternity. it's unclear why they were targeted. we can tell you that the university and campus police are investigating the vandalism as a possible hate crime. as you'll recall there's been a lot of debate on campus this past year over stanford's endowment holdings of certain countries that do business in israel and some wonder if the vandalism is related to that issue. >> it's scary to think that people still carry this type of hey dread. -- hatred. i think stanford in general is -- i feel very safe here but something like this is just shocking and surprising. >> the same type of gold paint was used to create another symbol of hate on fraternity row. van dals hit laitaliano.

students plan to meet in white plaza around 9:00 p.m. hoping to send a clear message that hate doesn't belong on their campus. we're live at stanford. happening today, the nation's highest courts will hear a landmark case that could decide the legality of same-sex marriage once and for all. at issue is whether or not same-sex couples have the constitutional right to marry. they will also explore whether states must recognize unions legally done elsewhere. legal observers are closely watching the justices to see if they offer the first public indication of where they stand on the dispute. a stanford freshman will be at the hearing to speak up for her mothers.

there's new evidence this morning that bullying in school can have a long-term effect on your kids. being bullied as a child can lead to depression in adulthood. researchers say depression could be link to both physical and mental abuse. the impact was more noticeable by kids who were bullied by think peers compared to those by adults. everybody is waiting for the

you can see behind us the changes from yesterday morning. we do have a lot of cloud cover out there and live seeing it as it continues to fill our neighborhoods. the fog is getting thicker for your morning commute. check out this beautiful picture of the sun rise this morning. isn't that absolutely gorgeous. here's a look at our forecast highlights mostly sunny, even though we're starting off cloudy. we'll be mostly sunny by the afternoon hours. cooling sea breeze hit san francisco. by 4:00, we were 57 degrees, that was a 19-degree drop. high temperatures will reverse, though warm again on thursday and friday then they will drop back to seasonal levels this weekend. we'll still be dry all seven days of the forecast. here's a look at a rain maker that's going to move to our north and because of that we're going to get the sea breeze.

the low clouds will be joined by high clouds this afternoon and tomorrow and that's another reason why we'll be cooler the next two days. how much cooler? upper 70s and 80s. we'll be in the low 70s but mid to supper 60s for the northern part of the peninsula if you will. upper 50s along the coast, the peninsula coast will be the last to see sunshine late this afternoon. with afternoon sunshine, only upper 50s at your coast. 64 in newark to hercules and caster valley, 68. the sea breeze will take the upper 80s near 90 out of our highway four quarter and low 80s.

angels take on the a's dropping down to 55 degrees, dress warmly. here's a look at the seven-day forecast. tomorrow a lot like today a lot of claeds giving away to sunshine and temperatures pretty close to average. we'll get an off shore wind. 80s to 90s around the bay and inland and you can see that reverses and we'll have that slow cooling trend throughout the weekend. we've had major problems all morning long on the roads, unfortunately, and right now, we're starting off with san jose where we still have a significant alert northbound highway highway. 12 miles per hour is going to be your top speed. here's a live look at the back up. you can see it's completely jammed. parts of this freeway looking like a parking lot. you've got delays from story road. we're looking at a pretty significant delay in excess of 25 minutes to get you right to

the airport. i highly suggest you give yourself extra time if you have a flight to catch. eastbound side of highway 4 at hill crest, this crash has turned into an accident with at least one blocked and drive in the westbound direction pretty rotten at this hour as you make it into bay point. let's go outside to our mobile 360 camera where we're traveling westbound along 580. we just passed airway. if you are traveling along in the eastbound direction, not finding a problem in sight. chilling video from washington state showing a close call involving three young children who were simply heading to school. >> take a look here. the kids are about to step on to the bus when a speeding suv suddenly zips right in front of them and they are nearly hit. the driver never stopped. the mother of the children is pleading for information about the speeding driver. she wants that driver to face criminal charges. coming up on good morning america at 7:00 a closer look

split. this is video is the shot earlier this morning in san leandro. an inferno because of a seven-car pile-up, five of which were totaled. all lanes were shut down at 880 on davis street and then all lanes reopened. we're looking at clear conditions as you make the drive. there were unfortunately injuries involved here. more details straight ahead. tensions are running high in baltimore this morning after a day of rioting and looting that has sent more than a dozen people to the hospital. now the mayor and national guard are trying to regain control. abc 7 news reporter alyssa harrington is live with more. >> reporter: the national guard was called in and they will help enforce a 10:00 p.m. curfew starting tonight. here's some live video from baltimore this morning. you can see a lot of police officers out there. they are preparing for more possible protests and more possible riots later on today.

this was the chaotic scene last night. several fires broke out. angry protesters rioted. they torched police cars stores. 15 officers were hurt. two are still in the hospital. >> this is not protesting. this is not your first amendment rights. this is just criminal acts doing damage to a community that is challenged in some ways that do not need this. >> reporter: the demonstrations were sparked from the death of 25-year-old freddie gray. his funeral was yesterday. he died in police custody. he suffered a spinal cord injury during his arrest and was not given immediate medical attention. tonight's orioles-white sox game could be affected about because of safety issues and curfew. live in the newsroom, alyssa harrington abc 7 news. more than 2,000 people have

plelk to meet for a community wide clean up at 7:00 a.m. they say they have a fan ready to take all the trash to a recycling center. about 100 protesters took to the streets in oakland in support of the protests in baltimore. the group moved from the downtown area toward interthe interstate. the california highway patrol rushed the protesters to keep them from getting on to the freeway. police made no arrests. we'll have continuing coverage of the baltimore riots on air and on line. our coverage continues now on twitter at abc 7 news bay area. and just about 20 minutes the u.s. supreme court will hear a landmark case that could decide the legality of same-sex marriage once and for all. the case is being closely watched across the country, especially in san francisco's castro district. amy hollyfield is live with the

story. >> reporter: a lot of eyes will be watching this today. this is a long time coming. think about massachusetts becoming the first state to allow same-sex marriage all the way back in 2004. this has been a long time coming. there has been a quite a long time build up. on saturday, there was 15,000 people attended a rally. right now, 37 states allow same-sex marriage. about a dozen have bans in place and that is one of two issues in front of the court today. >> the first part is whether the constitution requires that states offer same-sex marriage throughout the united states in all 50 states. >> and the second issue the justices will consider is whether marriage in one state should be recognized in a state that does not sanction it. arguments are scheduled to last about two and a half hours. the decision is expected in late june.

reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield abc 7 news. thanks a lot. it's now almost 6:36. in nepal the death toll continues to rise from the devastating 7.8 earthquake. this morning authorities say at least 4,400 people were killed. the nepalese prime minister tells rite -- reuters, the death toll could reach 10,000. hundreds of thousands are still camping outside without clean water or sanitation. officials say so many relief flights are now arriving at kathmandu airport that it's creating major backups on the tarmac. "new york times" is profiling an american photographer who is in nepal helping tell the story of destruction to millions on social media. patrick adams is using his twitter feed to display a photo library of pictures like this. it shows a little boy resuscitatesd as being pulled

new this morning in the east bay voters have rejected a ballot measure that would have kept two east fire stations open. 53% voted against the proposal that would have generated more than $20 million over five years for the fire department. officials say station 54 in brentwood will remain closed and station 94 in nightton will also close very soon. that will leave the county with three remaining fire stations in oakley, discovery bay and brentwood. four firefighter positions will be eliminated by july 1st.

neighborhoods except for sunnyvale . same thing in red wood city, we have low to mid 50s just about everywhere. let's take a look at what's going out. there you go. there are your clouds as they roll through the east bay hills cam as we look to the south there. we'll use that as a backdrop. we actually talk about mostly sunny conditions. a cooling in san francisco spreads into all of our neighborhoods today. high temperatures will reverse the cooling trend on thursday and friday. they will drop back weekend. between 11:00 and 12:00, they will finally clear out of all of our inland and bay area neighborhoods. we'll see a little clearing from north to south along the coast. they will be pretty stubborn as they cling to the coast.
