electrical cause. >> police are searching for the last three home invasion suspects still on the loose after gun fire exchange that stretched from the east bay to the peninsula. amy has the latest. >> reporter: police are telling people they should not be afraid. this all started at about 5:00 yesterday afternoon in fremont. it started as a home invasion robbery but the police chased the suspects all the way across the bridge into men low park. when they got here they ditched their cars and took off on foot. they did fire at officers. they didn't hit any of the officers but did hit one of the police cars. police caught two men and recovered their guns but the third man got away. >> there's no reason to be alarmed in this area here. again, we have some leads of where we believe we may find the suspect and we're actively pursuing those leads. >> police did search a vacant

home at one point. no luck. the men were not in there. that third man was not in there. they did set up a perimeter, searched it thoroughly but did not find them. they will be looking for surveillance cameras. no one was hurt in this incident. >> amy, thank you. 4:31 now the family of a nine-year-old boy who was stabbed to death in his home in discovery bay is expected to speak out for the first time. the suspect faced arraignment yesterday. the judge ordered him to return to court in three week to enter a play. schulze has admitted to killing the nine-year-old on sunday. the victim was the younger brother of schultz's best friend. and attorney for the family says the bay area group they were unaware of any mental health issues when they invited schultz

to sleep oef the night of the murder. a woman jogging along a trail in river more was ambushed and sexually assaulted in broad daylight. the fourth attack in three years. allen wong has more. >> reporter: it was just before 6:00 p.m. when a scruff fi looking man ambushed and sexually assaulted a 29-year-old jogger. it happened here. >> the suspect came at her from behind and was able to grab her. >> i am really disturbed that this happens in broad daylight at a time frame when a lot of people are on the trail. >> but there were no witnesses to the attack. investigators searched for more evidence along the trail lined with homes. it's the fourth sexual on the same trail in three years. >> we can't rule out that they're not connected and we don't have a common denominator to connect them all other than

authorities in baltimore say it was mostly peaceful for a second straight night. a fight broke out shortly before last night's 10:00 curfew. it was quickly broken up. by 10:30 only a few protesters remained. dozens of officers were on the scene. the protests are in response to the death of freddie gray. the washington post cites a police document and reports a prisoner who shared a transport van with gray could hear gray banging on the walls of the vehicle and he believed gray was trying to hurt himself. the two were separated by a partition. i's not clear if any evidence backs up the prisoner's story. tomorrow, may 1 wst protesters are threatening to shut things down to call attention to social injustices affecting minorities and the working class. the international long shore and

warehouse union plan to help lead the protest. the protests are scheduled to begin at 5:30 a.m. tomorrow morning. police are called in extra patrols. new details in the massive fire that destroyed a building back in january. investigators now say it was accidental. according to the chronicle, a preliminary report on the says it could have been caused by faulty wiring. the report says hard wired smoke detectors didn't work. one person was killed. 58 others were left homeless when the fire destroyed the three-story building. happening today, thousands of nurses across the bay area plan to hold a one-day strike. nurses say setter health continues to reject their concerns over unsafe staffing that puts patients at risk. they're angry over cuts to their health coverage. center officials are denying the

claim saying that their staff is adequate and their health nervous is good. japan's prime shinzo abe will be in the bay area today. his visit to stanford, face book and tesla comes after a congressional address yesterday. however, he stopped short of offering an apology. u.s. lawmakers wanted for japanese conduct during the war. san jose congressman mike honda was among those pressing for a direct apology saying abe's refusing to squarely face history is an insult to the experience of the 200,000 girls and women from the asia who suffered during world war ii. this is unacceptable. >> starting to taste the warmup yesterday. let's see if they're going to continue in that direction.
