tragedy in livermore this evening. at least two people were killed. a woman and a 14-month-old baby girl when a car plowed into a backyard party at an apartment complex. it happened just before 7:00 tonight. the speeding vehicle missed a turn before ramming into the people at the party. the police arrested the driver on suspicion of drunk driving. we'll have more later in the newscast. now to tonight's other top story. >> it doesn't make any sense. >> we did not do as good of a job as we should have. >> tough words in oakland after one of the most destructive marches in recent history and

today crews began to clean up the damage. abc 7 reporter jonathan bloom spend the weekend among the wreckage. >> businesses on auto row aren't taking chance. >> there were boards on it and damage done. >> reporter: this is one of the many buildings that were damaged. >> a very small group of people with rocks in their pockets and malice in their hearts disturbed what was otherwise a positive day in oakland. >> reporter: the mayor and police chief spoke at a press conference. the vandals weren't with the may day protesters. >> we don't know who they are. >> reporter: when she is not marching she works at this kfc, heavily damaged in the chaos. >> i don't want to see my community and workplace look like this.

coming up later this hour. pittsburg police are looking to the deaths of two people, possibly attempting to burglarize a house when the homeowner shot and killed them. it happened here just after 9:00 last night. officers arrested four people during a home invasion robbery at the same address this week. the driver of a truck is in jail tonight accused of backing to a crowd of people in a bay point parking lot. it happened at 2:00 a.m. sheriff's deputies have not released the driver's identity but say the driver was driving at high speeds when it happened. the suspect hit two cars before being detained by security. a viewer shared this video with us a car overturned and landed on the sidewalk along a steep block of broadway in

russian hills just after 9:00. investigators searching for clues after an oakland police officer escaped injury in a crash this evening. a silver suv collided with the patrol vehicle at 17th and castro streets. it is unclear which driver was at fault. now to that big fight in las vegas that has everyone talking. seats going for thousands of dollars. manny pacquiao versus floyd mayweather. a woman in san francisco says that pacquiao is like a son to her. >> reporter: this mayweather-pacquiao match-up is a huge deal for the filipino community across the bay area. but this woman remembers him from 14 years ago when he first came to the united states.

47 years old. >> reporter: he was on a vacation vacation when he died on friday. no one is saying how he died but friends and family are turning to social media to share their grief. his death was announced on facebook and he is asking friends and family to post memories to dave's facebook page. goldberg and sandberg have two children. online tributes are pourg in. zuckerberg posted dave is an amazing person. the sales force ceo tweeted goldberg was the kindest most generous loyal husband and sweetest friend. robin roberts tweeted sad to hear dave goldberg as died. goldberg joined survey monkey in 2009. he started launch media.

in tonight's headlines, sheriff's deputies believe a speeding driver crashed into a crowd in a restaurant parking lot, killing one person. eight others went to the hospital. witnesses say the driver backed into the group in in bay point at 2:00 this morning and the driver is in jail tonight. in oakland, residents, merchants and police agree that the damage from the protests is among the worst they've seen. it happened when a peaceful march turned violent last night. a 10:00 p.m. curfew is in effect in baltimore for a fifth straight night. there were more protests today in baltimore but some of the anger seems to have softened.

face charges of second degree assault. officer porter and white face charges of involuntary manslaughter among others. a few protesters were arrested saturday night. jim ryan, abc news, baltimore. new york city police arrested a man they believe shot one of their officers this evening. the officer is in critical condition after being shot in the face. other officers rushed him to the hospital in a patrol car. the suspect was hiding a handgun in his waistband. humanitarian workers are more worried about diseases spreading in nepal a week after a massish earthquake. the death toll stands at 7,000 people. the earthquake has effected more than 8 million people. that is more than a quarter of

nepal's population. recovery teams want more helicopters to reachitised mountain villages. native americans in california are protesting the pope's plan to cannonize a franciscan missionary. the pope says he will elevate him to sainthood this fall. protesters say the pope should instead criticize sera for his role in wiping out native populations. >> and because of that, i personally can't see someone who started a system like this worthy of being cannonized. >> i believe he was a very, very good person in a very, very bad situation and that situation was a sticking rotting institution that we known as colonialism.

scene to look at. that car stuck in the backyard and one victim's body may still be stuck under the car. this happened at 7:00 in the afternoon. and four hours later the scene is packed still with police and investigators. police do have a man in custody in connection with this incident. he is 35 years old and charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. witnesses say he appeared to have lost control of the vehicle when it flew off the road and the car struck a woman and her 14-month-old baby girl and injured two little boys 6 and 7 years old. police and witnesses say the driver was not in any shape to be behind the wheel. >> the first officers on scene saw signs of intoxication. it will be a while before we talk about what we know. >> i was in my window and i saw the car passing by and it was going really fast.

encouraging you to donate to a crowd funding campaign for residents who lost everything. >> i expected to raise a few thousand dollars. >> reporter: zack happened by on his bicycle when fire swept the building. he was upset that gawkers were filming instead of helping. he started the go fund me drive. and suddenly he had $180,000. >> it blew my mind. i guess i never realized the power of just -- onmine fundraising. >> reporter: he also didn't realize the responsibility. >> i had people e-mailing for my credentials, who am i, what do i do? why am i doing this? it got so overwhelming that i realized that these people's concerns are valid. >> online fundraising flat forms are so new there is no meaningful

treated fairly or single mothers. there's no rules. >> reporter: they had to distribute $165,000. a couple of con artists tried to claim they lived in the building. but zack handed out checks ranging from 6,000 to $40,000 to victims. >> god bless them. >> reporter: like this couple you used their gift for clothes, a bed, tv and dining table as they bunk temporarily. zack says he hopes it was fair but wants to know sure. >> there should be a discussion about the vetting process that crowd funding sites use to make sure that people are not taking advantage of the technology. >> reporter: a few out and out ripoffs have been arrested for fraud. but those cases are rare and a fair cry from honest work of folks like zack. i'm michael finney.
