>> good morning, everyone, i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, may 3rd. let's start with a quick look at the whether with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> hey there, carolyn. it is mostly cloudy. we have a few areas of partly cloudy sky a look from our roof camera. you see a little bit of a breeze out there. numbers are all in the 50s in a narrow range. low 50s for most. mid-50s's around san carlos and oakland. 52 san jose. look at the on shore flow to stay with us throughout the day today. by 10:00 we are sunny in most areas but the fog is not clear to the coast. in fact the westerly winds will

kick up throughout the afternoon and more temperatures today in the 60s and 70s. here's a look at emeryville right now. we will look for low 60s in the city. breezy winds and cloudy at the coast. low 70s out toward san jose and the inland east bay. mid-70, a maybe an 80-degree. we will look for the cooler days of the week tomorrow. maybe a few sprinkles coming up as well. carolyn. >> thank you, lisa. a 35-year-old man from livermore is in custody this morning accused of killing a mother and her baby daughter while driving drunk and injuring two other children. police tell us it was just before 7:00 last night when the driver barreled down murrieta boulevard, missed a turn and slammed into the backyard of an apartment complex. a family was there celebrating the first communion of a child. >> based on the weight of the vehicle and the condition of it it appears that speed was definitely involved.

a 35 mile per hour roadway and probably much faster than that. >> i saw the car passing by and it was going really fast. out of the nowhere it lost control and went into the guy's backyard. >> a 40-year-old woman and her 13-month-old daughter were killed. two boys, ages 6 and 7, were injured. >> a driver of a truck is accused of backing into a crowd. people in a bayport parking lot killing one and injuring 8 others. it happened around 2:00 yesterday morning at a restaurant on port chicago highway. the man was pittsburgh was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving charges. the 24-year-old gomez of san pablo died at the hospital from her injuries. oakland is recovering from

what police are calling one of the most destructive marches in recent history. yesterday crews began cleaning up the damage. abc7 news reporter jonathan bloom has more on the wreckage. >> business owners on auto row around taking any chances. but sometimes the boards don't help even. >> there were some boards that were yanked off and there was further damage done. >> his building was one of many damaged in the march. one that began peacefully but took a turn for the worst. >> a small group of people with rocks in their pockets and mallots in their hearts disturbed what was otherwise a very positive day in oakland. >> the mayor and police chief spoke at a morning press conference. the may day march against police said the vandals are not them. >> and when she's not marching she works at this kfc. >> i don't want to see my job and workplace and community look like.

this you have to explain to your customers what's going on and that's what we've been doing all day. >> perhaps the worst destruction was at this hyandai dealership. more than 50 new cars were vandalized, some beyond repair. neighbors came down to look. >> it doesn't make any sense. it damages the neighborhood. >> police admit they could have done better. >> we do feel we did a good job yesterday as far as protecting human life. however, obviously did not go well in regards to protecting property. >> and they have been out helping merchants cleanup. >> working with litter, anything that they need. >> and the police have made twelve arrests. they are asking the public for any video of the march that would help them identify more suspects. jonathan bloom. abc7 news. >> pittsburgh police are looking into the deaths of two people possibly burglarizing a house when the homeowner shot and killed them.

it happened on juit avenue near juit court after 9:00 friday night. officers say they arrested four people during a home invasion robbery at the same address earlier this week. and the twos incident could be related. in san francisco, abc7 news christian davis shared this video with us. a car overturned, landing on the sidewalk along a steep block of broadway near taylor street in russian hill just after 9:00 last night. paramedics took at least one person to the hospital. investigators are searching for clues after a crash involving an oakland police officer last night. a silver s.u.v. collided with the officers' ford explorer patrol vehicle at 17th and castro street next to interstate 980. it is unclear which driver was at fault. the officer was not injured.

now to that big fight in las vegas that's had everyone talking. it was a star-studded event. seats going for thousands of dollars. manny pacquiao went down to floyd mayweather. mayweather is undefeated and now the undisputed welterweight champ with a $1890 payday. fight was personal for a woman in san francisco. she said pacquiao is like a son to her. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has the details. >> from the moment the first punch was sworn, one woman at this house party was nervous. >> some fights i don't watch because i'm scared but this time i want to watch. >> like many filipino homes across the bay area, her family

did come together to watch a boxing match. they threw a party to celebrate a national icon. but for some it is a little more special. >> like my son now. he live in my house. >> back in 2001 when manny pacquiao first came to the united states, she hosted the then unknown fighter in her home for a month. now he's in a match-up against mayweather worth hundreds of millions and dollars in an event seen by many pay for view watchers around the world. >> he came from a humble beginnings. now he's really big and part of the filipino community. >> this man is a pacquiao fan. he she would out more than $7,000 to host a 300-person views event and sold out tickets two weeks ago. for home subscribers 100 bucks was the going rate to watch it with friends and family. in the end it didn't turn out the way he had hoped. >> heartbreaking. but he did his best. >> she's still proud of pacquiao and so is everyone else here. she said her husband would have been especially proud.

>> welcome back. this is a live look from our golden gate bridge camera. remember that hot day that we had last week? well, nothing like that this week. in fact, we may get a few drops of rain. lisa argen along shortly with a full accuweather forecast. >> silicon valley and beyond reeling this morning from the unexpected death of a tech executive. dave goldberg, ceo of survey monkey and husband of facebook ceo cheryl sandburg was just 47 years old. >> dave goldberg was on a vacation overseas with his wife, cheryl sandberg, when he died friday. that's according to a facebook post by mark zuckerberg. no one is saying how he died but friends and family are turning to social media to share his grief. in fact, his brother, robert announced dave's death on

facebook and he's asking friends and family to post memories and pictures to his facebook page so his children can see what he meant to people. goldberg and sandburg have two children. thoughts are pouring in. zuckerberg posted, "dave was an amazing person and i'm glad got to know him." the sales force tweeted, "goldberg was the kindest, most generous, loving father, loyal husband, great ceo and sweetest friend." "good morning america" robin roberts tweeted, "sad to hear he dave goldberg as died. condolences to the family." he joined survey monkey in 2009. he later launched another company. one post said dave's courage leadership and passion was only overshadowed by his compassion

friendship and heart. his greatest love was for his family. katie marzullo, abc7 news. and mark zuckerberg has posted cheryl sandburg flew back yesterday and she has requested privacy and will given an update when she's ready. the san francisco giants a reaching out to the family of a little league player who was killed last year. the 9-year-old was stabbed to death. yesterday his spirit filled a brentwood baseball field where family and friends honored the player during a game against the giants. they called it joy for jordy. they placed his name and number on shirts, behind home plate banners and in the dugout. >> we were in last place and he would always be in our dugout and always in our lineup. >> i bet he's looking down with the biggest smile from ear to ear. >> jordy's father threw out the first pitch. an 18-year-old is charged with his murder >> if you have a bike you know a

helmet is a must. 90 percent of beakers killed in the last decade were not wearing a helmet. when shopping for one, you probably noticed a huge price difference. does spending more money make you safer? "7 on your side" michael finney partnered with consumer reports to find out. >> good morning. 90 percent of the bicyclists killed in the last two decades were not wearing a hem met. no question it can be a real life saver. consumer reports tested 23 helmets. >> joseph never rides a bike without a helmet especially after a serious dent two years ago. >> broke my collarbone punctured my lung and i'm sure thankful i had the helmet or i'm sure the injuries would have been far more severe brain damage, anything. >> consumer reports tested helmets to see how many they would protect you in an accident. a sensor detectives how much force would be transferred to the rider's head in a crash.

side." >> youth soccer players and their families want changes in the smoking policy at leave advice stadium. they are urging the greeters to move the designated smoke area or ban smoking all together. that's because the smoking section is right next to the soccer fields. smoking is band in the soccer complex and the seating area of the levi's stadium. maryland's governor called for a day of prayer and peace sunday after week a unrest in baltimore. it will take center stage on "this week." >> the arrest of six officers seem to have calmed the protests. they will be talking about this on "this week" with george stephanopoulos this morning. >> when death comes knocking

carlos, 53 oakland and san francisco sitting in the low 50s. you see the cloudiness here from our emeryville camera where it will take time for the clouds to clear. 50 up in petaluma. drops down to 49 in santa rosa. the low clouds and fog with us into concord and livermore and the southwesterly wind gusting to near 30 miles an hour by the delta transporting all the cool air from mt. tam. we will have sunshine. it will take a while and it will be breezy so we will have the cooler day today from the weekend, but tomorrow will be the coolest day. in fact many more cool days ahead as a trough heads our way tomorrow and into thursday. that one could contain a few raindrops. there's a system that will push through tomorrow and allow for an even cooler day. but as for today the winds kick up to near 20 miles an hour and it will be midmorning when the cloudiness peels back. we will look for sunshine, but we also have a high surf

advisory beach hazard statement from the central coast down through southern california. south-facing beaches around santa cruz you are looking at those sets getting kind of high and pretty dangerous out there. the temperatures in the water are very cold. don't know why you would want to be out there unless you are a surfer and have the wet suit. here we are in san jose look at highs in the low 70s. around average. a little dip come the early part of the week. but the next system will cool us offer even more and maybe offer a few raindrops especially from san francisco on south. hopefully that will pan out. we are looking at no real heat so that's the good news. 62 in santa cruz. the relative humidity is up and the air quality pretty good. 70 palo alto, 68 san mateo, san francisco it will take all day to get to the 62. breezy winds up in the north bay. with he have maybe an 80 up in lake port, but 70 for sonoma. 60s from oakland to berkeley. 69 fremont and a combination of low to mid-70s from san ramon

our picture outside. san francisco 52 degrees. we are looking at 52 in san jose with some sunshine. half moon bay in the low 50s. look at how socked we are north of the golden gate bridge. breezy winds. cool spot at santa rosa at 49. inland east bay is gray. low 50s. we will feature anywhere from 4 to 6 degrees ofcology today from the inland east bay where we had a few 80s. the sunshine is revealed by midmorning but look at the persistent onshore flow, keeping numbers in the 50s at the coast, 60s around the bay and cooler highs arrive tomorrow. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. in baltimore this morning today is being billed as a day of prayer and healing. it's in the wake of the violent demonstrations over the death of freddie gray. on saturday a peaceful protest billed as a victory rally and in front of city hall another is expected to take place there this afternoon.

that city is still under curfew until tomorrow morning. a few people out after 10:00 last night were arrested. freddie gray died from a severe spinal injury while in police custody. six officers have been charged in his death. they have a preliminary hearing next month. a new york city police officer who was shot in the head is now recovering from surgery. plain clothes officer brian moore is in stable condition. detectives say that last night he was trying to stop a man suspected of carrying a gun when the man turned and fired at least twice. the 35-year-old man has been arrested, but no gun has been recovered and blackwell has not been charged >> nepal's only international airport is closed to big jets this morning. the one runway is showing signs of deteriorating from the plane's weight. it has been a week since the 7.8

on that same fault line. the newest member of britain's royal family is home this morning but the princess still does not have a name. that means speculation and bets are running sky high. britain's legal bookmakers say the names charlotte and alice are the favorites. it's possible the name of the fourth in line to the throne will be announced today by the duke and duchess of cambridge, but there's no time table. the baby's grandparents, queen elizabeth and prince philip, may pop in today to see the newborn. a large and apparently mellow crowd marched in argentina for the legalization of homegrown marijuana for personal use. >> this is abc7 news. a san francisco woman got hit with a 400% rent increase. she's packing up and moving out. the landlord raised her rent to

$8,900 a month. she can't afford to pay that much while she fights the hike. "7 on your side" michael finney has her update. deb's home is understandably a mess. the may 5th deadline to move is just days away. leaving her home of ten years hurts. >> it's so painful. i mean, and i've had to uproot my life in a month. >> a move-out sale she held attracted a steady stream of people. until she finds a place to live, deb plans to couch surf and house sit. beyond that her future is murky. >> i don't know anymore. i can't afford to live here. a lot of my friends can't afford to live here and it's heartbreaking the way the city is changing. >> the home is registered as a single-family home and the landlord believes it's not covered by rent control laws. tenant attorney joel calls this eviction by rent increase. >> it's an easy way to get tenants out, increase the lunch.

-- or increase the rent. he plans to file a lawsuit on deb's behalf. he's charging the landlord with wrongful eviction. >> the landlord is intent in moving into deborah's unit and doesn't want to play the or pay the statutory required moving allowance. >> under san francisco rent control, lama would have been required to pay deb $5500 in relocation costs had she been evicted. but because deb is moving out on her own," lama doesn't have to pay. court documents signed last christmas revealed lama received $7500 from the family trust to pay attorneys fees to evict deb. this is deb's message to her landlord. >> realize that these are people's homes. negotiate. have integrity. compromise. come on! it makes me sad so that's all i can say. i'll miss it, but i don't have a choice. we reached out to the landlord's

by now some early adapters are seeing the apple watches being delivered and it won't be long before a few of the watches get broken in. so how much wear and tear can the new gadget take? abc 7's jonathan bloom found some enterprising reviewers putting it to the test. as customers ogle the apple watch in store windows, she is already boiling her. she made her video while trying to destroy the watch. >> so far so good. >> using mostly common and real world scenarios. >> the thing about watches, you will probably run into things with it more often

fog peeling back at about 1:00, 10:00 this morning to reveal another cool and breezy day in marin county. in fact even cooler. but the east bay valleys will cool another five degrees today. low 50s right now. cloudy there and cloudy here in emeryville. cloudy and cool for most. not everyone is cooler today, especially in the east bay valleys. a few 80s yesterday. those will most likely be erased and a cooler day still on monday. we recover a bit tuesday and wednesday and another system. more cool weather and maybe a few sprinkles come thursday and friday. by 9:00 we talked about the sunshine here. still cloudy throughout marin and pallet's of the san mateo coast. but then we are looking at temperatures right on line where they should be in the south bay. but everywhere else should be a little cooler than average. in fact that will being the trend for the week ahead. high pressure stays off the coast in an area of low pressure will be dropping down to the south. that will mix things up and mix out the marine layer and maybe
