double elimination. and for the shark, is it all a show-mance or real romance as hidden cameras catch an i love you offstage with robert and kym. both couples fly all night. to be here live only on "gma." and we do say good morning, america. we want to get right to the breaking news on the copilot who deliberately crashed the plane into the alps, killing everyone on board. >> his flight hours before the crash may have been a practice run for the deadly mission to come. david kerley starts us off. good morning, david. >> reporter: was it a practice run or did the copilot lose his nerve? on the first flight of the morning. he set the plane on controlled descent on the flight.

could this crash scene been in germany that day? the new report says on the first flight from dusseldorf to barcelona, the copilot was told to lower the plane. he spun the dial from 37,000 feet to 100 feet. he left it there for three seconds. minutes later, down to 100 feet before back up to a normal flight. >> this was clearly a dress rehearsal. >> on the return flight lubitz again sets the dial to 100 feet but this time he leaves it there until it crashes into the mountain killing all 150 onboard. the report from french authorities makes no conclusion as to whether this was a practice run on that earlier flight. but it raises the debate should pilots ever be alone in the cockpit?

george. >> now to the latest on the terror attack in texas. isis has claimed responsibility and we're learning about an american recruiter who may have helped inside the attack. brian ross has been investigating and is here. good morning, brian. >> reporter: good morning, robin. our investigation found a mysterious isis recruiter, an american fugitive from minneapolis, who goes by the name of miski may have played a crucial role. in the texas attack from his hideout overseas. he posted this picture of himself with a snake. he's been wanted by the fbi for the last six years. now he's emerged as one of the most significant figures in the effort by isis to use social media to recruit. young americans to its ranks. >> he's been pushing for violence for many months. for as long as we have been following him, he's been asking for individuals to commit violence. >> reporter: authorities say his real name is mohamed hassan. an fbi fugitive since 2009 when he left the twin cities to join terror groups in africa. messages obtained by abc news

between miski and the texas ring leader, elton simpson, show miski pointing to the texas cartoon contest and calling for an attack. it's time for brothers in the u.s. to do their part, he wrote. two days later, miski writes to simpson, one individual is able to put a whole nation on to its knees. >> very very effective. i call him a recruiter. i call him a a propagandist. an inciter. >> reporter: the day before the attack, this picture posted with a snake and his message was, may allah protect us from the snakes of the hereafter. simpson tweeted back, amen, bro. amen. officials say the fbi has been monitoring simpson and his social media messaging with miski and others. simpson was not under 24-hour surveillance and at the time deemed to be no real threat. according to people briefed on the case, robin. >> thank you, brian. to the severe weather slamming the south. tornadoes, flash floods. more dangerous weather in the forecast. rob marciano tracking it all.

>> good morning, george. 1 of 7 tornadoes that touched down in texas. this is big springs. this is up the road. this is what it looked like. amazing video. no major damage or injuries with this. certainly a sight to behold. moving very, very quickly off to the north and east. giving storm chasers a run for their money. the threat stretches up into the gut of tornado alley. northern texas. parts of oklahoma. into kansas. large hail damaging wind. a few isolated tornadoes. heavy rain. flooding last night outside norman, oklahoma. they had up to five inches of rain. cars having a difficult time getting through the water. these are not dry thunderstorms. we will see more in the way of rain today. two to three inches or more. as they roll through the area. also watching, robin, a disturbance off the coast of florida. could be something tropical. more about that in a few minutes. now to the trip to the park that almost turned tragic for two little boys. a big tree suddenly cracking. falling on them in a boston area

park injuring one of the boys seriously. the frightening incident caught on camera. tom llamas is in central park with more on that. good morning, tom. >> reporter: robin, good morning to you. that tree was massive. similar to this tree behind me. look how big it is. eyewitnesses say there was no warning. just a cracking sound. and the tree started to tumble. the only thing in its way, small children. it's the heart-stopping video that might make any parent think twice before sending their children to play outside. watch again. a giant horse chestnut tree crashing down on two young boys in the middle of the playground just outside of boston. some of the kids in the park barely get away. look closer. there are children directly under the tree when the trunk slams into the sand. within seconds, adults from all over the park race over to try to rescue the trapped children. pulling out 8-year-old diego ruiz. >> a tree fell on me and my head. >> reporter: and 2-year-old

david. >> his skull is cracked. a little bit cracked and part of his ear is not that good. thanks to god, he started speaking. >> reporter: the playground was recently renovated. the park officials closing down the park to inspect every tree. as this youtube video shows, when trees start to break, there's little time to run. while falling trees and branches in public parks are rare, they can be dangerous and deadly. an estimated 25 to 35 people die each year due to falling trees. usually in severe weather or right after. that's when trees are most vulnerable. like in this video after a heavy rain. mother nature is the one yelling timber. and this morning, it's still unclear exactly why that tree fell. some people say the roots looked rotten. others wonder if it was the harsh winter and record snowfall that hit the boston area. robin. >> many were wondering about that.

now, amy with the morning's other top stories. big news about drones. >> that's right. word of a major shift by the faa. it means we could be one step closer to receiving deliveries by drone. after much resistance, the faa is announcing a plan to study drone flights. that could beyond the sight of the operator. those flights are currently banned. amazon and google are hoping the faa reverses the ban to clear the way for automated drones to deliver the packages. a new york man has pled guilty to a federal charge of aiming a laser pointer at three commercial jets over laguardia. he could face two years in prison. a police officer in idaho is the latest to be gunned down in the line of duty. sergeant greg moore was shot in the head in a routine traffic stop. the suspect, an ex-con, then stole the officer's gun and the police car. his death is just two days after a new york city police officer died from his injuries he suffered in a shooting.

for the first time ever, regulators in drought-stricken california have imposed sweeping new restrictions on water use. they aim to slash water use by 25%. encouraging homeowners to let their lawns die. and by placing a limit on watering on public property. an unusual crash in california. an suv plowed into the front of this convenience store. watch the driver jump out, leap over the wreckage, and walk over to the refrigerator to grab some beer. he eventually took off in the truck. police arrested him just a short time later. ooh. and finally, a man snorkeling in the colorado river got the fright of his life. he was certain he had found evidence of a serious crime. he called 911, reporting human skeletons in the water. emergency responders raced to the scene. their attitude changed a bit when they saw the skeletons were sitting perfectly in lawn chairs

as well. you're not holding anything back this time. >> well, it's not that i'm going after anybody. i'm speaking the obvious. if a person has a job that the taxpayers are paying for, shouldn't that person do the job? if they're not going to do the job and show up for work do you get to get paid for not showing up for work? >> the senators should do one or the other? >> i think people have to choose. it's a matter of integrity to say, i don't want this job that i just got elected to. i think i want a different job. okay, then resign the job you have and go out there and seek the one you want. >> you ran for president in 2008. won iowa. >> thanks for reminding me. i remember how that turned out. >> you passed in 2012. why run now, not then? >> i think i'm better prepared. organizationally. i think i'm better prepared in terms of national recognition. and, in 2012, i really thought, george, it would be much more difficult to defeat a sitting

president than a lot of republicans thought. and i did not see that the republicans had geared up with the right message. and i thought that there was going to be the normal free-for-all with all the money going to the predicted candidates. it just wasn't the right time for me. >> you mentioned organization. last time around, you won iowa. shined in the debates. the rap on you was you couldn't raise money and you couldn't build a national organization. have you fixed that? >> i think we have. we have a national organization. we have a talented team of people running the campaign. we have people who have real experience behind them and -- in presidential campaigns. national campaigns. i think more than anything i go into this not as the unknown governor from arkansas that people had never heard of. that had to do something on the stage at the debate just to get attention. i was getting two minutes to the 15 minutes that mccain, romney, and giuliani were getting back in the early days of the campaign.

now people, i think, have a different perspective. they know me for what i have said. what i have talked about on television and radio and written in books. it's a different environment for me. than it was before. >> like bill clinton, you were born in hope, arkansas. that's where you announced yesterday night. you are selling a t-shirt. defeat the clinton machine. what do you know about challenging the clintons that others may not? >> as you well know, from having worked for them, the clintons know how to win. they play to win. they play hard. they answer every attack immediately and vociferously. they don't hold anything back. when i ran in arkansas, i ran against what had been built up as a clinton machine. they owned the politics of the state. >> they had gone to washington by that point. >> they had. but bill clinton was governor for 12 years. all of the people in state government, he had hired or appointed. i inherited this extraordinary challenge of a 90% democratic legislature.

the most lopsided in all of america. more that massachusetts, maine, vermont, california and oregon. and so i walked into that environment, but i was able to get things done because i learned how to govern in a difficult environment. >> thank you, governor huckabee. >> thank you, george. >> back to robin. major fallout from the big fight. manny pacquiao and his team hit with a lawsuit by boxing fans who say he hid a serious injury. they're seeking millions in damages. ryan smith has that story. >> reporter: this morning, some boxing fans looking to throw a knockout punch at manny pacquiao. >> there's the mayweather right hand. >> reporter: filing this more than $5 million class action lawsuit claiming he and his representatives cheated the public by hiding a shoulder injury. an injury he didn't reveal until after that unanimous decision loss to floyd mayweather jr. >> three weeks before the fight,

there's a tear in my right shoulder. >> reporter: the fight pulling in more than $430 million total. including $300 million from pay per view. now, the lawsuit alleges potentially hundreds of thousands of fans who paid to see the so-called fight of the century and bet good money on it were victimized by team pacquiao's failure to disclose and to cover up his injuries. >> from the fan perspective, given the money involved, given the money they spent, they at least wished they knew this going in. >> reporter: pacquiao's camp saying in a statement, the allegations are demonstrably false. >> as long as the fight goes on, it's hard to say that what they bought wasn't what they were promised. >> reporter: it's not just the fans that are angry. the nevada athletic commission has asked the state attorney general's office to investigate why pacquiao checked no on this prefight form asking if he had injuries to his shoulder.

noticed something unusual. >> the order comes through, she had edited her ticket. on the bottom, it said, hostage help. on the top, it said, get 911, help. >> reporter: check out the hidden messages. above the pizza it reads please help, get 911 to me. directly below the order, 911 hostage help. >> i've been with the company for 28 years. i have never seen something like that come through. >> reporter: the desperate messages from a mother held hostage, allegedly by this man, her boyfriend. just blocks away from the restaurant, held at knife point with her children. unable to use her phone. to make calls or texts. only thing she was allowed, use the pizza hut app to order a pie to feed her kids. that's when she took action, messaging her s.o.s. >> i don't think i would have ever thought of it. something she did so naturally. >> reporter: pizza hut became the pizza police. calling 911. giving the address of the order. the cops arriving at the home just in time to rescue the

special guest, anthony. rob? >> bradley and anthony. but four-time oscar nominee and now tony nominee bradley cooper is joining us this morning with his dear friend, anthony daniels. they have an important message to share about courage overcoming adversity. before we chat with the both of them, here's a look at anthony's story. just 23 years old, anthony daniels is battling hodgkin's lymphoma for the fourth time. >> each time i beat cancer, it puts more of a toll on my body. every time it comes back, it gets worse. >> reporter: a boxing enthusiast, anthony knows he needs to keep fighting. he's been looking for a donor for a year and a half. >> i'm not going to let my cancer take away from this great moment that i have right now. because then, that's when cancer wins. >> reporter: now there's someone special in his corner. bradley cooper helping to raise awareness and find a match. and it's wonderful to have anthony and bradley here. >> thank you for having us.

>> are you kidding me? anthony, bless your heart. i know your family is here with you. bradley, you reached out to us, at first. it just -- it warmed our heart to know that you wanted to do something like this. how did you meet? >> i was approached by delete blood cancer. they said there's a young man at fordham university, who is dealing with blood cancer, hodgkin's lymphoma. is there anything you could do? take a video. do a photograph. i'm not on social media. i said, can we meet? let's meet and talk. i sat down. met his brother, too. an incredible guy. what he's gone through. i was completely ignorant about the process. the fact that he could have a 50% chance of survival if he just finds a donor. i thought, i know you, a little bit. and i know that you're familiar with this. and my father had non-hodgkin's lymphoma. he died of lung cancer four years ago. and i just thought, this is a great platform to raise awareness. >> it is. i thought i knew a lot. i didn't.

it's about educating people. what was it like, he's your corner man. he's in the corner with you. that's got to be just a -- >> i'm so taken back by everything. i'm so lucky to have had the opportunity to just meet him. let alone to be here with you and him at the same time to talk about what i'm going through and thousands of other people are going through. it's like a dream, honestly. >> it's important, anthony and bradley, for people to understand. i know you got your two brothers and your beautiful mom that are there. family members are tested. as my family members were tested. people think, if you have relatives, it's going to be an automatic. that they're going to be a match. that only happens 30% of the time. so 70% of the time, you need somebody from the registry. that's what you're trying to do. get people more involved on the registry? >> yes. that's what we have been trying to do. about a year and half ago, i thought because i had two brothers that, not really knowing the process, i would get a perfect match or a closer match. they ended up being perfect matches for each other.

not myself. the whole process has been, it's really easy how to do everything. but even when i was sick for 2 1/2 years before i knew i needed another transplant, i really didn't know the process. how easy it was. how desperate people like me need them. without it, we're not going to survive. >> and the transplant can lead to a possible cure for 70 conditions including yours. you want to show your man how to do it? show bradley. if someone reaches your organization, delete -- >> take the swabs out. >> as simple as swabbing the cheek. >> yep, take each swab out and put it against your right and left cheek separately for 20 seconds to make sure you get all the cells. and then put it back in. >> take it out that. >> put it in the right side. swab it for 20 seconds. just like that. >> and, there's your team. i love that #anthony'sfight. you have this team around. so you do both cheeks like that. just put it back in.

and what would he do, anthony? >> he would send it back in. he would get a card. thing that's inside there. saying you're a registered donor. in four to six weeks you find out if you're somebody's match. >> you don't pay for the postage. your postage is paid. you send it in. and then you wait to see if you would possibly be a -- be a match. >> i think it's in there you'll receive this card saying you'll be a registered donor once you're done. >> pretty simple. >> it's amazing. >> right then, you just tested to be -- >> it does have to be 20 seconds on each -- >> exactly. for tv purposes. you know that as an actor. >> not exciting tv. >> hey, it is exciting tv. >> but 20 seconds. >> 20 seconds like that. and people should know, when they, if they do get the call, hopefully, they will. they should make that decision, talk to their doctors, understand the process. my sister, thank the good lord, was a perfect match. and she's the biggest nellie. she had no discomfort.

some of this year's 15,000 participants. including some of the toughest mothers in america. like the iron girl. she's run five marathons and hasn't trained for any of them. there's the power lifter. at 114 pounds, this mom can dead-lift nearly twice her body weight. and then there's the couch potato turned fitness fanatic. she loves the kitchen. put her in a race, she can really get cooking. and the seventh grade teacher. she works out. can she keep up with the rest? as for me, my whole life i was competing for super bowl trophies. this now becomes my holy grail. let's do this. that headband is what all those who complete the challenge will receive. i got to try it on. they wouldn't let me keep it because it's sacred. it's very, very special. other tough mothers out there in new jersey gearing up for the race. if you're a tough mother, raise your hand. okay, now drop and give us 20. >> let's go, girls.
