nightmare. we talked to several bart riders. they were so frustrated at the situation. there were a number of issues. the big issue was a broken piece of track between 16th street and civic center plaza. those are in san francisco. people tried to catch rides on buses but there were long lines and a lot of confusion much the break cause the bart to single track through san francisco through the day. on top of that, there was a power outage in the east bay at 2:30 in the afternoon. between the bay and castro valley station and then the giants had a day game. mix it together and it was a nightmare. riders could be feeling a little nervous today to chime back -- back on bart but repairs have been made and should be normal. thanks, amy. that is today. get ready for a rough weekend

commute. the san mateo bridge will close for maintenance starting tonight name at 10:00 until monday morning at 5:00 a.m. this is a look at the bridge right now and crews will resurface and treating the deck structure. a similar closure happens over memorial day weekend. >> san jose police are asking for the public's help to identify asexual predator who has struck twice. this is surveillance video from the latest attack on tuesday. it was at a home in west san jose. a man followed a 13-year-old girl home from school. he pushed his way into her home. he tried to sexually assault her. the girl fought back. the man left. it was all captured on the home surveillance video system. he was gone when police arrived. investigator say the same man attacked a woman at a market on saratoga avenue last month. he follow add 28-year-old woman into the restroom and tried to sensually assault her. she fought back. matt keller will have a report

with more next half hour. >> police are depending on social media to fine the suspect before there is another attack. we have photos of the man on our facebook page. >> happening today, one of the men who brutally beat bryan stow is back in the news and back in court. he said he is sorry for the attack and that may affect his sentencing in another case. our reporter is in the newsroom. >> sanchez finally is saying he is story four years after the attack that left bryan stow severely brain damaged. in a handwritten letter to a federal judge he writes and i quote, "unfortunately mr. bryan stow got hurt and i send my deepest sympathy to him and his family. this was an accident. i pray the court to show mercy." he is scheduled to be sentenced for unrelated weapons charge today. he faces up to 10 years in prison for being a felon in

possession of firearms. he is serving eight for attacking brain zoe in the parking lot of dodger stadium in 2011. prosecutors have brought up the assault. sanchez wrote the letter asking for a lighter sentence. bryan stow is making progress. last in he threw out the first pitch at the minor league opening game. >> a miracle. i am a living miracle. i am making the most of it. >> it was a very emotional moment as he was able to get out of his wheelchair and walk on to the field. he has severe brain damage and will need lifelong care. >> the other attacker faces identical chances in two weeks wine festival organizers in the east bay are looking to crackdown on drinking and

driving following a crash over the weekend that killed a mother and her 14-month-old baby. police say the suspected drunk driver 35-year-old brian jones was drinking at the livermore wine festival before hitting and killing esperanza morales and her daughter, with his car. officials are working with festival organizers to ensure controls are in place to avoid a similar tragedy in the future. >> happening today the university of california will host a national summit addressing undocumented students. the conference will be discussing the needs and challenges that undocumented students face in higher education and beyond. it aims to develop policy and legal recommendations to address systematic barriers and help identify strategies for ongoing support for the constitutes. the conference runs today and tomorrow at the oakland marriott city center hotel. >> a study by the university of california finds the number of low wage workers in california is growing. 4.million workers earn less than

40s to mid-50s. here is the low and year it started to make a little bit of a southern turn and now it is turning to the southeast and bringing the unstable air mass to us. the activity this morning is rotating away from us and by noon you can see east and south bay get active and with the counter-clockwise flow we are on the back side of this they will move northeast to southwest so during the evening commute look for inland east bay is south bay and the santa cruz mountains have the best chance of showers they fall apart overnight and wake up cloudy tomorrow and with the sunshine and a last push of energy we will include the north bay in the better chance of scattered showers tomorrow. here is my seven-day forecast the steady influence of the next 72 hours is the temperatures which will not change much. warmer for mother's day and cooler weather next week. the real action is today and a lesser extent tomorrow.

the bay bridge toll plaza starting to load up. >> we have a pair of frightening crimes in the south bay, police say a brutal sexual predator has already struck twice and they need your help to catch him. matt keller is in san jose with more on the story. matt? >> yes, i spoke with san jose police this morning. they say this man is wanted for two attempted sexual assaults is still loose. this surveillance video from the latest attempt that happened on tuesday at a home in west san jose. a man followed a 13-year-old girl from school. he forced his way into her home he tried to sexually assault her. it was caught on the home surveillance video system. she fought him off. he fled before police arrived. schools are alerting parents. he is not concerned about being caught because the attacks took place in broad daylight. >> he has the confidence to do it once the confidence to do it

yesterday. crews discovered a broken 10" section of rail during the morning commute in san francisco. even as repairs were going onings bart closed three stations because of a power outage in the east bay. things were politicked by late afternoon and the delays lingered. >> if time on bart. >> delays coming here. delays coming out. bar was real fun today. >> crews did repair work overnight. vacaville police are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian. investigators say an elderly woman was hit by a car at 9:30 last night. she tried to cross alamo drive and then was hit by another vehicle. she died at the scene. she was not in a marked crosswalk. both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated. officers say it does not appear drugs or alcohol were factors.

everyone around here is puzzled. >> the f.b.i. and veterans administration are investigating what he committed fraud using his i.d. as a war hero. >> a san jose man seeing getting arrested by police faces drug and assault charges. this video was taken by a bistander on the corner of white and story road showing juan lopez pinned to the ground and punched by several officers after attacking officers where a bottle. he fought officers when they tried to arrest him. in court the prosecutors added a charge of assaulting an officer when a deadly weapon. lopez was charged with drug possession and resisting arrest. his mother said her son suffers from mental problems. he is expected back if court next week. >> the threat of severe weather is expected to last through the weekend in the heartland. 50 tornadoes were reported the past 24 hours in texas, oklahoma kansas and nebraska. dozens of homes have been
