and three-year-old daughter say they were stuck in the mud. their truck was stuck in the sierra nevada they were supposed to return home on tuesday. when they did not, crews headed tout look for them. he said that he is so grateful to all of the people who were looking for him. family and friends say they are just so happy to have him home. >> we are so excited they are here. it is...what a relief. what a relief. >> we are so grateful. grateful to everyone who looked for us. i am so sorry that i caused any worry. >> here is a video that he took of his daughter being lifted into the helicopter to safety. he said they did everything they could for about 50 hours to get the attention of rescuers. they could see them but rescuer could not sigh the family. they finally found them and brought them to safety. the kids are fine.

they have a few bug bites. they are alive. full of relief. the reunion was something special. next up is the reunion with knick and his co-workers. he owns a barber shop in downtown alameda so it will be fun to see them reunite. we talked with his colleagues at the barber shop yesterday. his friends say that he is an experienced outdoorsman who knows the back country very well. they also say he takesly young children camping regularly and they had no doubt he and the kids would be found. >> i think he is fine. i think he is keeping the kids reoccupied and keeping good attitude. >> the vehicle is well fitted for off-roading and i know they have food and water. i am confident everything is fine. it is a matter of time before he is found. >> the kids appeared well period

and happy when they were found last night. >> happening now a neighborhood in downtown san jose remains evacuated at least for now because of a stand off between police and an armed man that began yesterday evening. abc reporter matt keller is the at 13th and washington. this is a change in situation. what is happening now? >> the stand off ended in the past 20 minutes. police everyone able to arrest the man inside his home at 12th. the swat team is here. we have not seen the man brought out. an ambulance was property in. we saw a man sleeping in his car outside of the perimeter because he could not get through to his house because of police activity. no hostages were involved. nearly homes were evacuated. this started at 6:30 last night when a woman called police report she was in an argument with the respect and pointed a loaded gun at her. the police confirm they were negotiating with an armed drunk man inside a home at 12th near

downtown and arrested him arrest 4:00 this morning. the ambulance is here and there is no word on condition of the suspect. we expect the scene could be cleared out in the next half hour or so as they still need to bring out the man from the home and make sure he is in the ambulance and brought to the hospital as they check him out. here the scene should be cleared hopefully shortly. thanks. 4:33. investigators in san jose want to know if two large fires might be linked to each other. huge flames rose from the latest first that broke out in a warehouse along north 5th street near the us 101 interchange last night. no one was hurt. it took crews almost an hour to put the fire out. >> a few hours earlier a fire started at a welding school a short distance arm on commercial street. firefighters faced several dangerous challenges, with tanks holding welding gases erupting into flames on the side of the building at the lloyd

pipe trade training center. students got outside. no one was hurt. >> in sonoma county a historic building is damaged after a fire broke out last night on main street. investigators say it started in the backside of the 133-year-old building and worked into the attic above the market. crews cut holes in the roof to full any extinguish the smellerring fire. it displaced three small businesses but everyone got out safely. the building dates back to 1882. there is in word on when the businesses will re-open. >> this morning, rohnert park police are asking help to find a hand and his two daughters. the 40-year-old has been acting hostile and could be trying to hide the girls from their mother. he got an emergency custody order on tuesday and picked up his daughters 11 and nine-year-old from an after school program. their per, his, wife had a restraining order against him through a different court. by the time she got the

>> cover santa rosa, berkeley, san jose, and all the bay area this is abc7 news. 4:42. you are looking at temperatures from valley view, texas aerials of a freight train derailment. you can see all of the cars stack up like tinker toys. this is reported to be a 17-car derailment. we do not know what these train cars may be carrying. we do know that this happened about an hour north of dallas and that is where valley view is. we will give an eye on this. >> more information that the tracks may have been washed away by 6" of rain and flash flooding. we will continue to watch that situation. >> happening today activists land to rally outside san francisco city hall to call for a moratorium on new luxury

because of smoke. the flight took off from fort lauderdale en route to knock but during the flight smoke filled the cabin forcing pilot to make an emergency landing in charleston, south carolina. if a statement, delta blamed the smoke on an engine problem. northbound traffic is no problems. in the south bay we see nothing but top speed and all the construction has wrapped up for the south bay for now at 63 miles per hour pulling in toward san jose. also, the drive along we we will coming up to the airport, you are clear, and highway 8 a no problems. dumbarton big is nice commute at 64 miles per hour coming in from newark into east palo alto. as you travel up to the east bay through castro valley along 580 60 along 80 so a clear drive. walnut creek to dublin is 14 minutes. southbound 101 santa rosa to san francisco is 52 minutes. highway 17, to los gatos is 24 minutes. as i have been telling you, the san mateo bridge shuts down tomorrow. smooth sailing right new. carrying 95,000 commuter as day between hayward and it gets repairs.
