plaza. again, packed. it's been this way all weekend. our reporter is live in san francisco with a look at the work ask the traffic headache it's caused. >> reporter: add the giants game on top of that and traffic can get pretty bad. traffic has been backed up as people try to head out of the city and on to the bay bridge. giants fans say they anticipated the heavy traffic today and so they took public transportation to get here and to get out. here's a look at what is going on over at the san mateo bridge that has been clogging bay area roadways two crews are resurfacing the deck structure eastbound and westbound. crews are doing routine maintenance that will prolong the life of the bridge build in the late 19600s. after this the bedroom won't need a facelift for another 50 years. >> it would be an inconvenience but more inconvenience with just lane closures that would take a long time, cause a lot of

traffic congestion so by closing it for the two weekends getting everything done, that really is the better way in the long run to do things. >> reporter: caltrans says they're on schedule for the bridge to open 5:00 a.m. tomorrow and then they close the bridge on memorial day weekend and caltrans is asking drivers to take alternate routes to get to your destination. >> three small wildfires broke out across the bay area today. in san francisco, cal fire crews are mopping up after a three-alarm fire burned 12 acres on san bruno mountain. the fire started just at 3:00 p.m. near dolores way and hillside boulevard. fog preevented cal fire from making water drops. the cause is unknown? west marin a fire burned three and a half ache north america a eucalyptus grove. the fire broke out in a remote

area and spread to within 100 feet of the shoreline. no structures were damaged and no one was hurt. official says the fire appears to be human caused and it is under investigation. and in hayward brush fire this morning burned half an acre on grove way knee foothill boulevard. the cause is unknown. water customers in the east bay may notice tap water tasting a little different this week as east bay mud adapts to the drought. 1.3 million people are serviced by the water district. they got a sample of the new water this march but was switched off after a flood of complaints. cornell bernard is live with more. >> reporter: that new water supply is on its way from the sierra right now. should make it to east bay customers by mid-week. right now water coming oust the fountain at doyle park tastes -- pretty good. but that could change.

east bay mud first changed the water supply to 1 minute customers in march and got a ton of bad reviews. >> oh would youow describe the smell. >> rotten egg smell. >> now the water agency will try it again this time slowly making the transition. with little snow melt they have no choice but to start pumping warmer water to save colder water below for fish riz downstream. warmer water has more algae often smelly but safe to drink. >> this is not preferable to have other difference in taste and smell but the alternative is not having enough water next year. >> brittani at berkeley ace hard wear remembers the smelly water in march. >> take all that stuff out of there, her to clone. >> filters cost ben $15 and $40.

>> fine. >> susan says berkeley kill take her tap water any way she can. she hopes people will skip the filter and smell the drought. >> having a really tangible reminder every time you turn on the tap we are the a bad drought can be helpful. >> a smelly reminder to save water. >> water conservationists are happy starbucks will stop bottling california water and enough they want necessary -- necessary lee to do the same. most of the water comes from the small community of baxter pumpedded out of underground spring. but a of the drought starbucks started purchasing water from california. activists say every water bottling plant in the state should be closed and everybody should be drinking from the tap. >> no water bottling company should be taking water out of our aqua fers at this time.

one day the best bargain for traveling within california could be by train. "the los angeles times" estimates the average cost to ride the new high-speed train from los angeles to san francisco will be $86. at 20-cents a mile it's one of the cheapest high-speed rail trip tuesday the world. china's train from beijing to shanghai costs 22 cents a mile. the italian train is 25-cents a mile 46 from handin germany and traveling from paris to france averages 52-cents a mile. california's bullet train broke ground in fresno in january. state officials expect it will be up and rung by 2028. if you want one of tesla's new batteries and didn't order one you're out of luck for a year and a half. ceo elon musk says the power wall is sold out through the

on this mother's day, some bay area moms were treated like queens. we were at the hamilton family center in san francisco where 25 homeless mothers received makeovers. professional stylist volunteered to do their hair and makeup and then the women and families had a nice brunch with french toast eggs and saw a law performance of sunday's a drag. a lot of love for each mom. >> it's awesome.
