happen today. an open bridge. it happened ahead of schedule. they were planning to open at 5:00 this morning and you can see it is open westbound lanes opened at 3:50 and eastbound behind the westbound lanes but not too much. they opened at there will not be problems this morning but the weekend was jammed. last night still jammed up and backed up at 11 o'clock with the bridge closing at 10:00 on friday night and created problems all weekend. long, long delays. we saw them on the bay bridge and other at routes with a joints game. >> crews resurfaced a bridge and applied a protective coat. the work went well with no problems. they did not get egg finished in

extra 150 seats and increased standing room. the 16 used rail cars were purchased and four were put in service immediately. they are being added to the busy schedules. in have been four years of consecutive monthly ridership averaging 61,000 weekday rider during the heist season. for southbound trains in santa clara riders near the locomotive have to walk to next car to exit the train. of course, for many passengers this is just a bump in the road. they will be happy to get extra breathing room if their commute to and from work this morning and from here on out. >> officials in the east bay today will close two fire stations permanently although this could be a bad fire season. this station in the community will close along with another in

brentwood. the fire protection district does not have the money to keep them going. now, just 27 firemen at three stations are responsible for a 249 square mile area. voters turned down an effort to raise money through a general assessment tax. >> bad news after three wildfires erupted in the bay area yesterday. 90 firefighters sent to battle a 12 acre blaze in south san francisco. in hayward a brushfire burned half an acre near foothill boulevard and in marin county four acres burned in a grove 100' of the sure line. firefighters say while the weather was in their favor the conditions on the ground were not. >> the fire was driven by the heavy logs and branches in the field. they were not exposed to moisture over the winter so they are drying and they produce a lost intensity. >> firefighters believe it is a sign of things to come and they

anticipate a busy fire season. >> investigators will be back to the scene of a fire that spread to two homes with the call after 2:00 a.m. yesterday on south 2nd street near interstate 280. a home was in flames and the fire coming from the attic of the neighboring husband. first crews called for additional help. eight people in the homes got out. the red cross is helping them out. >> a 74-year-old woman is recovering after a fall on mount diabolo. the c.h.p. shared video showing the helicopter pulling her 50 of the rugged area yesterday afternoon. an officer first came down to give her first aid and then got her on a gurney. the 74-year-old victim went to the hospital with a leg injury, three officers helping in the rescue. >> in arkansas a possible tornado killed two at a mobile home park a baby inside one of the homes though survived. and in texas rescuers are searching for survivors of a

tornado that roar through a small town. it rip into the city of vann southeast of dallas-ft. worth injuring two dozen and destroying hopes. texas has been hit hard including a severe weather system that blasted the midwest and the plains. one south dakota town was ever van witnessed because of a tornado and another part of state was hit with more than 2' of snow. >> look at this video from lake city iowa, a man taking pictures of a tornado caught the roof of a high school being blown away. the mayor said there were people inside the school attending an awards ceremony but everyone was evacuated when the tornado sirens sounded. there were no reports of injuries but classes are canceled at the high school. dramatic video from texas a pregnant woman holding a neighbor's baby was airlift frommed home after a creek overflowed after heavy rain. the national guard flew to another house and airlifted the grandmother to safety. 6' deep water forced many
