quite a contrast to what we saw over the weekend and late last night there were traffic issues, and backups around the bay area because the bridge was closed. they shut it down at 10:00 on friday night, and officials say they realized traffic was heavy but they did not think it was dreadful. they thought it looked like some people did make plans around it. the alternative routes were jammed like the bay bridge and getting around was challenging. >> not looking forward to passing the bay bridge and i know this is traffic all the way home. >> workers are resurfacing the bridge and they say that the work went well and he say they are not surprised they even got it open early they were expecting to open at 5:00 but they got it open around 4:00. they say they worked hard. they did not have snags or glitches and finished early and got it re-opened.

nicco. >> we are going to start by taking a look at seven-day forecast with the showers. we are also going to see a lot of sunshine before the showers materialize. here is a look at the exploritorium camera looking at the bay bridge. as we head to the afternoon hours we are going to trade the late-arriving low clouds inland with high clouds at 67 in the north bay and 76 in the east bay and the coast and san francisco will get sunshine and it will take later in the day and it will be accompanied by a breeze. we will be rid of the low clouds and bring if high clouds with theys around 61 to 68 degrees. deeper in the forecast, as we look at walnut creek this morning, we are going to see temperatures remain well below average and wednesday into thursday there is the possibility of a sure.

gulen. we have good news for the peninsula drivers but first, the wet photograph with meteorologist mike nicco. >> we start with live doppler hd and showing clouds along the cost and they are spill across our neighborhoods because of another day of a stiff sea breeze keeping our temperatures below average. we go mostly cloudy through the morning with temperatures ranging from the low 40s in rohnert park to the mid-50s in san francisco and we will see increasing sunshine by noon and 54 at the coast and upper 50s to mid-60s around the bay and the coast will stay in the 50s and most us in the 50s by the evening. it will be chilly this evening >> you have news that commuters will like? >> we have the san mateo bridge in mission and it looks like the travelers are flowing smoothly between hayward and foster city. that is a look at all lanes re-opening along the span and caltrain is working really really hard right now to shut off the signs that are still saying the bridge is closed so

ignore the signs. do not pay attention to the signs. a crash in san jose in the south bay with all days coming up. >> you can be sure that a last drivers are happy to hear that the bridge is open this morning. this is a look of the toll plaza doll and we want do let you know the san mateo bridge is now open but what you are looking at yesterday a lot of traffic on the alternate routes that leyla was talking about, including the bay bridge toll plaza and city streets leading up to the alternate route the bay bridge was jammed and mother's day and the giants day game led to huge backups on i-80 and city streets taking two hours to get where you wanted to go. the san mateo bridge is closed again on memorial day but this morning, good news if your commute involves caltrain. there will be more trains available at rush hour on some trains. we are in san jose with that

erupted in the bay area yesterday and 90 firefighters were sent to the bowl a blaze on san bruno mount detain in south san francisco and in hayward a brushfire burned half an acre near foothill boulevard and in marin county four acres burned in a grove 100' of the shoreline. the weather was in their favor the conditions on the ground were not. this was driven by logs and branches that were not exposed to much miscellaneous so they are dry earlier producing a lot of intensity. >> they believe it is a sign of things to come and anticipate a busy fire season. >> investigators are spented to be back at scene of a fire that spread to two homes. this was near interstate 280. one home was in flame and fire coming from the attic of the neighboring house.

the first crews called for additional help and eight people in the home got out. the red cross is helping them out. >> a 74-year-old woman is recovering after a fall on mount diabolo. c.h.p. shared this video showing the helicopter hoisted her off a remote area on the east side of the summit yesterday afternoon. an officer first came to give her first aid and get her into a gurney. the 74-year-old victim went to the hospital with a leg injury. three officers helped in the rescue. a possible tornado killed two at a mobile he park and a baby in a home survived. in texas rescuers are searching for survivors of a tornado that roared through a small town last night the storm ripped into the city southeast of dallas-ft. worth injures two dozen people and destroying homes. severe weather blasted the midwest and the flamed and one south dakota town was evacuated because of a tornado and another part of the state was hit with

2' snow. >> look at this video, a man take pictures after tornado caught the roof of a high school being blown away. the mayor said that there were people inside the school attending an awards ceremony but everyone was evacuated when the tornado sirens began sounding. there were no reports of injuries. classes are canceled at the high school today. >> more dramatic video from texas, a pregnant woman holding a neighbor's baby was airlifted from her home after the creek overflowed because of heavy rain. the national guard flew to another house and air lifted the woman's grandmother to safety. 6' deep water forced many rescues. homes and carped were damaged. >> four suspects appear in court after the murders of two police officers in mississippi. community members, clergy and the officerscore workers gathered in harrisburg. another memorial service is

today. both died after a shoot out during a traffic stop saturday evening. one of the fallen officers had just graduated from the police academy last summer. two of the suspects face murder charges. the other two are charged with lesser crimes. >> two thieves slammed a vehicle into a drug storm on view boulevard before 5:00 a.m. at the c cvs. they did not hit the pharmacy but may have been after the a.t.m. >> close to the bring for the warriors as they try to bounce back in memphis after two lay off losses in a row. golden state now trails the grizzlies 2-1 in the best of seven western conference semi finals and the warriors spent the day watching video of saturday's 99-89 loss in memphis trying to come up with answers.
