jam trying to get through the peninsula and the east bay and 14 minutes in the westbound direction from hayward to foster city and we are still trying to check with caltrain because we were told that lights and signs purpose up around the bay area saying the bridge was closed but it is not. i promise. >> really out for traffic on the san mateo bridge was smooth. the span re-opened after 4:00 this morning and is shut down for maintenance all weekend. it opened an hour early. could you see a sign that said it is closed because the portable signs have to be manually turned off and they of out there another half hour until they are all fund off. if you see a sign that says san mateo bridge is closed, that is wrong, ignore it.

you can see behind me the bridge is open. and doing just fine. a far cry in what we saw over the weekend. look at this video. a backup. if you were in it you do not have to look at the video you experienced it. driver had a lost heartache to deal with and there were significant delays with heavy traffic on the bay bridge all weekend and other alternate routes and closed the bridge on friday night to do resurfacing work and it was the first closure in five decades, officials this morning, looking back at how the weekend went and say they give it a gold car. >> everything englished -- accomplished we wanted to get done. we were very closed the extra, was not heavy. we got the word out and everyone knew of closure and there were no major snags or glitches. >> the work is costing $9

people. the fire broke out overnight and officers patrolling that part of the city spotted the fire. they breakdown a back door and ran in without protective gears. they pulled out three adults and two children and one was in a wheelchair. all five and one officer were taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. >> east bay water customers will notice smelly tap water tomorrow with so little snow melt this year it is forcing the it agency to use warmer water from the tonight reservoir in the sierra which has been exposed to more sunlight and has a strong odor like rotedden eggs. you can get rid of of smell by using a carbon filter. >> and the warriors are now traying 2-1 to the surprise of many fans. we are in the newsroom with more on the important game four. >> players say this is

california oakland at 73 and low-to-mid 60 we and berkeley at 61 to castro stream and union city at fremont at 64 and up the valley we will keep you in the upper 60 to low-to-mid 70s. tonight, it will be cooler add mid-40s to upper 40s with low 40s possible inland valleys. the area of low pressure will come through in two parts: thursday friday and lesser extent on saturday i have a chance of showers in the forecast and the best chance of measurable rain is thursday. notice the temperatures are well below average even with the dry weekend developing by sunday. we are using mobile 360 up to the san mateo bridge and i will get out of the way so you can see on to the bridge the caltran handiwork, a first look at the repaving project they did over the weekend.

it looks like it is smooth sailing. they are not continue. if you see funny looking mark us on the roadway it is because we have another closure taking place over memorial day weekend. the work is not done yet. skit good enough so we can use it between hayward and foster city the next couple of weeks. you can see the traffic in the westbound direction is the drive into foster city with no problems. over to the maps, i will show you the richmond-san rafael pretty clear nice commute up to the tolls and we do have one accident though still in affect blocking the lanes and you can see how it is causing delays northbound 101 with delays into morgan hill. >> 40,000 drivers are hit with toll violations on bay area bridges each month. drivers say many of them are bogus and now an inside source at fast track tells "7 on your side" why you cannot get the mistakes corrected.

45 minutes ago and one of the cars is different because caltrain added an extra car to all trains currently in operation. so there are 12 extra cars for 12 trains giving passengers 150 more seats and increase standing room for a train. the used rail cars were purchased this year with four put in service immediately and the others required more repair work. passengers are grateful for any other work -- room they can get. >> at 4:00 or 5:00 these are full. >> are you excited this we have another 150 more seats on the cars to spread people out? >> more space to myself. do not have to sit next to anyone you don't know. >> the system has been stretched thin with more years of mildership increases and averaging 61,000 weekday riders during the season. the extra car will cause issues

blaze on san bruno mountain in south san francisco. in hayward, a brushfire burned half an acre near foothill boulevard and the four acres burned in a grief in marin 100' of the shore line. the weather was if their favor but the conditions were not in their favor. >> this was driven by the heavy down field such as logs and branches and they were not exposed to much moisture over the winter so we see them dry much earlier and they produce a lot of intensity. >> firefighters believe it is a sign of things to come and they anticipate a very busy fire season. >> investigators are expected back at the scene of a fire that spread to two hopes. firefighters got the call after 2:00 yesterday on socked 2nd near interstate 280 we seeing one home in flame and fire great a neighboring house. the first crews called for additional help and eight people in the home got out okay and the red cross is helping them out.

>> a 74-year-old woman is recovering after a fall on mt. diablo. she is seen being hoisted off a rigged area on the east side of the summit. the officer came down to give first aid. he load her into the rescue basket. the 74-year-old victim want to the hospital with a leg injury. three officers helped in the rescue. >> in arkansas a possible tornado killed two people at a mobile home park, a baby inside one of the homes survivorred. in texas, rescuers are searching for survivors after tornado that roared through a small town. these are new pictures from the city and last night the storm ripped into the city southeast of dallas injuring two dozen people we and destroying homes. severe weather blasted the midwest and the plains and a south dakota town was evacuated because of a tornado and another part of state was hit with 2' of snow. >> this video from iowa show add

man taking pictures of a tornado caught the roof of a high school being blown away. the city mayor said there were people inside the school attending an awards ceremony and everyone was evacuated when the tornado sirens me began sounding with no reports of injuries and classes are canceled at the high school today. >> convicted boston marathon bombing defendant tarta will be sentenced today. the jury will decide if he should be put to death or spend the rest of his life in prison. dzhakhar tsarnaev was convictions of 30 charges in the bombing that killed three people and wounded more than 260. bicycling fans the tour of san francisco will kickoff day two dead in a few hours traveling in nevada city with the bicycle ride through the state starting sunday morning in sacramento and tens of thousands

>> wreck back at 6:45, the san mateo bridge could be open for business but a slight hiccup could be causing some confusion for drivers this morning. our reporter is at the toll plaza. amy? >> yes eric, that is because the portable signs have still been reading that bridge is closed although it is clearly open. that is because there are 31 of the signs and they have to man wheel be turned off, one by one. they have been out work on that and the bridge opens early so that did not help them. it helped the commuters but it caused confusion so the bridge opened at 4:00 and they should be wrapping up turning off of

the signs right now. the bridge is doing fine and commuters have no issues to deal with and that is quite a contrast from over the weekend. it was tough to move around and the alternate routes like the bay bridge were all jammed and they closed bridge on friday at 10:00 to do some resurfacing work and officials say they felt like traffic was slow but not catastrophic. they feel like they got the word out and people made plans. they will close it again in a couple of weekends, memorial day weekend, a three day closure to get all of work done and they will be sitting down to assess how this weekend went and if they learned anything from it to see if they could apply the lessons to the memorial day week but overall they got their work done, no glitches and traffic moved somewhat okay. new this morning, one of the
