lucky for this guy this swiss cheese doubles as a fire blanket. new sriracha spicy super chick'n. denny's. welcome to america's diner. abc7 news begins with breaking news. a tragic story this morning. sky 7 is over the scene where a child was hit and killed by a muni light rail train in san francisco. >> thanks for joining us. i am kristen sze. >> i am cheryl jennings. >> amy hollyfield joins us on the field. >> there was a near-miss before he was hit. he was running across san jose avenue in the crosswalk but running so he caught to cars overs guard who had to slam on their brakes as he stumbled out of that situation he landed in front of train. >> according toen withs the 11-year-old boy was running across the street at 8:30 this

morning trying to catch this muni train when he was hit and killed by the train. >> he avoided the s.u.v. and ran across the street and the train could not stop. it is horrible. >> the boy was running across san jose avenue. there were two cars coming down the street. those drivers had to make sudden stops to avoid the boy. >> boy made a pivot move off of the secondary vehicle. as a result, he planned in the street on northbound san jose avenue where the l.r.v. was traveling and struck the boy. >> workers in the corner boy heard his mother's scream and a man saw her desperate attempt to save him. >> she was trying to move the train actually. pulling him out from under the train because she saw him moving. >> the father was here and witnesses say seeing their raw grief was heartbreaking. >> completely hysterical and

still in the back of the ambulance. >> a terrible incident. words are hard to describe when an 11-year-old loses their life like this. >> this intersection of san jose avenue and lake view has always made them nervous. many people have been asking for a stoplight or a stop sign. >> you see this train coming this way they hit the brakes hard to come to a fast stop. all the time. there should be a stop sign for vehicle and the trains. it is dangerous. >> the city officials say they are looking into the concerns. here at the scene they still need to recover the body. emergency crews are struggling emotionally with this situation. they do have counselors at the scene to help the crews and also the family. >> another tragedy now in knee patch where another deadly

earthquake struck. the 7.3 magnitude earthquake hit northwest of the capital city of katmandu near the chinese border. shaking was felt throughout nepal and tibet and followed by after shocks the largest at magnitude earthquake 6.3. at least 42 people died. more than a thousand others have been injured. we are the only bay area tv station with a reporter in nepal when the latest earthquake struck. we have that story from the newsroom and the bay area man who is injured. >> a sunnyvale man is being treated now after being treated. teams are digging through debris searching for survivors. >> crowds screamed and rushed to safety as the powerful earthquake jolts nepal hitting at 1:00 o'clock p.m. local time after midnight here.

sergio quintana is in katmandu and ran from the hotel without the shoes and watched as panicked residents poured into the streets. >> throughs of people streamed out, terrified that the buildings would collapse on them. a lot of people immediately closed the shops and went home. >> sergio tweeted these votes. he is following workers on a recovery mission. the earthquake rocked the country struggling to recover from a 7.8 earthquake that shook the region only 17 days ago. here is a look at how close the two centers are. today the shake was reported as far away as india. >> the buildings were shaking and the shocking thing is how long the earthquake went on. >> buildings crumbled. an ancient temple collapsed. workers inside ran for their

francisco promotor for murder after a woman's body was found inside a theater that he was revitalizing and taken into custody over the weekend. he is wear the green shirt trying to raise money to revitalize the theater on jackson street. a 31-year-old oakland's woman body was found in the theater over the weekend. he wanted to raise $40,000 to re-do the theater built in 1925. he remains in custody. >> new this morning, the south way residents could face water rationing next week after the largest water provider, the san jose water company unveiled rationing land last night including were of the allotments for customers in san jose, los gatos, saratoga and other communities. customer allocation is based on how much they used in 2013. california's public utilities commissions needs to approve the land. >> the amgen tour of california

evening hours and airport weather warning in affect for a bumpy ride in and out of sfo. look what it is doing for the clouds, they are almost completely gone and we are mostly sunny the better part of the afternoon and with more than 14 hours of sunshine we are three 290 degrees cooler-than-average. from sutro tower you can see mount diabolo in the distance and white clouds are having a hard time sustained any links before they fall apart and others re-develop. here is a look from the east bay hills camera with gusts at 20 to 25 miles per hour but not like the 45 to 50 on mount tamalpais and mount diabolo so for the bicycle race when they are going up hamilton it will be breezy. today, chilled breezes and showers are possible, and thunder, especially on thursday but they will start on wednesday night and a quiet weekend is in store but temperatures remain below average. today, we are in the mid-to-upper 60s through the south bay with possibly 70 in los gatos as the warm spot and

in the low-to-mid 60s for most of the peninsula 67 in palo alto and 59 in millbrae the extreme and mid-to-upper 50s along the coast and a brick day there. we will be right near 60 in downtown south san francisco, and sausalito and mid-50s at bodega bay. 65 in petaluma and 66 in san rafael and everyone else in the upper 60 to 70 in north bay valley and up to 6 a long the east bay shoreline with richmond at 64. mid-50s in the san ramon valley and low-to-mid 70s in myburg and brentwood. another cool night at the game, 58 degrees dropping down to 54 and the red sox are in town to take on the as. shear what will happen tonight, not so chilly because of the increasing clouds, and mid-40s to low 50s. now, as we fast forward to wednesday morning at 8:00 you can see the clouds on the increase, and a spotty shower is possible but more likely some drizzle until the showers move in right during the morning rush hour and hang around through
