along with their loot. this was the second crash and grab robbery in palo alto in several months. >> the photography store was hit in mid-february, two men rammed the front-end store and pushed back the steel chain gate just enough so they could crawl into the store. they shattered glass cabinets and stole cameras and gear. salesmen don dimitratos couldn't believe it was hit by a crash and grab. >> i'm surprised they keep doing it and getting away with it. so hopefully the police will finally catch them. >> reporter: san francisco has had at least a half dozen crash and grabs since last fall, including this one at wells fargo. so far, no arrests. vic lee abc 7 news. >> a teenager turned himself in for a brazen home invasion in the upscale evergreen district of san jose. the 17-year-old said he watched people caught on video armed with knives breaking into this house last friday. the family inside ran to hide in

their master bedroom to call police. police are still looking for the second robber. >> a high-profile political consultant was handcuffed in a san francisco courtroom after the attorney read details of the charges against him. >> he actually had 4,902 images of child pornography. 41-year-old enrique pierce pleaded not guilty to possessing and distributing child pornography. some of the images included babies being sodomized and children being tied up and molested. the judge raised his bail and the d.a. raised concerns he was a public safety risk since he took pictures of boys outside city hall. he worked on campaigns for mayor ed lee. people are dealing with a tragedy that is heartbreaking. four people killed in a car crash. police arrested the driver for driving under the influence, and we've now learned the names of all four victims.

three of them were 18-year-old girl seniors at four different high schools in gilroy. the fourth was a 24-year-old friend. abc 7 news reporter chris nguyen joins us with more. chris? >> cheryl, we are live at christopher high school at gilroy and you can see behind me and see the flags have been lowered. in fact, all flags in the gilroy unified district have been lowered in honor of the victims. friends and family tell me sarah williams was dedicated to her art. she was created and had her own sense of style as well as a sense of humor that made many people smile. >> the chp investigates an accident that left four people dead. >> disbelief like it didn't happen and then i come here and i have proof that it did. >> jenny's sister sarah jane williams died in the crash. >> her goofiness. she always made people laufr and she was outgoing.

>> the 18-year-old christopher high school student was set to graduate this spring. >> she wasn't the driver and i'm sure she didn't know when she got in the car that this was going to happen. i don't think any of them knew. >> reporter: chp officers got the call around 10:30 last night. they say a 1998 ford mustang left the road on a large, sweeping curve hit a dirt road, hit a berm and landed on its roof. the sole survivor anthony imbronone has been arrested on du sxishgs vehicular manslaughter. andrew sanchez is a friend of the williams family. >> there is always a tab to pick up so think about next time you take that drink and you decide to get behind the wheel. >> reporter: christopher high school hit twice in less than a week. natalya salcido died over the weekend. >> we just lost a christopher high student just a few days ago and just like, another

devastation hits gilroy, you know? just crazy. >> this community struggling with her death now having to cope once more. in gilroy chris nguyen abc 7 news. a memorial is growing in san francisco at an intersection where a 12-year-old boy was hit and killed yesterday. andrew wu was running to catch the train to get to school. someone has spray painted the word stop on the pavement. according to the san francisco examiner, the intersection of san jose and lake view avenues has a history of accidents and was earmarked for traffic safety improve amufove ams but not until the end of 2016. >> kamala harris called oncologists to quickly notify authorities after a report of a sexual assault. they addressed complaints and incidents that are being hidden by universities and not invested investigated thoroughly.

assaults rose by nearly 50% in 2013. officials say 80% of camp us attacks are never reported. >> tonight caltrans is figuring out how to deal with the latest problem with the bay bridge. workers are investigating how water got to the base of the landmark tower that can cause corrosion of the steel rods. abc 7 news reporter janet oh is live with the story. >> dan the money we pay here at the toll plaza will be used to investigate the latest problem. those overseeing the massive bay bridge project admit a mistake was made somewhere along the way, but exactly how to fix it and how much more it will cost has yet to be determined. this is the second time there's an issue with the bolt often known as steel rods on the new bay bridge. >> the bridge right now on a day-to-day basis is fine. the issue and an important issue is how it performs under an earthquake. >> they were repaired at a cost

of $45 million. now they're concerned with saltwater affecting the steel rods near the landmark water found dagdz. >> where the salt came from we don't know yet. it could be coming from when it was constructioned and one thing could be the bay water coming in there. >> routine testing lead to the discovery of a steel rod that may have corroded and fractured from the exposure to water. further testing showed cor rose of chloride in the sleeve that encases the 25-foot steel rods. they've examined about ten locations so far. >> we are very mindful of the costs and very mindful about who should be responsible for this. >> metropolitan transportation commission one of three commissions on the oversight panel said $4 million collected from toll bridges will be used to investigate the issue. they're not sure how much more it will cost to fix it. >> at the end of the day we're all paying for it one way or

rentals has passed the toughest test yet. mike inning wire passed the senate finance today and moves on to the full senate. if approved it will require online vacation company disclose the extent of their business so they can be taxed. the bill gives local government better ability to enforce regulations on those short-term rentals. >> the berkeley city council has unanimously voted to become the first city in the country to require cell phone carriers about the risk of radiation exposure. the ordinance bans retailers from selling phones without a warning label. the right to know ordinance is expected to pass a required second reading may 26th. if it does the new law will take effect in july but it will likely face legal challenges from cell phone trade groups. >> meantime, city council and berkeley proposed to outlaw tobacco products outside schools. the law would ban tobacco products within 1,000 feet of a

preliminary data shows the amtrak train that crashed last night in philadelphia was traveling 106 miles an hour just before it derailed. federal investigators say that is twice the posted speed limit of 50 miles an hour and that the engineer, 32 brandon bastion applied the full emergency braking system just before the crash. seven people were killed and more than 200 injured. one passenger says it felt like the train was flying. >> to me it felt like the car was lifting off the ground and it was lifting off the rail. we were going through a curve and whatever speed it was going at pushed it out and pushed it up and we just flew. we almost felt like flying. the washington to new york train crashed entering curve 921 local time as service between the two cities has been suspended and this is the deadliest crash since 1987 when the passenger
