daly city range from locallers to out of towners beginners to experienced. every one of them was surprised to hear about the fatal accident. >> we know a number of people that fly here all the time and the most you hear about is somebody had a wing collapse. we had a friend who hit a cliff but he just broke an arm. >> rescuer goes the call at 9:00 a.m. and said he was dead by the time they arrived. >> the area is typically very smooth. usually we don't fly here early in the morning. so i'm not too sure why he was up early but really probably doesn't mean anything. if the conditions were good. >> reporter: the beach attracts paragliders from all over the bay ask and beyond. those who love the sport say it has its risks. today's accident it a sober reminder of its inherent danger. >> we do our best to mitigate the risks.

the payoff of flying is so amazing that it's worth some risk. >> reporter: for one man it was a risk that ultimately cost him his life in daly city, abc7 news. >> developing news in eastern alameda county. sky 7hd shows us how close this fire game to drivers on interstate 580 on the altamont pass. the fire broke this afternoon in the median between the eastbound and westbound lanes. all lines of 580 are open. the fire burned 75 acres. firefighters plan to stay on the scene to make sure the fire doesn't re-ignite. thousands of runners made their way across san francisco today for the 104th running of the one and only bay-to-breakers. some came in costumes, pollution did their best to keep runners safe and alcohol-free.

rising flood waters in texas left a couple stranded on the front porch or their mobile home. a national guard rescue helicopter had to hoist them to safety. this is one on 13 water rescues performed in one texas county. one of the people rescued said he had never seen anything like

it in 25 years of living living in the area. the same system that hit texas dumped heavy rain on missouri water just covers parts of mosby. people don't know when they can return to their flooded homes. four tornado also swept through the year east of kansas citi, one destroyed homes shredded trees and overturned vehicles. that's the same area that faces the risk of flooding as well. thousands people checked out all sorts of aircraft during an open house at the hayward executive airport today. some people got a chance to see sky 7hd up close and meet crew of our news chopper. several helicopters were on display, including this one, belonging to the east bay regional park district police. aviation buffs crowdedded in the cargo bay of national guard c130 hercules aircrest. the c-130 has troops for the military for 50 years.

we have snow showers in north dakota and severe weather in the deep south but it's having an affect on our weather in the bay area shifting the jet stream so far south. the jet stream is a ribbon of air 30,000 feet in the atmosphere. i controls where storms travel and where the cool and arm air sets up. our jet stream is so far south it's dropping our temperatures from five to ten degrees below normal the next four days, and then we'll watch a couple weak quick-moving waves of energy brush by the bay area and bring us some unsettled weather the next couple of days. so tomorrow morning there is a the chance of drizzle. more miss than hit. by the afternoon, we'll break for some sunshine, and then we do it again on tuesday morning. by 5:00 in the morning, a better chance of drizzle popping up. so overnight lows tonight this clouds fill back in. upper 40s in to lower 50s and
