live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> can you see what happened at the end of a high speed chase after officers tried to stop the driver of a stolen car. it started this concord with the wrong way driver spanning two freeways and ended with the suspect's get away in berkeley. thanks for joining us. >> abc7 reporter amy hollyfield is at california and hearst. the neighborhood must be stunned? >> it was destructive. someone was hurt but the miracle is that no one was hurt on the highways and interstates where he drove between concord and here the wrong way for 30 miles.

>> the driver of this stolen honda was determined to not get caught. police chased him and the c.h.p. helicopter trailed him, he even demanded that police stop following him. >> high called 9-1-1 and made a few statements to dispatch and he relayed he was not going back to jail. >> he caught the attention of police when they realized the car was stolen but they had they pull back because he hopped on to highway 4 going the wrong direction. >> they immediately discontinued the pursuit because he was going the wrong way traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. >> they kept the helicopter above him and a light to warn other drivers as he drove the wrong way on highway 4 and on interstate 80 through oakland. he finally exited in berkeley and crashed into this s.u.v. at california and hearst. driver of the s.u.v. was taken to the hospital and the suspect ran. >> the police knocked on the door at 4:00 a.m. and i was amazed to look out the window

and see the big crash because i did not hear it. >> get back inside. they would not say what was going on. >> hit with guns drawn searched back yesterdays and cars. >> they asked for the keys so they could on the trunk and they were, like well, on the trunk they had their ar-15s pointed at the truck so i knew it was serious. >> it was serious. the suspect kept his promise he did not go back to jail. he got away. he is still missing. they are still looking for him. as for the driver of the s.u.v. he was taken to the hospital but he is expected to be okay suffering minor injuries. thanks. in campbell police are getting a lot of tips as they search for a man who tried to kidnap a girl over the weekend. investigators released new pictures of the suspect's car today. surveillance video shows the car near mason court on saturday. the girl was walking herring do

and a man pulled up in a scar asking for directions. he got out of the car and grabbed the girl in a bear hug. the girl fought back and the man drove away. >> a warning in walnut creek police are investigating an attempted sexual assault on a hiking and biking trail. it happened at 10:30 yesterday morning on the iron horse trail near creekside drive. sky shows the area near where a 16-year-old said a man grabbed her the she fought him off and he took off running into an apartment complex. the girl was not hurt. >> san francisco is making a major drive to ease traffic congestion in the worse areas. our reporter joins us to explain. matt? yes, san francisco seems to be getting busier and busier as the economy improves but now the city is targeting drivers who are blocking lanes bush treasure hour driving through san francisco can seem like a maze.

cars trucks and even city vehicles are double parked making 9 commute longer and more dangerous. that is why the san francisco metropolitan transportation agency launched the new rush hour congestion strategy today. focusing on construction projects, double parking delivery trucks and cars blocking intersections. the message is: follow the rules this is part of our education to ensure that people are following the rules. we want to make sure that every motor transportation is moving as efficiently as possible. survive extra parking enforcement officers are deployed each week during the morning and evening rush hours. the goal is not just to help drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists are delayed and put in dangerous situations because vehicles are parked in their way. >> i was commenting for myself it seemed extra crazy this morning on the bike more traffic than normal. it bothers us when there are cars blocking the road. this is about the quality of life for people living and commuting in the city. transportation officials say

>> a trip home from school went from ordinary to potentially disasterous for a kentucky girl. this surveillance video showing the girl, seven, dragged down the street by her school bus because her backpack got caught in the door. witnesses chased after the bus trying to get the driver's attention. police say the driver was completely unaware and drove the length of a football field before a man in a red car flagged hill down to stop. >> people were yelling trying to hit the bus and the bus kept going i jumped in the car and chased after it. >> the girl escaped with road rash and some scrapes on her legs. fortunately, nothing more serious. she has been released from the hospital. her mother posted a thank you on facebook and called the man in the camaro a "hero." >> elian gongs who was at the center of a tug of war between

the appeals court in san francisco ruled that google owned youtube should not have been forced to take down an antimuslim film and an actress sued, winning a lower court ruling in 1212 for the movie to be removed and said she was misled about the nature of the policemen and got death threats. it is not clear if it will be reposted on youtube. >> a man bullied throughout grade school received an unexpected apology 120 -- 20 years later. a man's daughter asked if he bullied anyone and he said yes so he sent this message to 34-year-old chad michael and said i was recently talking with my ten-year-old daughter about bullies and she asked? i came to bully and i came to mind how mean i was to you in junior high school and i apologize. he responded and thanking him for the apology and said he was the only person to apologize for being a bully and praised him

now, on live doppler hd you can see the better radar return away from us toward the east and that is where the best instability is now or the winds are coming off the ocean and are manageable right now at 10 miles per hour or less but fairfield is 18 miles per hour and it is possible they could pick up this afternoon from the golden gate east and the bay bridge north through san pablo through the delta communities from 1:00 o'clock? afternoon until 9:00 so gusty breezes or larger waves than normal. you can see how the clouds are just being stubborn and we will get some sun this afternoon but until then we have 43 minutes average for flight arrivals into sfo and you can see a few drop on the camera and even san jose is usually a brighter spot socked in with cloud cover right now. look what it has done to the temperatures: 62 in concord fairfield is 51, brentwood is 61 and everyone else in the mid-to-upper 50s.

the golden gate bridge is cloudy and we will use this as the backdrop to talk about cooler-than-average temperatures all the way through at least friday and cloudy at night with patchy drizzle and minor warming for the holiday weekend. we are trying to kickoff summer and we do not feel like it. looking at san rafael south on highway 101 just north of this, we have patchy fog and we have that again tomorrow morning, six to ten degrees below average. we could have received 14 hours of sunshine but the clouds will not let us. mid-to-upper 60s in the south bay and low-to-mid 60s this afternoon on the peninsula, and mid-to-upper 50s along the coast into downtown and south san francisco and sausalito all the way up to bodega bay and mid-to-upper mid-to-upper 60s through the north bay and cloverdale could hit 73. and mid-60s to nearly 70 degrees in inland east bay neighborhoods where we are thing of turning our heater on rather than our air conditioning.
