>> live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> i noted the water was highly caustic, like an acid breaking through your clothing and skin. >> overnight fire huge blames and dangerous chemicals create a massive environmental nightmare in san jose. >> the fire and toxic concerns forced the closing of dozens of businesses. matt keller is in san jose. matt? >> the firefighters are still here on the scene making sure there are no flare-ups. workers at dozens of brings here in this area could soon be let back in. that is not before the toxic mess is cleaned up. >> a four alarm fire ripped through the commercial building

in san jose this morning. this picture from the san jose fire department shows how big the flames got after the fire was reported around 12:30 this morning. it took them about an hour and 15 minutes to get it under control. the flames were not the biggest danger are facing firefighters. >> they used acids and zinc oxides to do etching and that type of cleaning of metal so those were the chemicals were initially involved. this volume of fire, it made sort of a chemical soup. >> that chemical soup pooled around the builtings creating a massive hat mass situation with the toxic smoke forcing half of the firefighters on the scene, around 50, to be decontaminated. it appears no firefighters were injured. >> amazingly it was kept to one commercial building.

overdose. she received six years in prison pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter and administering drugs. surveillance video shows she gave the 51-year-old forest hayes what turned out to be a fatal dose of heroin in november on the lot in santa cruz. the defense argues her judgment was clouded because she also was on heroin. >> crews have been burying the dead whales that have washed ashore. neighbors find the process to be a spectacle and a relief. our reporter is at the beach. wayne? >> it is fascinating and we can call it smelly if you are down wind. look over my shoulder, can you see the bulldozer, the big machinery down there digging? it is digging a legal for the whale. here is video from a few moments ago stage one of the aftermath after a rare spring with two

temperatures back where they should be. walnut creek camera shows shadows developing as the clouds are thinning in our inland east bay neighborhood and we are six to nine degrees cooler-than-average. in the south bay that means mid-to-upper 60s in most neighbors and los gatos at 70. and mid-60s for most of the peninsula and up north to millbrae at 59. mid-to-upper 50s along the coast into downtown south san francisco, sausalito and up to bodega bay and mid-to-upper 60s through most of the north bay and santa rosa, low-to-mid 70s and a stray shower is possible up there. 62 to 64. that is the spread along the east bay shore with oak at 63 and mid-60s the cradle of cool air in the san ramon valley and 70 in antioch and brentwood. tonight we are in the 50s again with drizzle mobile during the morning commute as our pattern remains steady. the low from the gulf alaska will woulds down thursday and friday and drops the temperatures a little bit and brings a slight chance after shadow. when it leaves, the high pressure returns.
