making news in america this morning -- breaking overnight, captured. the man wanted in connection with that deadly d.c. mansion fire no longer on the run. where police tracked him down. record flooding. homes with three feet of water inside. cars trapped and heavy hail pounding other areas. the memorial day off to a rough start weatherwise. we're tracking it all. a suspect faced down, arms out, all just waiting on a police to show up. a man takes out his gun. yes, turns the table on this would-be carjacker. plus, a group singing in the car, going from fun to downright terrifying in an instant.

and good friday morning to you all. we have breaking news to us overnight. a massive manhunt has to come an end, the suspect in the shocking murders of a wealthy d.c. family is now under arrest. >> after a week on the run daron wint was captured just miles from the mansion he allegedly set on fire with the victims inside. we get the latest from abc's bazi kanani. >> reporter: federal agents on the tail of a violent suspect. a late-night arrest after tracking his movements from new york to d.c. >> we followed him. we called police and they sent up a helicopter. we got to a situation where we could successfully take him down. >> reporter: 4-year-old daron wint is accused in the brutal murders of wealthy construction worker savvas savopoulos, his wife amy, their 10-year-old son philip, and their housekeeper, vera, the

family found slain in their home last thursday after it was set on fire. a suspect seen in this surveillance video, more clues in a voicemail. >> it's savvas. i hope you get this message. >> reporter: another house keeper told investigators she believes the family was held hostage after she received a strange call from savopoulos telling her not to come in to work. he called his bank and accountant thursday morning and an assistant later dropped off $40,000 in cash at the house. the family found dead hours later. sources tell abc news, wint was identified by dna from a leftover domino's pizza that was delivered to the home. his family described him as angry and troubled. >> he's very hostile. he's arrogant. he doesn't listen. >> reporter: now this morning, investigators say the motive is still unknown but that wint does have a connection to the family. he once worked as a welder in

savopoulos's iron manufacturing company. >> thank you so much. now to other top story, the record flooding across parts of texas. >> the national weather service said corpus christi got just over 4 1/2 inches of rain in an hour. triggering widespread flooding. this video captured what people are repeatedly told not to do, drive directly into flood waters. and wade into them unprotected. 500 miles to the north, we're getting a look inside a home in iowa park, texas, inundated under more than 3 feet of water. a woman said that her father forgot his medication, they wade through floodwaters for 200 yards just to get into the house. elsewhere along the gulf coast, those storms also bringing damaging hail. this video was tweeted out from new orleans, pea-sized hail hitting the hood of the car. >> and more heavy rain on the way, the latest radar picture showing a line of storms stretching nearly 900 miles

moving across the intermountain west, taking direct aim again on hard-hit texas and oklahoma. accuweather's justin povick with the latest. >> t.j. and reena, thanks and good morning. we're once again focusing our attention to the south plains, and not only for severe weather but more flash flooding. this is going to be a multiday-type event. just kicking off here on friday. all throughout that holiday weekend. you'll need to be prepared for floodwaters and major travel delays. wichita, kansas, oklahoma city, even towards san antonio and heading into houston. meanwhile the northeast, it's comfortable. with quiet conditions. the southeast, quite warm. sunshine and some showers and thunderstorms over the northwest. let's go a day ahead here, into memorial day itself, some of that wet weather is pushed back into that ohio valley and also the tennessee valley. t.j. and reena, back to you. >> justin, thank you. now to the oil spill along the california coast, it's forced the closure about 160 square miles of ocean to fishing. just a fraction of the

estimated 105,000 gallons of the oil leaked from a ruptured pipeline has been collected. cleanup efforts and the investigation into why that pipeline broke is expected to take months. all of that oil is having an increasing impact on wildlife. >> there have been a number of dead animals recovered.clude lobsters, bass, which is a marine fish and other marine in the area. >> the company that owns that line has had 175 safety violations in the last decade. popular beaches and campgrounds in the area will be closed through next thursday, at least. all six baltimore police officers charged in the death of freddie gray have now been indicted by a grand jury. the most serious charge is second-degree murder. which carries a 30-year penalty. the other allegations range from manslaughter to assault. rioting erupting across baltimore after gray died of his injuries. police have acknowledged that they ignored his pleas for medical attention. the pentagon says that an

expedited shipment of anti-armor weapons is set to arrive in syria next week. it should give a boost in the fighting against isis. regarding syria, the white house is conceding that the seizure of the ancient city of palmyra by isis is a setback for the u.s.-led coalition with the fall of the city. isis controls half of syria. a new revelation this morning from the clinton foundation, acknowledging that it received almost $26 million in previously undisclosed payments. the money came from major corporations, universities and other sources collected as fees from speeches given by former president clinton, hillary and chelsea clinton as well. also learning that some of the e-mails sent from hillary clinton's home server while she was secretary of state showed correspondence about benghazi with longtime confidant sidney blumenthal. said to include sensitive but nonclassified information. as we go into memorial day

controllers, it's now going into use. okay, this is kind of confusing. it will speed up the process of clearing flights for takeoff. cutting communication time from minutes to just seconds. the system will be in place in houston and salt lake city this summer. the faa hopes to have the system up and running at more than 50 airports some time next year. >> this really bothers you. >> this bothers me a great deal. >> but they're not texting their husbands and wives at home. it's work. >> i don't care who they're texting. okay, reena, your cup of coffee is going to come down in price, maybe. wholesale prices are already dropping. surplus is expected this year, the weather in brazil has been very good for growers. now, we don't know for sure if this caffeine fix of yours is going to come down in price, it really depends on whether your local barista passes the savings on to you. if you're one of the 37 million americans hitting the road this holiday weekend, gas prices are going up quickly. the average price of a gallon of gas nationwide is $2.73.

the lowest memorial day price in years. but prices are up five cents in the past week, that's because oil prices are surging, up 40% since march. and be prepared to pay a little more for some barbecue items this holiday weekend. overall food prices are up 2% but ground beef sizzled, up 14% from last year. hot dogs were up 8% and lettuce requires more green this year, also up 8%. so, serve plenty of beer, so da watermelon and potato salad. they all cost less this year. but don't fly, because people are texting. >> oh, my goodness, it's going to be a rough memorial day weekend for reena over here. it's going to be slow one for the movies. the new film tomorrowland has a good shot of coming in number one. it's expected to take in about $50 million. "pitch perfect 2" had a great opening weekend last weekend.

well. these floodwaters with tsunami-like force sweeping cars down the streets in turkey's third-largest city. one city official now saying, i told you so. twice the city has turned down his request for better storm water drainage systems. but drivers in texas and oklahoma this morning should l watch out for flooded roads. showers may leave some roads wet in florida and later today in the northeast. and if you're flying, airport delays likeliest in dallas and houston. reality star josh duggar is apologizing after reports surfaced that he molested five underaged girls when he was 15 years old. >> he's the oldest child on "19 kids and counting." he abruptly quit his job and released this statement. >> he said 12 years ago, as a younger teenager, i acted inexcusably for which i am extremely sorry and deeply regret. i hurt others, including my family and close friends.
