>> good morning, everyone, thanks for joining you are saying, i'm carolyn tyler. let's start with a quick look at our weather, meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. we have a much less extensive cloud cover this morning. the warriors pride from the exploratorium camera. temperatures cooler in the north bay, upper 40s there. 52 san francisco. 53 san jose and we have sunshine sooner today even though it's a cooler start. 7 degrees cooler in novato 4 degrees cooler from san carlos to livermore and san jose. so your forecast dodd calls for a low to mid-50s from san francisco to oakland. still a cloudy coast but mid-up

ander 70s inland and plenty of upper 60s to low 70s from redwood city fremont and mountain view. i'll have the details on a cooler memorial day but a warmer week ahead coming up. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. we don't usually start with sports, but this morning the warriors are just one game away from the nba finals. the doubles clobbered the houston rockets in game three. 115-80. a 35-point blowout. you are seeing mvp steph curry there leading the way with 40 points. raining threes on a rockets team that was clearly outclassed. abc7 news was in houston and got this most game reaction. >> if you play playoff basketball on the road, you have hecklers and guys up-close that pay a lot of money for those seats and want to get their money's worth. so it's fun. >> that's why he's mvp.

rockets in tomorrow night's game four. game five would be at oracle arena on wednesday if necessary. you can catch all the action on our sister network espn. of course abc7 is your home for the nba finals. we hope the warriors go all the way. you can catch all the exciting action beginning june 4th. ucsf chancellor said he's very supportive of the warriors plan to build a new arena in san francisco and adds he has no relationship with the group trying to stop the construction. according to the san francisco chronicle, sam is on board with the new arena, as long as it doesn't interfere with the safety of patients and staff. the warriors facility is set to go right across the street from the universities's medical center in mission bay. some of the biggest donors have launched a campaign to stop the

construction. they hope to relocate by 2018. this morning oakland police have a man in custody theycy is a triple murder suspects. the victims were killed on 54th and market streets. neighbors tell us it was a tragedy wait to go happen. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has the details. >> this happened just before 3:00 p.m. larry lives right next door. >> i heard three shots, and he heard three shots, as well. i came into the house, and he said were those gunshots? i said i think they were. >> police and a s.w.a.t. team soon arrived and evacuated them electric their home. s.w.a.t. team and investigatators were able to get the shooter out of his house. he is in custody. neighbors say they know him very well. they say he was been arrested some time ago for burglarizing their home and may have been

unstable. >> even when he burglarized our house he said we gave him permission to kick the door in. >> i'm not surprised. it's been coming for a long time. >> they haven't are released names but one of them is the accused gunman's father. no one else in the home was injured in the shooting n oakland, abc7 fuse. little in oakland a heavy police protest helped keep a protest nonvie be lent. they stopped marchers at 3rd and washington street. five people were arrested, 47 cited. protesters were demonstrating fans policy banning nighttime chars on city streets. sidewalks would be accessible. libby shaft has ordered officers to enforce a law requiring a permit before marching at night. more than a dozen arrests in cleveland after a white police

officer was acquitted in the death of two unarmed black suspects. the officer fired through the windshield of a car 15 times while standing on the hood. but the judge said he was unable to determine that the officer fired the fatal shots. the justice department will now review the evidence and exam all available options. san jose fire officials say a spark from a welder accidentally started a three alarm grass fire that threatened homes. abc7 news was on actual law vista drive near allen park right after the fire started around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. the flames burned right through a ball many tree. up to a dozen homes were threatened at one point. about four acres burned. one man is recovering from smoke inhalation. this weekend a big difference in traffic from the san mateo bridge closer two weeks ago. the bridge is closed until tomorrow morning at crews do

repaving and maintenance work. there are no major problems on the road this weekend. compare that to the closer mother's day weekend which caused traffic jams throughout the bay area. traffic is also affected by the weekend bart closer between the fruitvale and coliseum stations. it's part of the i don't know going rail replacement projects. bart is providing a bus bridge between the two stations. service is expected to resume tomorrow morning. and bart said they fixed a problem that caused a train to receive mixed messages about how fast it should travel beneath san francisco. speed code tells the automated trains how fast to go. engineers blame damaged equipment for sending incorrect speed codes to the train last sunday. >> passengers were never in danger. the train monitor was monitoring

the train codes. >> he did the right thing and hit the stop button. >> the system is aging. there's a lot of work to be done. the public is to be supportive of that. >> that happens to be the latest blip for bart. earlier this month a cracked rail in san francisco delayed tens of thousands of riders. police in san jose want to no who tried to steal a jet fuel truck and why. the thief crashed into the fence at the reid-hillview airport and left the truck there because it stopped running. investigators think it happened friday night but they did not find out about it until yesterday morning. the truck came from the san jose fuel company on the north side of the airport. the crash may have stopped the truck from going any further >> that or it ran out of gas or he broke the air pump. >> well, police are now looking for the thief. they are not sure how the person

got on to airport grounds after-hours. a coast guard official now says that mysterious boat that washed up on ocean beach may have been stolen from the st. francis yacht club in san francisco. sky 7hd was over the scene shortly after the boat hit ocean beach on friday. a witness said he saw the boat run aground and one person get off and leave. lessa is here now talking weather. seems like we are on a warming trend? >> yes, you are absolutely right! it's about time. it's been a cool month. today we are starting out with a less extensive marine layer. here's a look at san jose where temperatures are in the 50s. later on today mid-70s for a change. and slightly warmer weather on the way except for the holiday. i'll explain coming back. >> thank you lisa. also ahead a big weekend for same-sex marriage rights. historic vote in ireland. and getting all revved up for

free' tack. they believe the cat was grabbed by the neck and shaken. the mountain lion or bobcat took off without being seen. >> a three-year-old girl is recovering after she was attack by a coyote in southern california. she was bitten in the net friday evening at the silverado park in irvine. witnesses say the coyote charged the little girl while she was playing with her mother and sister. protesters dressed as bees are hoping a large march through san francisco will get the attention of a major corporation. abc7 news was outside the ferry building for the march against monsanto yesterday. the group wants that company to stop using genetically modified crops for food. they say the company's pesticides are harmful to people, the environment, and especially bees. >> other countries have band monsanto because of what they have done to the bees and what

they produce kills the bees. >> well, monsanto said independent tests shows all their food and the pesticides they use are safe for the environment. more severe weather moving across the plains states this weekend. a tornado touched done just outside oklahoma city yesterday but no major damage has been reported. tornado warnings have been issued across that state. and flash flooding is a big concern in other areas as severe thunderstorms move through. horn 20 million people could be affected. in texas a race against time yesterday as crews work to shore up riverbanks with sandbags. nearby homes have already been evacuated. later this morning you can see the indianapolis 500 right here on abc7. folks in the hugheser state got revved up with the annual prerace parade. an estimated 300,000 people

warmer, that's what is on tap. live doppler hd is quiet this morning. the showers in the sierra nevada have backed off and they will see more in the way of sunshine. ex-blow are forum camera clouds around with low 350's for san francisco and oakland. good morning san jose, 53. 51 half moon bay. here's the view from mt. tam. with that earlier sunrise, you can see how pretty it looks out there. that's above the marine lay layer. 47 santa rosa. it's cooler for you with the dryer atmosphere mixing in and without the moisture we lose a few degrees. 53 napa, 46 novato and mid-50s for concord and livermore. we are looking at clear skies now. some of the cloudiness could touch parts of our east bay but then it pulls back quickly. into the south bay another view for you where we are looking at partly cloudy skies this morning. sunny and milder today. temperatures coming up about five degrees for most. we will turn cooler tomorrow. there's an area of low pressure dropping down from the pacific

northwest and that ramps up the on shore push. today and tomorrow cool with just 50s at the coast. but that cooler air will translate into cooler afternoon highs for inland valleys as well. finally, the dryer air with the low departing, and that means more sunshine for the sierra nevada. still an outside chance of some showers there but the ridge that has been offshore begins to build on in today. so that will be much. the case for the week ahead. besides that weak little system tomorrow we will see numbers coming up to warmer readings. so that is a switch. here's a look at the fog footprint this morning where you can see just pushing over into san leandro and hayward. but then by 9:00 we are clear in our east bay valleys. and just a few patches of fog right around our bay shore, and you will notice it clears. but not in san francisco totally. we we will be cool again today in the with more cloud cover but in the south bay take a look at

all the 70s today. los gatos 76. sunnyvale 72 and on the peninsula out of the 60s today for most from redwood city to mountain view with 67 in san mateo. here are the clouds. downtown with upper 50s from daly city. 63 right by the embarcadero. we will look for mid-70s up toward santa rosa. some warming here. 72 sonoma. near east bay breezy winds in the afternoon but in the upper 60s for union city and newark. head inward low to mid-70s from san ramon valley to concord. you head to the delta and you are through the upper 70s. accuweather seven-day forecast warmer today. we've got a slight dip for the holiday tomorrow staying cloudy at the coast and then temperatures will kind of hold steady throughout the middle of the week and finally just a gradual warmup. that's all we need. we don't want anything too out of control with staying cool and cloudy at the coast. you can see what's showing up on live doppler 7hd anytime with the abc7 news weather app.

a. >> a san leandro couple prepared for their final days by buying a cemetery plot and stone. >> she visits her husband's grave in hayward. it's the first time she's been back there to pay her respects to see the proper headstone. she and her husband joseph, prepaid for the grave site and

headstone in 1999. >> we wouldn't have to worry about it. it wants be a burden. >> joseph died of cancer in 2007. astray headstone like this one was placed there while a permanent one was being built. >> they guaranteed it would be put in shortly after and it only takes three weeks. lisa moved out-of-state to a second home in alabama shortly after the funeral. >> i don't believe in coming back for the cemetery because my husband is in heaven. it's difficult for me to come to grave sites. >> other family members assumed the temporary plaque was permanent. it wasn't until lewis finally visited in september that she realized what happened. her emotions were from ager to grief and beyond. >> it was almost like guilt that i would not have come back and checked on this. >> she contacted the chapel of the chimes in hayward but it asked for the original paperwork which she did not have. two months went by and she remained uncertain about the stats us of her husband's heads

>> welcome back. we are starting this half-hour with a look at the weather. here's meteorologist lisa argen. >> hey there carolyn. hi everyone. good morning to you. in san francisco you can see the dark cloud deck here. the sun coming up at 35:54. you won't see any of that here and the west wind will be up to 20 miles an hour today in the city. that will keep it rather cool downtown and, in fact, partly cloudy. 48 morgan hill. cooler in some shots. the warming trend comes today inland and around the bay. san francisco coastside staying much the same. we will look for temperatures in the mid-and upper 70s. here notice the darker shade of orange. that's where we hit the 80s into the a valley. so still a little bit on the cool side but about five degrees warmer than yesterday. we will talk about the holiday tomorrow and a warmer week ahead

for the last week of may coming up. >> lisa, thank you. now to the sexton abuse allegations involving a popular reality tv family. a son on the show "19 kids and counting" accuse the af molesting 5 young girls when he was a teenager. here's ron claiborne on the growing fall-out. >> this is a story of my family. we are the duggers. >> the show pulled off the tv. josh with drew brees from a public appears next week. with the duggar family rocked by sexton abuse allegations against him, the fate of their popular reality show, 19 kids and counting is uncertain. >> i don't see a paths for redemption in the television world. the whole brand is really destroyed by this. >> the past tuesday one of the alleged victims asked an arkansas judge to ex-spunk the 2006 police report on the allegations. on nurse take the judge agreed

and john casey, who may run for the white house in 2016, will be on the hot seat. it will air at 3:00 this afternoon on abc7 because of the din 500. the operator of the oil pipeline that spilled 105,000 gallons of crude in santa barbara county said it has a save shut down process in place. plains all-american pipeline said their system of having operators remotely shut down the lin is safer than having a computer do it automatically. pipeline is the only one in the county not required to have an automatic shut off valve. the beach will remain closed through memorial day weekend and likely will not open until sometime next month. san francisco muni officials say today's launch of a new feature called double stopping will help riders get to their destination faster. at montgomery, powell and civic

center stations two trains will now let riders off simultaneously. after the first train loads up and leaves, the second train pulls forward to allow customers to board. double stopping will be used during times of heavy congestion like the morning and the evening commutes. some kids in east palo alto have received a gift from their well-known neighbors around the corner. facebook helped build a special space at a local school that teachers say will pave the way to a brighter future for students. here's abc7 news reporter jonathan bloom. >> driving a robot around with an ipads sure doesn't feel like schoolwork. neither does building machines out of wooden blocks. >> this isn't seem like work. >> thomas edison all of those lightbulbs that didn't work, led to the ones that did. >> that's the sort of thinking these kids learn in the new maker space. >> it's like a 21st century workshop. students can come in and work on whatever interests them.

>> there are computers, 3d printers and even legos. >> it's the ability for students to be creative and express themselves. >> brentwood is the second maker space in a school district that takes nothing for grant the. >> we are the little hub of poverty amongst the wealth of silicon valley. >> the schools serve east palo alto and a small corner of menlo park that happens to include the sprawling campus of facebook. >> the students are neighbors. it's our responsibility and part of our culture, who mark zuckerberg is and who we are as a company that we are creating strong partnerships with our neighbors. >> they donated millions of dollars to the bay area schools. they thought schools like this one could level the playing field. >> maybe the founder of the next facebook is here in this room. >> they have been in the physical building blocks of the building space. they donated the mac pro laptops and tables and chairs but they are also donating something else, time. >> facebook folks come to work with our students through

tutoring. >> and they have visited the campus and modeled rooms over the spaces. >> this is a community i grew up in so this means a lot to me. i was a student here. >> now the students who follow will be better prepared. >> they will be more prepared for the every day job. they can work in pam at valley. >> abc7 news. >> this morning the diamond celebration continues at disneyland marking 60 years since opening day. this week the park debuted three new night time spectaculars to sell great. back in 1955 walt disney wanted to create a place where parents and kids could have fun together. and since then 700 million people that's about 44,000 a day, have come to enjoy the rides, parades performances. one of the cast members was there on opening day. he later took a job there and hasn't looked back. if you can imagine, a large bunch of kids doing the most exciting thing up to that time

back pain left him worried about moving at all. >> at first it was sort of slow and within about three weeks i could maybe do five steps and had to sit down on something hard. >> a piece of the disk came out of the space. >> san francisco spine surgeon dr. kenneth lite diagnosed a deteriorating disk in his lower back. for years the common solution is to fuse the disks together. it does ease pain but limits natural movement and can move the problem up or down the spine. >> it creates a stress riser or a point of stress where the fused body attached to the mobile part of the body. instead he recommended an emerging technology called a disk replacement. rather than fusing he taps the two service was a metal plate. the plate slides between acting as a replacement disk and allowing the spine to twist and

checking out the city at 52, as well as san carlos 53. oakland and san jose upper 40s morgan hill. half moon bay another cool day on the way. 51 from mt. tam. the low cloud deck is with us, and it's cloudy in napa at 53 degrees. santa rosa cooler 47. 48 in novato with mid-50s throughout concord and livermore 53 degrees. we will look at numbers to come up into the mid-up ander 70s in the inland valleys, and really all month long. we haven't seen much of any 80-degree warmth. that's on the way, just a little bit of it for the week ahead. partly cloudy to mostly cloudy this morning. sunny and milder today. here's a look at the shark tank. and turning cooler tomorrow the on-shore winds are going to kick up because of a system dropping down into the pacific northwest. so even though high pressure sits off the coast and it's trying to build into the eastern pacific, a weak will system, a trough will once again shunt the warming tomorrow.

for today it's the dryer air that's allowing for the sierra nevada to dry out see some sunshine. the bay area, much of california warming up and in fact into the sacramento valley. finally some 80s there. we will enjoy that today. in fact with the numbers in the 80s from sacramento to fresno, feeling a little more seasonal there. upper 80s in chico and notice the possibility of a few storms popping up in the sierra nevada. 76 in yosemite and the surf kicks up from the central coast all the way down into southern california with a few more clouds around. low 70s there todd. in livermore we are in the mid-70s. just about the next couple of days. very little change. notice the gradual warmup into next week. in fact, those final days of may into the low 68 #* -- the low 80s. we say status quo through the early parts of the week and look what happens the end of the week. upper 70s.
