>> welcome back. thanks for joining us. here's lisa argen with a look at the weather. >> it looks dreary now but the sunshine will be revealed sooner for some of you. it's 52 in the city. we are looking at that cooler weather in our inland east bay this morning. 5 degrees cooler in san jose. you are warming up today. the fringes will warm up. i will still see the clouds and cooler numbers at the coast. temperatures today in the low to mid-60s from san francisco to

oakland. partly cloudy there. but mid-and upper 70s as you head out toward our inland valleys. and we will even see more sunshine sooner into our east bay. i'll detail the slightly warmer forecast today and then a much warm are week ahead in a few minutes. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. topping the now, the magical ride of the warriors. this morning the team is just one game away from the nba finals. the doubles clobbered the houston rockets in game three. 115-80. a 35-point blowout. you are seeing mvp steph curry there leading the way with 40 points. raining threes on a rockets team that was clearly outclassed. abc7 news was in houston and got this most game reaction. >> if you play playoff basketball on the road, you have hecklers and guys up-close that pay a lot of money for those seats and want to get their money's worth. so it's fun. >> that's why he's mvp.

>> he is now the warriors try to sweep the hockets in tomorrow night's game four. game five would be at oracle arena on wednesday, if necessary. you can catch all the action on our sister network espn. of course, abc7 is your home for the nba finals. we hope the warriors go all the way. you can catch all the exciting action beginning june 4th. >> new details this morning about the battle to build a new warriors arena as i across the street from the ucsf medical center in mission bray. according to ""the chronicle"" the universities chancellor is on board with the new arena as long as it doesn't interfere with the safety of patients and staff. the warriors facility is set to go right across the street from the universities's medical center in mission bay. some of the biggest donors have launched a campaign to stop the construction. they hope to relocate by 2018. this morning oakland police

have a man in custody they say is a triple murder suspect. the victims were killed on a shooting at the home at 54th and market streets. neighbors tell us it was a tragedy wait to go happen. abc7 news reporter sergio quintana has the details. >> this is a triple shooting that happened just before 3:00 p.m. larry and rick live right next door. >> i heard three shots, and he heard three shots, as well. i came into the house, and he said were those gunshots? i said i think they were. >> police and a s.w.a.t. team soon arrived and evacuated them from their home. s.w.a.t. team and negotiators were able to get the shooter out of his house. he is in custody. neighbors say they know him very well. they say he had been arrested some time ago for burglarizing their home and may have been unstable. >> even when he burglarized our house he said we gave him permission to kick the door in.

>> i'm not surprised. this has been coming for a long time. >> police haven't released names but one of them is the accused gunman's father. no one else in the home was injured in the shooting n oakland, abc7 fuse. little in oakland a heavy police protest helped keep a protest nonviolent. sky 7hd shows where police stopped marchers last night at 3rd and washington street near jack london square. s five people were arrested, 47 cited. protesters were demonstrating against a policy banning nighttime marches on city streets. sidewalks would be accessible. the mayor has ordered officers to enforce a law requiring a permit before marching at night. more than a dozen arrests in cleveland after a white police

officer was acquitted in the death of two unarmed black suspects. the officer fired through the windshield of a car 15 times while standing on the hood. but the judge said he was unable to determine if the officer fired the fatal shots. the justice department will now review the evidence and exam all available options. san jose fire officials say a spark from a welder accidentally started a three-alarm grass fire that threatened homes. abc7 news was on actual law -- tulla vista drive near allen park right after the fire started around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. the flames burned right through a palm tree. up to a dozen homes were threatened at one point. about four acres burned. one man is recovering from smoke inhalation. this weekend a big difference in traffic from the san mateo bridge closer two weeks ago. the bridge is closed until tomorrow morning as crews do repaving and maintenance work. there are no major problems on

the road this weekend. compare that to the closer on mother's day weekend which caused traffic jams throughout the bay area. traffic is also affected by the weekend bart closer between the fruitvale and coliseum airport stations. it's part of the ongoing rail replacement projects. bart is providing a bus bridge between the two stations. service is expected to resume tomorrow morning. and bart said they fixed a problem that caused a train to receive mixed messages about how fast it should travel beneath san francisco. speed codes tell the automated trains how fast to go. engineers blame damaged equipment for sending incorrect speed codes to the train last sunday. >> passengers were never in danger. the train operator was monitoring the train codes.

he noticed they were fluctuating so he did the right thing and he hit the stop button. >> the system is aging. there's a lot of work to be done. the public is to be supportive of that. >> that happens to be the latest glitch for bart. earlier this month a cracked rail in san francisco delayed tens of thousands of riders. police in san jose want to know who tried to steal a jet fuel truck and why. the thief crashed into the fence at the reid-hillview airport and left the truck there because it stopped running. investigators think it happened friday night, but they did not find out about it until yesterday morning. the truck came from the san jose fuel company on the north side of the airport. the crash may have stopped the truck from going any further >> that, or it ran out of gas or he broke the air pump. >> well, police are now looking for the thief. they are not sure how the person got on to airport grounds after-hours.

thing change is especially surprising in a predominantly catholic country where just two decades ago it was still a crime to be gay. here's the reaction on the landslide victory. >> at dublin castle, the green gave way to the rainbow flag. the supporters of same-sex marriage celebrating victory. >> shouted like i won't be afraid. >> same-sex marriage is already legal in 19 countries. but never before by a popular vote. this, in conservative catholic ireland. >> i'm happy. >> bridgid and patty white's son is gay. their video urging a yes vote went viral. >> 20 years i probably would have voted no, but now that i know gay people and see the love and joy that can bring to life and i will be voting yes. >> national debate in ireland just as fierce as it is in the states. >> it is not right for two men

or women to get married and have kids. >> but in dublin overwhelming support. one priest there even came out in church telling parishioners he's gay. they gave him a standing ovation. a stunning admission from one of ireland's most senior catholic clerics who had been urging a no vote. >> if this referendum is an affirmation of the votes of young people, the church has a huge task in front of it. >> that was david wright voting. -- or reporting. more than three out of five gave their approval for changing the nation's constitution to allow same-sex marriage. abc7 news was at the san francisco bearium in honor for gay rights pioneer and late city supervisor harry milk. it contains photos and other memorabilia. milk would have turned 85 on

friday. san mateo county pet owners are on alert after a mountain lion, or maybe it was a bobcat attacked a house cat. it happened friday afternoon in the cliff order ridge neighborhood. the cat that was further is recovering from surge to remain torn muscles in her neck. the owner sent she's pictures free' tack. they believe the cat was grabbed by the neck and shaken. the mountain lion or bobcat took off without being seen. >> a three-year-old girl is recovering after she was attacked by a coyote in southern california. she was bitten in the neck friday evening at the silverado park in irvine. witnesses say the coyote charged the little girl while she was playing with her mother and sister. protesters dressed as bees are hoping a large march through san francisco got the attention

of a major corporation. abc7 news was outside the ferry building for the march against monsanto yesterday. the group wants that company to stop using genetically modified crops for food. they say the company's pesticides are harmful to people, the environment, and especially bees. >> other countries have banned monsanto because of what they have done to the bees and what they produce kills the bees. >> monsanto said independent tests shows all their food and the pesticides they use are safe for the environment. more severe weather moving across the plains states this weekend. a tornado touched down just outside oklahoma city yesterday, but no major damage has been reported. tornado warnings have been issued across that state. flash flooding is a big concern in other areas as severe thunderstorms move through. more than 20 million people

could be affected. in texas a race against time yesterday as crews work to shore up riverbanks with sandbags. nearby homes have already been evacuated. later this morning you can see the indianapolis 500 right here on abc7. folks in the hoosier state got revved up with the annual prerace parade. an estimated 300,000 people lined the streets of indianapolis to wave and cheer. all 33 drivers in today's race served as honorary grand marshals. after patrick dempsey, formerly from abc's "grey's anatomy" will be the honorary starter. coverage starts at 8:00 this morning right here on abc7 right here, right now my buddy lisa argen, talking about a change in the weather finally. >> rights. just a modest change but more changes ahead for the week. and that will warm up everybody

bridge. socked in. it will be a cool day at the coast. 50s for everyone. we had some sun yesterday around stinson beach. today looks rather gray. but for most of you it will be sunnier and milder. we will enjoy that. turning cooler tomorrow. the holiday, memorial day allowing for a stronger on shore push. area of low pressure drops down from the pacific northwest. as this system pushes out dryer air is pulling in due to high pressure as it builds off the coast. so it's temporary warmup. we get the cool-down tomorrow and then a bigger warmup for the second half of the work week. here is the fog this morning. by 9:00 eats pretty much outs of here. sunny skies. look where the fog is from the san mateo coast all the way around around the marin coast and point reyes. it will be cool there. temperatures up into the mid-70s today. that's about 5 degrees warmer in san jose. 76 los gatos. low 70s for you in mountain

view and and 58 pacifica half moon bay. in san francisco it will be breezy winds up to 20 miles an hour. with the partly to mostly cloudy sky, still upper 50s to low 60s. but in the north bay you are into the 70s. but you headway north cloverdale and lake port, perhaps 80s for you. otherwise low 70s in sonoma. mid-to upper 60s for you in union city. berkeley it should be a nice afternoon. a little breezy. you head inland and look how closer to the 80-degree line. that's where the orange are up in the valleys. concord 76. 72 pleasanton. the accuweather seven day forecast. it will warm up for most today except at the coast. looking cooler, on-shore winds tomorrow. that's kind of typical for memorial day. very little change on tuesday. but a bigger change comes our way for the rest of the bay. low 80s returning for the first time in about four weeks

picture changes so quickly from the east bay hills camera. you see the fog blowing across the camera here and in the distance it's mt. diablo. 52 degrees where it's sunny in the east bay valleys. 49 morgan hill and the low cloud deck is really thing out. this is sutro. you can't see much from the obstructed view and some of the fog. but we are looking at a warmer day inland. 54 sunny skies by the delta, and 46 it's clear in santa rosa. so here's the way it's going to pan out for the next couple of hours. the fog peels back quickly across the bay. we will be looking at a sunny and warmer day by about 5 degrees today in our inland east bay. even in the east bay numbers edging up to near the upper 60s, near 70. 70 redwood city. but the coast if we are going see the clouds and even san francisco on the cool side. we will talk about the holiday tomorrow and a warmer week for the last week of may in just a few minutes. carolyn. >> lisa, thank you. now to the sex abuse

allegations involving a popular reality tv family. the oldest son on the show "19 kids and counting" is accused of molesting five young girls when he was a teenager. here's ron claiborne on the growing fall-out. >> this is a story of my family. we are the duggers. >> the show pulled off the tv. josh withdrew from a public appearance at a christian con convention next week in ohio. with the duggar family being rocked by sex abuse allegations against him, the fate of their popular reality show, "19 kids and counting," is uncertain. >> i don't see a path for redemption in the television world. the whole brand is really destroyed by this. >> this past tuesday one of the alleged victims asked an arkansas judge to expunge the 2006 police report on the allegations. on thursday the judge agreed and ordered it destroyed. >> let's all hold hands here. >> the duggar brand is wholesome, christian values.

"this week" will air at 3:00 this afternoon on abc7 because of coverage of the indy 500. the operator of the oil pipeline that spilled 105,000 gallons of crude in santa barbara county said it has a safe shut down process in place. plains all-american pipeline said their system of having operators remotely shut down the line is safer than having a computers do it automatically. the pipeline is the only one in the county not required to have an automatic shut off valve. the beach will remain closed through memorial day weekend and likely will not open until sometime next month. san francisco muni officials say today's launch of a new feature called double stopping will help riders get to their destination faster. at montgomery, powell and civic center subway stations two trains will now let riders off simultaneously. after the first train loads up and leaves, the second train pulls forward to allow customers to board. double stopping will be used

>> now the students who follow will be better prepared. >> they will be more prepared for the every day job. they can work in pam at valley. >> abc7 news. >> this morning the diamond celebration continues at disneyland, marking 60 years since opening day. this week the park debuted three new night time spectaculars to celebrate. back in 1955 walt disney wanted to create a place where parents and kids could have fun together. and since then 700 million people, that's about 44,000 a day, have come to enjoy the rides, parades, performances. one of the cast members was there on opening day. he later took a job there and hasn't looked back. if you can imagine, a large bunch of kids doing the most exciting thing up to that time in their life. everyone shouting and squealing.

huntington beach in southern california will be packed this memorial day. however, many people will decide to stay out of the water. that's because police spotted more than a dozen great white sharks in the water near the sunset beach. there are signs posted warning swimmers and surfers. on friday they tagged 7 great

. >> a technology still being considered experimental in the united states is being used to treat severe pain in the lower back. and unlike some alternatives, it can preserve a full range ever motion. eric thomas reports. >> tim goodson is a man who likes to move fast. >> motorcycles and hot rod racing. >> but earlier this year severe back pain left him worried about moving at all. >> at first it was sort of slow, and within about three weeks i could maybe do five steps and had to sit down on something hard. >> a piece of the disk came out of the space. >> san francisco spine surgeon dr. kenneth liet, diagnosed a deteriorating disk in his lower

back. for decades the common solution is to fuse the disks together. it does ease pain, but limits natural movement and can move the problem up or down the spine. >> it creates a stress riser or a point of stress where the fused part of the body attached to the mobile part of the body. instead, he recommended an emerging technology called a disk replacement. rather than fusing, he taps the two surfaces with a metal plate. a high-strengthth disk slides between the two, acting as a replacement disasking allowing the spine to twist and flex. while disk replacement has been approved in europe for years it is still considered experimental in the u.s. and can take months of negotiations with an insurer to convince them to cover the procedures. >> his case was complicated because it involved the lower back, which absorbs more stress

coast or do something like that. >> yeah, nice morning. it's been pretty dreary. you see the clouds around san francisco. up above it's sunny and in the inland valleys it's sunny. live doppler hd not picking up much in the way of cloud cover because there isn't much. high pressure builds in. the shark tank looking at the sunny start with temperatures in the low 50s for you. san carlos 52. san francisco 52 degrees. it's been sunny at the airport for a short time. looking at 49 in morgan hill w that dryer air mass temperatures have dropped a few degrees especially in the north bay. and low clouds here from mt. tam. look at santa rosa. 46 degrees. that's about 7 8 degrees cooler than yesterday morning. 489 in novato. fairfield sunny k south west winds about 16 miles an hour. temperatures climb into the mid-and even upper 70s here. but if you are way up north toward lake port in the north bay, you will be looking at some

80s. kind after spooky picture for you from lake tahoe but things are improving here. it was pretty rainy yesterday and today a little sun on the weather resource. partly cloudy this morning for most with sunny and milder conditions today. but, you know, that will be the trend for next week. we will skip over memorial day because that's going to cool down. but warmer air is on the way. an area of low pressure will allow for a stronger on shore push tomorrow for the holiday. if you want to get out and enjoy sunnier conditions, today is the day for most. although into next week finally getting into some 80s in our inland valleys. with high pressure building offshore, we have a ridge and that allows for temperatures to come up about 5 degrees today. anywhere from 2 to 4 degrees around the bay. statewide the surf is kicking newspaper southern california. strong rip currents here. a few more clouds in southern california at 71. and even though we have thunderstorms possible in the sierra nevada, you will get into more sunshine and a warmer day.
