building in vallejo to charred rubble today. it took three dozen firefighters an hour and a half to get the flames under control at this commercial building. the single story building has been unoccupied for at least a year but homeless people were known to stay there. >> primary search, and then we went into a defensive operation. >> no one was injured. firefighters say fighting the flames was challenging because the building bass -- was boarded up. >> details on the oil spill off the santa barbara county coast. since the beginning of the response cleanup crews have collected just under 9500-gallons of an oily water mick tour. the pipeline spilled 105,000-gallons of crude on tuesday. one sea lion and five pelicans have died. nine other oil soaked pelicans are being treated. a washing from a pet owner

san mateo county who says a mountain lion attacked her cat friday in the clipper ridge neighborhood. the cat was attacked on the street and is recovering from surgery to repair torn muscles in his neck. his owner sent pictures of her pet before the attack. the mountain lion or bobcat took out without being seen. some good news for commuters. caltrans expects the san mateo bridge to re-open on time 5:00 tomorrow morning after a major construction project. workers are in the final stages of repaving the lanes. when the finish they will have replaced hundred thousand square photo of pavement. drivers can expect quieter and smoother ride thanks to a surface developed by caltrans engineers. >> the polyester concrete has been successful on bridge decks especially steel decks. it's a sealant. helps to keep the steel deck from being corroded and also

thousands of people fled in nepal after the victim was blocked by a landslide. two powerful earthquakes devastated nepal killing nearly 8700 people. the quakes and aftershocks triggered several landslide. actress susan sarandon arrived in nepal and urged tourists to return and people should make reservations to travel to nepal after the rainy season end inside september. >> that's the next wave to get people to think of nepal not as an ongoing disaster but as a

area. if you're on the road or someone is on the road this fire is impacting capital expressway police shut down both directions of east capital expressway so the fire broke out just around 4:30 this evening and is burning in a field near the east ridge mall. we're keeping an eye on the situation and will have more at 6:00. the skydiver injured in a memorial day event. take a look. winds appear to have cared the skydiver off course ask into powerlines yesterday in tennessee. the man was airlifted to the hospital and is expected to be okay even giving a thumbs up as he headed to the hospital. a special milestone this memorial day weekend for a local world war ii veteran. we were in castro valley for the celebration of john's 100 minnesota birthday. she joined the navy in 1934.
