delays. the day planner for memorial day is 50 to 56 and off to a mild start. the drizzle fades by noon but the coast could linger longer, at 56 there. and up to 70 as the clouds elsewhere other than the coast and the clouds return in the evening with a sea breeze the big story. that will keep us cooler-than-average temperatures. >> people are headed home on the roads. maybe they will leaveerly -- leave early. >> the weather was cloudy and chilly at disneyland. right now, san mateo bridge shows traffic open in both directions. we do have c.h.p. patrol unit on the westbound portion. eastbound traffic has been able to travel law. westbound has just re-opened. that project went smooth as silk. that is san jose. if you are in the south bay travels on 87 near the shark

tank no worries. >> the holiday weekend continues with the may rebridge closure over. it was to re-open at 5 o'clock a.m. our reporter joins us at the bridge with the update. >> morning, as you heard leyla say, the bridge is back open. we are seeing the first group of cars headed to the westbound ramp to the toll plaza to cross the bridge. traffic is finally moving after the big weekend closure. from the bay bridge toll plaza you can see what it looks like. drivers have been kept off the bridge since friday night. caltran took the weekend to do maintenance and construction to prolong the life of the aging span. crews resurfaced the road to install new expansion joints stretching seven miles the san mateo bridge is the longest in the bay area. it is warned that thousands of drivers who use there have been inconvenienced. >> it helps to keep the steel deck from being corroded and

provides for solid and quiet and smooth right for drivers to drive. >> they are opening the lanes of the san mateo and hayward bridge later than they would have liked. there was an issue with overhead l.e.d. light signs. there are no additional closures planned now. bridge is back open. traffic is moving this morning. 5:03. a win tonight in houston will bring the warriors into the finals. they are up 3-0 game four is tone. amy hollyfield is in san francisco where more. amy? >> yes, we are ready. look at the san francisco skyline: the buildings are in blue and gold, warriors colors. they are ready for the game. this could be the night they

pittsburg veteran memorial and the event on the uss hornet is at 1:00 o'clock in alameda this afternoon. we have a full list at abc7news.com. >> in sonoma d.n.a. evidence helped identify the remains of a man missing for nearly five years. a man walk out of a care facility in 2010 and a year ago a man called to report finding human bones in a wooded area of shiloh park in windsor. 9 bones were confirmed by d.n.a. testing the he died less than two years ago with no trauma to his body. >> we could learn of accused gypsy hill murder killer is competent. he is charged with killing two young women in pacifica and millbrae in 1976 and suspected in murders of three others in northern california and nevada. investigators matched his d.n.a. to cigarette butts last at the scene of some of crimes.

>> police are looking for a suspect in a stabbing at pittsburg bay point station around 4:30 p.m. yesterday. the victim is expected to survive. police have not released any information of a motive. >> a domestic cat may not have been attacked by a mountain lion along the cost as suspected originally. the cat is expected to fully recover after suffering severe wounds on the back of his neck. the veterinarians think he was attacked by a bobcat which is smaller than a mountain lion. the doctor called him lucky do have survived because of the nature of his wounded. the cat will head home next week. >> we have extraordinary video to show you this morning to give you a feeling of the extreme weather hitting the midwest. this is from kansas a storm chaser capture the huge tornado forming that took up the entire sky. the tornado unleashed a crack lightning barrage with heavy rains and tornadoes battering

covering daly city dublin los gatos and all the bay area this is abc7 news. welcome back on monday morning. a virginia man is in custody this morning after police in washington, dc destroyed a pressure cooker found in his car parked near the capitol building. the police officers on routine patrol spotted the vehicle. police identified "items of concern," inside the car and the bomb squad moved in. the owner of the car was found and arrested. a bomb like that was used in the boston marathon. >> the chairman of the house armed services committee is concerned about isis and nuclear weapons. the congressman said they would "of course use a nuclear weapon if given the chance."

the congressman said there is no evidence they are trying to get the weapon but isis is claiming they have the resources to acquire nuclear weapons from pakistan in a year. >> a 5.6 earthquake shook tokyo overnight. this is video of the shaking taken from a camera mounted on a skyscraper. there are no reports of damage or casualties. a tsunami warning was issued but it lasted only a few minutes before being canceled. >> the 23 wars of the japanese capital felt the shaking. >> tourists are urged to return to nepal and make reservations after the rain. an actress is there staying with nuns and then at a damaged orphanage. today is a month since the first devastating earthquake. >> so many want to support the relief and recovery efforts if you want to donate you can text "nepal," to 90999 to contribute

$10. good news at the pump could be bad news on the road. here is america's money report. >> morning everyone topping america's money, what could be a highway nightmare, aaa estimates 33 million people will be on the road over the three-day holiday weekend with the highest number we have seen in 10 years pause of the cheaper gas. a gallon now costs $2.75. that is down $1 from a year ago. >> movie goers were not going to the movies necessarily. number one was "tomorrow land," over $41 million. "pitch perfect," was close second in sales. finally, what could force beer prices higher. the answer here is hops, the main ingredient. the drought in the west is not helping production and there is strong demand from craft brewers

there at the coast and maybe nothing. 50s this. 60s. a few stents are possible. but that is the egg exception. to the south upper 60 to low 70s here. all the way to los altos mid-to-upper 60s on the peninsula and mid-to-upper 50s in the coast and downtown and south san francisco possibly 60. same in sausalito and upper 50s along the north bay coast with clouds and ten degrees warmer until you get to santa rose in the 70s and cloverdale, nearly 80 degrees. berkeley is 62. everyone else in the mid-to-upper 60s along the shoreline and upper 60s in san ramon valley and low-to-mid 70s elsewhere of the tonight we will have low-to-mid 50s but drizzle is possible and maybe not is widespread. at the as game 105 the clouds open up. take the sun screen. look at the temperatures. they stay in the 50s and 60s at the coast. the 70s become more come than around the bay and even 80s inland thursday through the

weekend. leyla? >> we did well. the san mateo bridge everything is re-opened on schedule both eastbound and westbound and it is smooth sailing between hayward and's step city. congratulations to everyone who managed to make it without it over the weekend. right now you can see the drops on the lens have dried up and it looks like a dry ride between hayward and's step city. now, what is happening at the bay bridge toll plaza, traffic is quite manageable and quiet for the memorial morning and as we take you over to the east bay, 680 is at top speeds of 65 miles per hour from concord to pleasant hill and walnut creek. if your traveling take you along highway 24 through lafayette and orinda, no worries. highway 4 law martinez and hercules is manageable. i-80 away from hercules as well looking good.

least inland east bay and the south bay is drying. here is a look at the marine layer, we have a lot of moisture and a small area and that is why the drizzle continued to fall. itclouds will linger along the bay in the 12 hours day planner but inland you need sunshine to get to 70 and the clouds will rollback on sea breeze by 7:00. it will be cooler-than-average temperatures and damp through the morning hours. >> thank you mike. san mateo bridge re-opened. >> indeed. it has. we will look at it. shall we? it is a beautiful sight. traffic there is moving nicely as you head between hayward and foster city. they did the repairs on the high-rise and that has been completed and the bridge is ours again. traffic is certainly manageable this morning and it has been a holiday light all morning with bay bridge toll plaza and this is when you see the cars collecting in the cash-paying lanes but not this morning. folks have the day off today.

i want to when you there is a wind advisory for the benicia bridge if you drive high-profile vehicle keep both hands on the wheel and drive safe. breaking news from east oakland with a stand off with a murder suspect. there was a report of a shooting believe 8:00 p.m. with a person dead and another person was driven to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound. the suspect they believe is responsible for the double shooting is barricaded inside a home and renewing to surrender. we will update the situation when we get more information. >> the san mateo bridge is re-opened to traffic in both directions and the eastbound traffic re-opened first and later on the westbound transaction. we are at the toll plaza with more. or, the entire bridge re-opened just before amendment and you can see a steady flow of drivers using the lanes but it has been very light out here and it is memorial so we do not see

as many drivers as we would usually see heading to work this time of morning. here is a picture from the toll plaza camera to give you a look of what we are seeing out here. there was a long weekend closure, with drivers kept off the bridge since friday night at 10:00. caltrain needed to do some maintenance work and they needed to re-pave the lanes and install new expansion joints to prolong the life span of the bridge. the spokesman was closed overmother's day weekend which caused major traffic jams an the bay area. officials warned this time that the thousands of drivers that use the span could be inconvenienced but it turned out not to be so bad. >> we resurfaced 500,000 square feet. caltrain developed a special concrete in the 80s and it is regular concrete with polyester

added to it so it is lightweight, strong, and durable riding surface. >> this the first time crews have resurfaced the bridge in 48 years. there are no additional closures landed. that is good news for thousands who use this each day. one of the reasons why caltran picked this weekend to finish up the work is because a lot of people go out of town over the three day weekend to observe memorial day. as you can see, there are no problems. it is light. a brushfire that forced the closing of a major road began in a homeless encampment. we were in san jose when the fire break out yesterday afternoon. in an empty lot. it was on the expressway. winds up to 30 miles per hour whipped the flames along. >> we could see the trees on fire. we walked more and it jumped to the palm trees. though incinerated. it was so dry.

from there, you can see how far it spread. >> the capitol express was was closed for nearly five hours yesterday. there were no injuries reported but memorial day weekend bit was affected. >> in downtown oakland police arrested four and cited 19 others on the second straight night of demonstrations. they are defying a new crackdown from mayor schaaf on nighttime street protests requiring demonstrators to stay on the sidewalks. police say they had to use force twice last night and estimated the crowd to be 100-150 strong. >> this is after police arrested five people and cited nearly 50 in a protest on saturday night. 100 demonstrators matched down broadway from the plaza but they were blocked by police who ordered them to disperse. some of the group sat down in the road in defiance. demonstrators the mayor has no right to keep protesters off the streets. civil rights attorney vows to fight the new enforcement

>> covering cupertino, conquer wine country and all the bay area, this is abc7 news. >> an east bay park is closed for several days because of toxins in the water. the regional recreational area in fremont is closed to swimming through wednesday. we park officials say it is because of a toxic blue green algae bloom that causes irritations and other symptoms. other parts of the park are still open. >> crews and volunteers are out along the beaches this morning scooping up thick oil and trying to save the lives of animals covered in the goo. a pipeline ruptured off the
