live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> at the ceremony in the presidio and the observances across the bay area we stop to remember the brave american men and women in uniform killed in the line of duty. >> thanks for joining us. >> another observance is underway right new in mill valley complete with pancake breakfast, marching band and a flag listen raising ceremony. but, also the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. we are in mill valley. >> the people are lining the streets. families are out with their american flags. the parade is just started in mill valley.

we have seen police officers on horseback, different schools going law bands and local organizations all taking part to honor the men and women who died presenting others. >> the smell of sausage and eggs filled the downtown streets of mill valley. memorial day events begin with the traditional firefighter's pancake breakfast. >> we have five guys flipping pancakes three cooking sausages, another three scrambling eggs. >> volunteer firefighter said the donations help the department and are used to maintain the aging 1924 engine. he said they expect to serve 2,000 meals today. >> we are approving, if this is a disaster or emergency where we had to feed a lot of people we are proving we can pull it off. >> rachel always comes each year an opportunity to teach their kids about sacrifices made by their own relatives. >> my great uncle was a purple

and thanksgiving. they will serve 4,000 meals today. >> a memorial ceremony at san francisco's presidio commemorates two important events: the 50th anniversary of american troops in vietnam and the 70th anniversary of the end of world war ii. you can see the american flags placed on the graves over the weekend by the boy and girl scouts. today this is a fly over by the coast guard. >> another memorial day tradition as the ceremony at arlington national cemetery. president obama laid a wreath at the tomb the unknown. later he talked of the sacrifices so many americans have made for their country. the president said that he is honored to spend the day with the loved ones of those brave men and women. there are still several memorial day events that have not started. we have a list at abc7news.com. scary moms for par -- passengers and crew on a flight

from new york to paris. two american fighter jets escorted the plane to john f. kennedy in new york. it was not considered credible but the hoax was one of several unconfirmed threats to a number of different planes heading to different airports. the air france jet landed safely and was looked down while the threat was investigated. >> more legal problems today for former san francisco 49ers defensive lineman ray mcdonald now facing new charges of domestic violence and childen dangerment. police arrested him a few hours ago in san jose. the alleged incidents took place in santa clara. few details are released at this time. you will recall he was arrested back in august on suspicion of domestic violence. the prosecutors said they had "insufficient evidence," to charge him. he signed a one career contract with the bears after being released by the 49ers in december. >> the san mateo bridge is open again to traffic this morning following a second weekend

closure. the eastbound lanes opened shortly after 3:00 a.m. and the westbound lane re-opened at 5:00 a.m. caltrain closed the bridge to perform critical upgrades to extend its life by 50 years. >> overnight stand off between oakland police and a murder suspect ended with police walking away empty handed. officers uncovered a large marijuana grow inside the home. they thought the man was hiding in the home near 99th avenue. the man killed one person and wounded another yesterday evening. the wounded victim is expected to survive. >> more severe storms are aimed at the midsection today. the rain comes as telephone people are missing following flash flooding that damaged hundreds of homes in central texas. matt keller has more on the dangerous weather. >> my god. oh, my god. >> devastating floods across texas and oklahoma leaving

have sunshine and that is the case this afternoon but for the coast the temperatures are 55 to 74 inland. talking about the warmer weather coming up. >> the federal government is recalling more than 200,000 pounds of meat from a san jose-based deli. the company has been repackaging products without an inspection and selling them with unauthorized inspection labels. the recall affects 213,000 pounds of chicken, beef and park. no one has reported getting sick. we have a list on abc7news.com. you can return the meat for a full refund. >> tonight warriors fans are stopping everything hoping to watch their team sweep the houston rockets in the first game of the finals. if they win, it will be the first time since 1975 amy amy hollyfield is on warriors watch. >> this is exciting. >> it is. >> whether we sweep at home or

>> a virginia man is in custody after police in washington, dc destroyed a pressure cooker found in his car which was parked near the cap tom -- capitol building which was identified as items of concern inside the car and the bomb squad was called in. you will remember that two pressure cooker devices were used in the attack on the boston marathon. a sobering admission from the chairman of the house armed services committee concerning the terrorist group isis and nuclear weapons. the congressman from texas said jihadist group and i quote, "would of course use a nuclear weapon if given a chance." there is no evidence they have tried to get such a weapon but

isis is claiming it has the resources to acquire a nuclear weapon from pakistan with in a year. >> a sea lion sent to seaworld in san diego because of the oil spill has died. folks say three other sea lions covered with oil continue to be treated. seaworld rescued two elephant seals. this is brought in over the weekend. if you look closely you can see the dark oil on his face and body. his condition needs to be stabilized before he can be cleaned. >> it is hard on them, too. a lot of us will talk about it and we will start getting teary upped having the conversion with each other. >> the second elephant seal is now in recovery following a success. cleaning. >> meteorologist mike nicco is ahead with the forecast. >> also ahead, mission aborted. on purpose. spacex launched a rocket only

>> a nasa astronaut is sharing pictures of something most of us will never get to see with our eyes on the international space station. the astronaut took this shot of our galaxy. he tweeted it out overnight. it is getting a lot of tax online and is quickly going viral. >> new video from spacex show

as safety feature to get astronauts out of harp's way if there is a launch pad emergency. this is video from a test drone early this month that shows the dragon rocket blasting off and accelerating from 0 to 100 miles per hour in 1.2 seconds. the parachutes deploy and the dragon drifts smoothly to the ocean. spacex hopes to launch nasa astronauts into orbit by 2016. >> so interesting to see that happening and being developed. >> meteorologist mike nicco is outside. you had the umbrella out a minute ago? >> it is misty right new the drizzle is lightening up, but the closer you are to the coast, and toward the east bay hills at emeryville, this could be a little bit of drizzle this. the reason is they have a stout sea breeze. check out our winds, they are

picking up at 22 in pearland and oakland and san carlos 14 and napa at 14. that is pushing the clouds through our neighborhood and the winds will continue to pick up if you are headed out with the poets leaving sausalito. a small craft advisory east of the golden gate bridge and north of the bay bridge and winds at 21 to 33 knots starting 59 noon through 9:00 this evening. look at the homes developing in our cloud cover especially over the land. you can look at the coast and see swirls keeping the sea breeze going if not keeping the clouds banked up deference the coast. you will open up to sunshine but with the wind you can also still have some intermittent drizzle in the afternoon at coast into san francisco. walnut creek is an area with sunshine and going to be one of the warmer areas. just now the clouds are opening up just a little bit in san jose but look at our temperatures: they have not responded but for in brentwood at 67, livermore in 61 and los gatos in 67 and

concord at 62 and see the warming around mountain view at 63 and san carlos at 61. you can see looking right into the teeth of that sea breeze from emeryville how gray it still is across most of the bay. sunshine and cool breeze with crowds rolling into the neighborhood and drizzle possible tomorrow morning. we will see some warming by the weekend. temperatures are near if not above average. upper 60s to low 70s in the south bay and mid-to-upper 60s on the peninsula and we will have mid-to-upper 50s along the coast, and 60 downtown south san francisco and sausalito. upper 60s and a few 70s through the north bay and low-to-mid 60s for most of the east bay shoreline and castro valley and union city and fremont, more sunshine and upper 60 and same in the san ramon valley and low-to-mid 70s for the rest of our inland east bay neighborhood. fur going to the game this afternoon we are going to see sunshine and low 60 with the u.v. index high. be careful when you go there.
