took a nice little blow to the head. >> reporter: steph curry took this fall in monday's game with no injury. the concussion policy says the player must be symptom-free before returning to the court. >> if you saw the knee hit his head, it was with such force. >> reporter: dr. james betz watched the injury on tv. he's a trauma surgeon at oakland's children's hospital. every concussion is unique and so is recovery. >> it may take hours or weeks or days. but that's where sequential re-examination by experts and believe me all of these professional teams have experts, will then determine whether or not someone is ready. >> what? >> so day to day. >> reporter: news of the concussion reached the fan store at oracle. >> if's a big blow but we've got a week left. so hopefully, he'll be back. he can't have the splash brothers with just one brother. >> would like to have thompson

in. but i don't think that's going to stop us from winning. >> reporter: fans are sending this message to klay. >> hurry back, we need you. >> reporter: abc 7 news. the policy requires a player to pass a series of tests. if the player experiences any concussion symptoms along the way, they have to go back to the previous stage and start over. the protocol also requires the team physician to discuss the process with the director of the nba's concussion program before clearing a player to return. hopeful fans in campbell are racing to snag any warriors gear they can find. abc 7 news was there to see them smaching up the hottest items. hats or anything that says western conference champions. you can't blame the fans for warriors mania. their team hasn't been to the finals since 1975.

and authorities are also out there looking for counterfeit gear that isn't licensed by the nba. >> keep in mind abc 7 is the only place can you see the warriors in the finals. game one is thursday, game two is the following sunday also at home. games three and four will be in cleveland. game five would be back at oracle if necessary. now to breaking news tonight out of newark. police are outside an apartment building where a man has barricaded himself inside with an infant. it began on sycamore street near thornton avenue. lyanne melendez is live and has been gathering the latest information for us. >> reporter: you should also know that s.w.a.t. teams are also on the scene, but it's really the newark police department doing all the negotiations with this person with this man. as you indicate. the suspect is inside that apartment with his baby. the child, we're told has not been harmed. so that's very good news.

now the negotiators are trying to peacefully resolve the situation and try to persuade him to surrender. at one point, it looked as if they were very close, and then something changed. and then it went back to the negotiations all over again. the suspect, we are told has been involved in several domestic violence incidents. and right now, people neighbors have been told to shelter in place. we don't know who else is in that apartment. we don't know if he has a weapon, a gun. we don't know that yet. they haven't told us. but, again neighbors are told to stay put. and, also behind me, neighbors are being told that they can't go through this area, past these, this sort of barricade if you will. one neighbor told me that she was in the process of moving this morning.

she went, went to get a truck when all of this started happening. she has not been able to return to her home to continue moving. now others, again, are walking here and finding out that they can't get to their homes. so again, the police here in newark very concerned about this. and they want to resolve this as peacefully and quickly as possible. we'll have the latest from newark lyanne melendez, abc 7 news. a construction worker is recovering after a frightening fall inside san francisco's museum of modern art. he is now in stable condition. the museum has been closed since last june while it undergoes major renovations. police need your help finding a person who pick pocketed a wheel-chair bound

woman. it happened on the five fulton line. onboard security cameras caught these images. the thief lifted the victim's credit cards and started charging on them right away. >> as see was canceling the card, the suspect already used the card. so he works really, really fast. >> police haven't located other potential victims, but they do believe this man has done it before on muni. only on abc 7 news. residents are telling a judge why they are angry that they were not notified before a sexually violent prid toredator moved into the neighborhood. they want him out. >> reporter: those residents finally got their day in court in martinez. charles chrisman has lived down this driveway since january, we understand, without incident. his attorney says his age and stage of life he's no threat. but residents here still want

him out. for the first time we're hearing directly from liberty health care about why they think a walnut creek neighborhood is the right place for charles chrisman. >> we drive around, check the areas and make sure we don't see any children or anything that is not easily identifiable, like schools or parks. >> reporter: jessica's law specifies chrisman cannot be within 2,000 feet of a school, park or lace where children congregate but says nothing about how many kids might live close by. something that upsets residents like kelly dosa. the regularsidents and the d.a. want him moved. >> he's on 24/7 observation with that gps. people are paying attention if he's going anywhere.

but he's not going anywhere by himself. and i really think these children are safe, and i hope they can go and live their lives. >> i don't envy liberty for the job they have to do. but just because it's the only place they found doesn't mean it's the right place. >> reporter: the judge is expected to rule on whether chrisman can stay in this house in the next two weeks. laura anthony, abc 7 news. a man accused of holding people hostage in antioch this week now faces 16 charges and had his bail set at nearly $5 million today. investigators say more ratio gutierrez held people hostage inside a gas station wednesday. he ultimately released the hostages and surrendered. sky 7 shows him being dragged to an open area and arrested. he was charged with false imprisonment carjacking and several other crimes. the san francisco man to reit'sre --

who created the online drug site silk road was arrested. he was arrested in a branch library where he was chatting online with a cooperating witness. lawyers say i deserved a lighter sentence because he is a changed man. new rules could make it harder to water lawns on new construction in california. today state regulators voted to limit how much water can be used. any developments including homes, schooling, and hospitals proposed after june must follow these new rules. it is in response, of course to the governor's executive order to save water around the state. water concervix is certainly on the minds of many, but what if you don't have a water meter or walter bill? one homeowners association is tackling that issue. we're explaining exactly how. >> reporter: ross moore residents never get a water bill

because the hoa covers it. they are taking action. they say green grass will be a thing of the past, and it will look more like this. ross moore is known for landscaping and lush greens, but landscapers are now coming in and changing things up. >> we're going to take all this grass out and change it with rocks and drought-tolerant plants. >> reporter: it deals with the fact that individual water usage can't be tracked and there is too much to be watered out here. >> this area, the fairways, has three or four, i believe it's four meters for the whole area. and that covers the landscaping and all of the personal home usage. >> and so the 18 presidents have been finding ways to preserve water. grass is being spray painted or replaced with fake grass. residents say they're accepting the new reality.

unmanned aircraft crashed at a private airstrip east of albuquerque shortly after takeoff on may 1. no one was hurt. the national transportation safety board is investigating. a new concept from google takes wearable tech to a new level. they have teamed up with levis to work on a new clothing line that essentially transforms your clothes into a touch pad. this is video released by google showing how it works. it uses the conductive textile that connects your smartphone or tablet. google says the line of smart clothing can enable you to swipe away on your device without having to touch or speak to it. >> that is bizarre. hundreds of oakland school kids were treated to a day on the bay that came with an important lesson about their city. abc 7 news was there when they boarded the uss potomac when they boarded to see how it functions. the potomac used to be official

we'll keep it warm inland for your saturday. but low in the cold front come through on sunday, and it will cool off and then, was we head toward monday, we may even see some drops. so sunday night you'll see cloud cover on the increase, as we head toward monday morning's commute, it might be a little slow going. drizzle or light showers will develop. so keep that in mind. and then for your monday afternoon, lingering cloud court as we head down to the pacific, i want to show you what has formed. it's the first hurricane of the season, hurricane andreas, category 1. it is expected to strength and little bit more before it weakens to a tropical storm wednesday morning. right now, no threat to any of the resorts along the mexican coast. we'll keep you posted in case things change. tomorrow morning, your early plans, a little cool. you will see some fog around. so i would recommend a sweater or a jacket for the early morning hours.

for the afternoon, you can pretty much go with short sleeves in the south bay. look at these numbers. 84 in gilroy 75 sunnyvale. occasional clouds in the peninsula. on the coast, 60 pacifica. daley city, 59 degrees. in the north bay, cloud cover, a little heavier. 77 in santa rosa, 75 napa. east bay, 65 in oakland. make sure you have your sunscreen. 83 in fair field, 82 in livermore with plenty of sun. and if you're heading to bottle rock. mild sunshine on saturday. a slight dip in the temperatures. there's so much going on the san jose greek festival this weekend and the weather will be quite mild. mild to warm tomorrow, cools a little sunday and then it gets damp monday morning with the cooling trend continuing, but the temperatures will recover middle to latter part of the workweek. ama and dan?
