oh, my gosh. laura, thank you. >> all right. for oakland residents this really is the time for their city to shine. carolyn tyler is live at lake merit with the pride that extends all of the way to the u.s. capitol. carolyn? >> reporter: that's right. lake merit is one of oakland's crown jewels. across the way today i saw a huge contingent from espn and the city is hoping for positive coverage with all eyes on oakland. >> we'll have it on tomorrow. >> reporter: jackie bradley just bought a t-shirt from a corner vendor to show her support for the warriors and her oakland pride. the city is wearing its blue and gold. at emerret and jones barbecue, even the drinks are color coordinated. >> this is what you order when you're a warriors fan. >> with the media presence in town for the nba finals oakland is hoping for a chance to shine in the stories that will be covered off the court. >> i would like to see some focus on the fact that it's such a diverse and vibrant community.

>> reporter: at oaklandic the retailer that sells all things oakland there may be some publicity from the bet congresswoman barbara lee has made with an ohio counterpart. it includes an oaklandish tote bag and hopefully no payoff and at the landon street brewery they learned that senator barbara boxer has made a friendly bet with their oakland-style beer. >> all of these reporters should be seeing the great support that the community is giving to not just the warriors, but the local businesses. >> the mayor says she hopes the cameras will capture images of the majestic cranes along the waterfront and lake merit which now has banners of the warriors on light poles. >> i feel there is such a buzz and glow about the city that more people need to see it. >> reporter: and perhaps during the nba finals they will. in oakland, carolyn tyler, abc 7 news. well, it wasn't all serious

game talk at today's media day. coming up in about ten minutes we'll take a look at two of the funnier moments that happened and it includes jimmy kimmel's sidekick guillermo and curry's daughter, the adorable riley. abc 7 is the only place where you can see the warriors in the finals and game one will be at oracle arena tomorrow night at 6:00. game two is at 5:00 on sunday also in oakland followed by game three and four next tuesday and thursday in cleveland. and on to other news of the day several police pursuits in san francisco are raising a lot of concern about the safety of innocent people in the way. the most recent incident happened less than 24 hours ago after a suspected robber took off in a car and hit a pedestrian. vic lee joins us with more, vic? >> reporter: san francisco police are still looking for the driver of that car and the car they were chasing last night. now today with all these recent police chases, the chief reiterated just exactly what his

department's policy is. >> reporter: there have been three police pursuits in three months in san francisco. the one last night starting here at 8th and mission. the car one that was reported to be used in the robbery struck a pedestrian as it sped away. raymond's chase friend was the one that was hit. on monday a police chase from the bay view ended here at 5th and mission when the driver, an attempted murder suspect rammed his car into two cars injuring the drivers. fortunately, not seriously. the chief says police recovered a gun in his car. >> so we don't know what that violent felon might have been or who might have been seriously injured. >> reporter: in april clinton administrationet check administrationet, they were running from police that night.

the chief says his department has, in his word, a very restrictive pursuit policy. >> unless they're a violent felon, we don't chase them. >> ask both of the previous car pursuits police say they were chasing violent felons in the fatal incident in april. the three suspects were armed and dangerous. >> we got the guys responsible in custody and responsible for a robbery armed robbery spree. >> in last night's pursuit the chase did not start until the officer turned his car lights on the car. >> they struck a pedestrian almost as soon as they just fled the lights and siren and then it became a pursuit because now they've struck somebody in a cross walk. >> now the person who was hit last night who has not been identified was listed with life-threatening injury but we have since learned that his condition has been upgraded to serious but stable. good news. vic lee abc 7 news. >> all right. thank you, vic. san francisco police are cracking down on dangerous drivers. abc 7 news was at greene as officers teamed up with the chp

for pedestrian decoy operation and the focus was on some of the main factors and accidents including using a cell phone and not yielding to pedestrians. it was one of two driver crackdowns in san francisco the other was in the embarcadero. >> two berkeley police officers are recovering after being injured in an altercation in a bank. officers were called for a customer refuseing to leave the bank at 10:30. the officers got in a fight with the man when they tried to arrest him. the suspect was taken into custody. peter pleaded not guilty to stealing a bmw and driving it through the window. he tried to steal one but couldn't get it out the door and then he drove the second car through the showroom window and he crashed that car in mason and geary streets. police responded to a domestic

violence call two hours after the initial burglary. his bail is set at $290,000. this is the time when people are getting off work and taking dogs for a walk. residents are avoiding one particular trail because of a warning that someone may be leaving out poison to sing the dogs. abc 7 news reporter david louie is live at the creek trail. david? >> reporter: well although no confirmed case of a dog poisoning has been confirmed yet, animal care agency is taking it very seriously. they've turned in a sample of the suspected food right where it was left on that trail. >> the word has been spreading quickly on social media after a resident posted a warning to animal love eros willow glen. they've not yet verified whether a dog has been poisoned and a substance, possibly cat food laced with something toxics has been obtained for analysis. dog walkers are concerned.

>> how popular is this trail for walking dogs? >> very. a lot of people use it. mostly they have a section from willow to minnesota is very popular. >> it may take a week or longer for the lab test results. san jose police and park rangers have been notified about the incident. the best advice is for dog walkers to be vigilant. >> if you're walking on the trail you don't want your dog to randomly eat any substance on the ground because you don't really know what that substance could be. it could potentially be toxic or harmful to your animals. >> as much as people enjoy walking their dogs on the three creeks trail. some people say they will avoid it for a while. >> we either would avoid the trail or be sure that the dogs are always unleashed. >> i think for the next few days i would avoid the trail. >> nearby animal clinics tell us they haven't treated any dogs for suspected poisoning. in san jose, david louie abc 7 news. >> one man jumped from a bedroom

wind owe and a woman had to be rescued from an apartment. fortunately no one was seriously injured but several residents have been displaced. lyanne melendez has that story. lyanne? it feels so very, very dark in here and they'll be send -- the fire started all of the way back there and i hope you can see it and quickly spread through this corridor through this hallway. this is another apartment here right now and damage, as you can see a lot of damage. you can see why people felt so trapped. >> lorne said he had enough time to put on his pants before jumping out the bedroom window to escape the fire. >> how did you land because you have a humongous bruise? >> i land on this on. >> reporter: on your knee.

>> he landed on his hands and knees hitting his face on the pavement. >> i smelled it first and went out. people were yelling "fire." i started pounding on doors. >> greg brown shared these pictures with us and it shows firefighters trying to contain the blaze. >> i was actually trapped in our apartment. >> patricia said the fire spread so quickly there was little time to react. she was later taken to the hospital to be checked. one neighbor had to be rescued from a balcony because the stairwell was full of smoke and flames and this dog was alone in the house when firefighters found it. its owner was at work. his apartment was the only one completely destroyed while the others were somewhat affected. >> the other units and depending on the building infrastructure and the gas and everything like that, they'll be occupiable within a day or two. >> he was escorted inside his unit to retrieve valuables a chain smoker and he went for his cigarettes. that wasn't the only thing he

want to take time to read dealing with the sudden loss of a loved one. cheryl sandberg posted a heartbreaking essay on her facebook page confessing the personal pain that she and her family tried to move ahead after her husband of 11 years died while on vacation. sandberg's post ends the traditional 30-day of mourning in judaism. her husband died of head trauma last month after falling from a treadmill at a hotel gym in mexico. sandberg write, this is why i'm writing to mark the end of shimoshym. i have lived 30 years in these 30 days. i am 30 years' sadder and i feel like i'm 30 years' wiser. she continue i have learned that i never really learned what to say to others in need. real empathy is sometimes not insisting that it will be okay, but acknowledging that it is not. sandberg writes that despite it all she has learned from this anguish.

videos are high-definition versus less than 2,000 for amazon prime. as for convenience, most tvs, consumers reports tefrts and recommends come with both apps already installed. however, some of the less expensive tvs tend to come only netflix ready. and netflix has some popular original series like orange is the new black and house of cards. amazon has some original programming, too. and also offers free music streaming of more than 1 million songs and free two-day shipping on amazon purchases. >> overall if you're most interested in high-definition movies and tv netflix is the way to go. on the other hand, if you are okay with standard definition, but like the idea of a greater selection, not to mention all of the free shipping, amazon prime is probably your best bet. >> reporter: but all things considered the two are pretty equal and cost about the same. $96 a year for the netflix

not expecting them to head in our direction. it is pretty breeze ney spots and gusting to 29 miles an hour in fairfield and out of the southwest and 28 at sfo. they are seeing some delays at sfo on arriving flights because of the low ceilings. from the mount tam cam maybe you'll get a glimpse of blue there. oakland is at 60 degrees and san jose at 54 and 58 at half moon bay and it's socked in as you look at the golden gate bridge cam and mid-70s around santa rosa and it did get to 81 in santa rosa and cooling down quickly as what you're looking at from the emoriville camera started rolling in and those clouds, cloudy tonight and morning drizzle and we're looking at warming up this weekend with 90 degrees inland early next week and the satellite picture shows you the trough that is bringing us the clouds and a weak disturbance is what will be responsible for squeezing out drizzle and during

the late-night hours and spotty drizzle for your morning commute which means it might slow you down a little bit allow that extra time and the clouds will linger for the afternoon hours. to our north isolated thunderstorms are possible and primarily over the hills in sonoma and mendocino countes as that disturbance goes through and just keep that in mind. we have more than disturbances in the pacific and one is a major hurricane blanca, category 4 and we have tropical storm andres. andres is expected to weaken. blanca is expected to strength tone a category 5 and that's the highest it can go on the scale, as you know. it's remaining parallel to the west coast of mexico but is expected to weaken to a category 1 by sunday night as it nears cabo san lucas and expected to make landfall north of there monday morning as the category 1 with swells and heavy rain expected with that system. dry conditions for southern california and none of that moisture will head into that area. tomorrow morning not dry.

beach. according to authority, the victim a 20-year-old from concord had been drinking and was combative with rescuers after officers pulled him up they landed the chopper on the beach, arrested him and then took him to the hospital. >> he's lucky they got there to help him out. >> high school students are go to receive real job skills. they're going to take part in the summer program. they'll spend eight weeks in a paid position with a local high-tech firm. that program is the brainchild of greg kerr and part of mayor ed lee's summer job initiative and that finds a job for 7,000 san francisco teenagers and back to the warriors as they prepare for tonight's game one. his daughter riley is helping him tighten up his game. >> she's breaking down film with me.
