1-800-448-1433) >> good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday june 7th. let's start with a quick look at the weather with meteorologist lisa argen. >> good morning. we have fog at the coast. it hasn't reached inland, though. today we will start a pretty big warmup around the bay. right now temperatures in the mid-50s. 57 san carlos, 53 morgan hill. we are looking at the fog to be situated once again at the shoreline. it will fill in throughout the day. but, boy temperatures will run the gamut today from the 60s at the coast to the lower 90s inland.

in fact, that's not the end of it. tomorrow peak heat with a heat advisory in effect today. low 70s san francisco. mid-80s in the santa clara valley. question will detail it and talk about how long the heat will last coming up. >> lisa, thank you. this morning investigators are looking at the details of a small crash with four people on board in morgan hill. it's a story you will see only on abc7 news. the plane went down last night just after 11:00 barely missing powerlines t ended up blocking a southbound lane at cochrin road. the co-pilot said he and three others were flying back from a dinner at harris ranch. >> it also started to sputter out. killed the engine. went to turn it back over. it coughed for about ten seconds and completely died. so we went to emergency procedures. decide highway 10 is right here is best bet.

so we decided to make the best out of the worst-possible situation. >> everyone on board walked away safely. the co-pilot said despite the circumstances, it was one of the smoothest landings he's ever been part of. a watsonville police officer is recovering this morning after being shot in the stomach by a man who in turn, was killed by police. authorities say the man began running when he was approached by officers near his home. he ran to on to a levy of a river, firing at officers. >> we saw a police car came in speeding all the way up to the top of the river. then i saw a policeman coming. he was wounded or something. he was doing this. he went inside the police car and took off. speeding i guess to the hospital then all the cops, all different police agencies started coming from the highway from everywhere. >> the man's name has not been released. authorities say he was

well-known to police. this is the first time a watsonville police officer has been wounded in line of duty since 1998. a deadly police shooting in oakland was captured on video by a by hander. this case involves an unresponse i have pan behind the wheel of a stalled car and a loaded gun in the passenger's seat. a bp c7 news reporter katie has the story. >> it was a bad scene. >> pushed back from the intersection of lakeshore and lake avenue. a former's market vender recorded a policeman trying to wake a man in this bmw. >> the person was unresponsive, but next to the person was a pistol so they called opd. >> open the window, put your hands outside of the window and get out of the car and i think they said that a couple of times. at least twice, maybe three times. >> bean bags shot against the car didn't weak him either so

they used a metal pipe to break through the passenger's side window. this took about an hour. >> the person at this point was awake. a confrontation ensued with theoser and the person. one officer deployed a taser one officer deployed a firearm. >> police have not released the man's identity, only saying he was pronounced dead at the hyland hospital. they did share photos of the gun in the front seat. >> it is a chrome pistol, and it had in it a loaded 30-round nationzine. >> investigators with homicide, internal affairs and the almeda county district attorney' officer reviewing video from more than a dozen officer body cameras and the gas station cameras near the shooting. abc7 news. teenagers gathered yesterday at the site where a classmate died in cloverdale. the highway patrol believes she was watching an illegal street race friday night.

one of the cars apparently hit her while she sat on a guardrail, sending her body flying toward the russian river below. kids say it is a proper spot for street racing. the body was not found until yesterday morning. no arrests have been maidism byron highway is open after a fatal crash killing two people and injuring at least two others in contra costa county yesterday morning. a pickup truck broadcast sided a ford flex that was making a turn. both vehicles overturned. two children were rushed to okayed land children's hospital. san jose police have arrested a bouncer accused in the death of a club-goer back in march. he is charged with involuntary manslaughter. he and the victim got into an argument who was working at myth tavern and lodge. officers say he punched the victim, knocking him to the

ground. friends drove him to the hospital where he died. in sacramento county check out this video. captured last night when a lightning strike set two palm streets on fire in antelope, starting a house fire. this video was taken by the metropolitan fire district. crews contained the fire rather quickly. the red cross is now helping the family. no one was injured. it took nearly 40 years, but horseracing finally has another triple crown winner. american pharoah trounced the field at belmont stakes, putting him in the top echelon of one of the greatest racehorses ever. elizabeth herr reports. >> excited. this is all for you! [cheers and applause] >> american pharoah called the ones in a lifetime horse now in the record books as the twelfth horse in history to win the triple crown. the 147th belmont stakes took off with the fans roaring and

>> he was kind of defeated by it a little bit, i think. i told him that no, we can't not do the race because we don't have bikes. we will figure something out. >> when we first talk with chad he was refitting riding shoes. that's because when he checked in the announcer told the crowd what happened so several other racers offered to help. peggy had been in the triathlon ten times and owned a spare bike. >> they said this guy is raising money for cancer and going his bikes got stolen. and i lost my sister-in-law to cancer this year. >> as part of his trip here he raised thousands of dollars to help battle prostate cancer. he's determined not to let the bike theft derail his plan. >> we are this far into it so we aren't giving up. we are still going to race and not let it hold us back. >> thanks to the generosity of other racer, they can mark this race off their bucket list. a about. c7 news. and no june gloom for those riders today. >> no.

damaged by an oil spill at risk again. the plan will move oil by truck through the same area where a pipeline burst off the santa barbara county coast. that was last month. exxon and other companies are trying to keep their product flowing, but no one knows when the pipe is going to be fixed. the plan to move the oil in tanker trucks amounts to about 1300 truck trips a week. the environmental defense center says the companies should wait. >> this is a temporary shut down. we think the safest thing to do is just to wait until the pipeline is fixed because trucking will only exacerbate the problems. >> the county is set to make a decision as early as this week. the oil spill covered nearly 10 square miles. this weekend volunteers from faith-based groups are joining habitat habitat for humanity in

an east bay party blitz. yesterday there was a four-home build in martinez and the anonymous donor has given $150,000 to bring habitat together with people of different religions to bring affordable homes for working families. for one volunteer it's the chance of a lifetime. >> this is going to be our own house. it's so exciting. it's like a dream come true for us. and my kids are really happy. >> habitat for humanity said the volunteers accomplish in one single day what it takes a construction crew a month. 20 homes are being built,sen of them will be framed during this four-day event. the total cost of the development is $7 million. we all know the warrors and the cavaliers are battling for the nba title. off the court another competition is taking place this morning. a group of bay area volunteers is challenging a charity from cleveland.

we've seen all year long. well we'll save that until tomorrow. but today big time warmup. if you were by the coast just a couple miles from the shoreline, you will be heating up today. plenty of 80s and 90s in the inland valleys and even san francisco into the 70s. live doppler 7hd while we do have fog it's hard to make it out here. it will stay with us. it will be compressed to about 500 feet throughout the day day. we won't get rid of it all together but we will have partial sunshine at the coast. the weak hurricane, this is blanca, this is a category four. it's getting sheared apart. the winds are 105 miles per hour and it's moving to the northwest at 12 into the cooler waters. some of the moisture is forecasted to move up into parts of southern california, maybe can't clara valley by tuesday. so here's the track. today and tomorrow. it pulls up into cab go, spreading anywhere from half a foot of rain and then into tuesday you see it's already

into the southwestern portion of the u.s. so we could see maybe an isolated shower in the south bay. we will have to fine-tune that as the days get closer. but otherwise we are talking about our mini heat wave arriving. in fact, getting going today. from the east bay hills camera atop vollmer peak, mt. diablo. 5 about morgan hill. half moon bay at 55. and it will be partly cloudy at the coast today and tomorrow and only in the 60s. if you are looking for heat relief, you will find it at the shoreline. the exploratorium camera, 54 petaluma, 56 concord. clear in the east bay valleys. from mt. tam right now 1500-foot marine layer and that will continue to burn back quickly throughout the morning hours. so coastal fog clear inland. much warmer today. as much as 8 to maybe 12 degrees warmer in some shots. heat advisory in effect for tomorrow. here's i whether or not. app had sits off the coast.

it will begin to nudge in just a little bit into the eastern pacific. as it does, that brings the warmth over the golden state. but we won't look for an offshore flow. that means we had still have the temperatures in the 60s and some of the patchy fog. but the weather service has issued a heat advisory tomorrow for the widespread 90s, maybe 100 degrees toward livermore. highlighted areas, that's where some folks could perhaps have a few problems. most likely they have issued this because we haven't seen this kind of heat in such a long time. so it's a pretty much day, day of that event. then we will begin to see some cooling. 86 today in san jose. a big warmup for you. 84 in sunnyvale. how about 81 redwood city? a little sun there half moon bay. san francisco sunny at 72. in the north bay check it out. not far off into the north of santa rosa you've got plenty of

mt. tam, you will be last to clear, but it will be sunny, and at the beach much cooler. so coastal fog clear inland much, much warmer today. plenty of 80s and 90s. south bay, north bay. we will look for the heat advisory tomorrow. that means temperatures coming up another 5 to 8 degrees putting some of our inland valleys close to 100 degrees. as we go through the rest of the morning hours, the fog, it will continue to compress. it will be situated at the coast. it will be a couple hundred feet deep. we will have the cloudy skies at the coast. but the city will be sunny and it will be in the 70s. you don't have to go far from the shore loin to -- the shoreline to get the mold air. tomorrow as the high continues to building it will be warmer and 80s in oakland but quickly the heat erodes. the area of low pressure will
