interestingly, pg&e said it was not caused by the heat, a squirrel came in contact with electrical equipment, with the sub station, causing this power outa age, a squirrel. >> the majority of east bay customers lost power from berkeley to richmond cars drifted slowly through sdrekzs of downtown berkeley where people walked in the dark. the back up generators at safeway turned on around 8:00 when the power went off the b.a.r.t. station shut down forcing passengers to use bus bridges to get to the next station. elevator rescues were taking place and graduation ceremonies relied on aye--- relied on i-phone to see on stage. >> it was kind of ragged. >> most of the uc berkeley
