on fire. people started calling 9-1-1 around 11:30 to report something burning and an explosion at the chevrolet dealership on redwood city boulevard. firefighters got there and found four cars on fire. amy hollyfield is at the scene with a report at 5:30. >> pg&e crews are still working to restore power to hundreds of south bay customer whose have been without electricity since we hit record high temperatures yesterday. our reporter is in gilroy with the hottest spot in the bay area. matt? >> 55 years since we saw temperatures this high and thousands were in the dark. check out this tweet in the national weather service explain how hot it is: 109 in gilroy is a record for today but the hottest temperature so early in the season birdly beating 108 on june 3 1960. here is video from last night

showing the power outage creating a blackout in san jose, with the sunsetting and 12,000 customers lost power in san jose and gilroy and by 10:00 3500 were without power. here is a look at the map showing san jose with 829 customers without power and that number went up in the past half hour and in gilroy 505 customers have no power and a couple of trucks in the neighborhood and pg&e is estimating that they will have power back on in gilroy by 8:00 this morning. >> it was not automatic bad hundreds flocked to water world to beat the heat with the park opened each day. if you are saying it looks like a waste of water officials have made upgrades to reduce waste by 90 percent and have sealed the pools to stop the leaks. you can track the high temperatures with the weather app free from the app for or

caitlyn jenner is facing a second lawsuit four months after being involved in a failing accident in malibu. a woman whose car was hit in the february crash has filed a civil suit in los angeles against the olympian known as bruce jenner the lawsuit exceeds $25,000 for compensatory and punitive damage. jenner is sued for wrong of death by the two adult step children of the woman who died in the crash. >> a study shows the risk of having a child with autism is greater when parents are very young as well as much older. research suggests that the risk of autism increases as parents are older and now, and this is surprising, a study from europe fines the risk is higher when the other is in her teens, when either parent is 40 or older and when there is a gap of more than 10 years between the two parents. the report newspapered by "autism speaks," is published today.

yesterday, and video from our san jose camera last night shows the power outage creating a blackout as the sun is setting. an estimated 12,000 customers lost power in san jose and gilroy and 685 are still in the dark 225 customers are without power in walnut creek and danville. it should be restored by mid-morning. the heat caused big delays for bart commuters. track monitoring electronics overheated when the air conditioning failed. that caused computers to falsely detect trains triggering delays system-wide. frustrated passengers complained of bart cars that did not have working air conditioning. >> weather likely played a relative in the grass fire that break out in russian drove with sky seven over the scene on 880 forcing the c.h.p. to close northbound lanes of 880 to southbound 238 and it was a small fire but check out all of the smoke. firefighters remain on the scene
