stolen car with a loaded-- in a stalled car with a loaded gun. demonstrators say the gathering is about demanding justice. farmers holding water rights told to stop pumping water from state's water ways. officials ordered the cuts today affecting more than 100 owners. the move marks the first significant mandatory cuts to senior water right holders since the last major drought in the late '70s. many say the state has no authority to order cuts. prosecutors say the owners of a nudist resort stole water from a neighbor to keep the parched resort open. prosecutors say they piped water from hendry's creek despite

numerous warnings to stop it. two other resort employees are charged. last year dismantled a hose used to stiven water to fill swimming pool and water tank. goats gone wild. look at this. the berkeley lab posd this video showing a herd of goats released in response to the drought. can you believe this? >> you don't see that every day. >> a stampede. lab employee shot the video. the goats are natural lawn mowers eating 10 pounds of vegetation per day leaving less dry grass that can burn. anybody taking bart to oakland should plan on the trip taking longer. trains are not running between coliseum stations all day saturday. so a bus bridge will carry riders between stations. this is the last in a series of maintenance closures for this

section of track. now next month's closure of doyle drive will start july 9 at 10:00 p.m. and run through the 13th ending at 5:00 a.m. the closure was pushed back because of the holiday weekend. crews will make preparations. san francisco's fishermen's wharf today officials announced a big budget to improve streets in the area. nearly $2 million dedicated to fixing jefferson street. abc 7 news was at fishermen's wharf as city officials talk about the need to make the area safer. >> this is also a place where we want to put our best foot forward. we want people to be safe and enjoy the experience and want to make it a place where our merchants can prosper. >> planners say the project will create more bike lanes for more than 10 million visitors. police departments are

ramping up recruitment efforts. as chris found out more candidates to choose from and more competition. >> working with the community and helping folks especially children. >> reporter: it's a job kirk clark absolutely loves. this lieutenant served santa clara police department for nearly two decades. >> you can walk away and leave a smile on their face and their parents. it makes the job even so much more rewarding. i have seen that time after time. >> reporter: in recent years many police agencies across the bay have seen a decrease in applicants. some say the high cost of living is partly to blame as law enforcement job seekers move to other parts of the state to start their career. over in san jose there is a new push to attract high quality candidates, more specifically women who want to serve. >> i think women think more clearly in crisis situations. i think so. >> reporter: yet in sunnyvale a

vaccinations mandatory are putting pressure on lawmakers to vote against it. david louie looked into both sides of the controversial plan. >> reporter: roughly 30 people at this rally one woman stood out, a sunnyvale mother of two boys. her older son now 6 got very sick at 18 months when he was vaccinated. >> he was having seizures for several days. i was very concerned. he was limp in my arms. i could barely hold him because he was so hot. >> reporter: that experience led to a decision not to vaccinate her younger son. >> i see the benefit in vaccinations and that is why i tried to vaccinate my own child. i would love to continue vaccinating my children but not at this risk. >> reporter: a bill to require vaccinations may be heading as early as next week.

>> a rare sight on capitol hill today. san francisco's house minority leader nancy pelosi went against president obama. congress woman pelosi rejected a key part of the president's ambitious trade package. she and other democrats were not swayed by the last minute rush to the capitol today or his surprise appearance at last night's congressional baseball game. rare desperation from the president who reached across the aisle and aligned himself with house republicans on the deal. that wasn't enough. pelosi says more must be done for america's workers. >> bigger paychecks, better infrastructure, help the american people fulfill the american dream. >> the president and house republicans are asking lawmakers to reconsider next week. secretary of state john kerry is recovering at home tweeting a photo saying feeling good a week after surgery. kerry broke his leg cycling near the french alps in late may and

will be able to travel overseas when necessary. president obama will be back in the bay area next week scheduled to address the mayor's conference next friday in san francisco and democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton is due to arrive in the city the next day for a private fundraiser. don't expect anything sweet to drink at san francisco general hospital. the hospital launched the healthy beverages initiative meaning it will no longer sell or provide sugar sweetened drinks. the new policy extends to gift shops, cafeterias and patient meals. the ban is not just limited to sodas either. >> we think of sugary beverages as sodas. right now it is expanded to flavored waters sports drinks, drinks that have sugar added. >> the announcement came as the hospital celebrated the annual summer festival, one of the core wellness initiatives. there is a reprieve for a movie theater.
