>> live from the kgo tv broadcast center, this is abc7 news. >> it's saturday june 13th. good morning and thanks for joining us, i'm chris nguyen. let's get a first look at the forecast with meteorologist lisa argen tracking live doppler 7hd. >> good morning chris. we have a little built of heat released again along the shoreline. waking up to the low clouds and fog. in fact, at some places it will we've over the bay. temperatures in the mid-50s where you may need your wipe freers time to time, 63 in livermore. pretty mild there. 60 san jose. it quickly pulls back to the coast and some areas around marin county could see more sunshine today around stinson. 60s should do it, upper 60s

in san francisco. 70's across the bay in oakland and look at the 90s once again. over the weekend the trend will be for slightly cooler days in the inland east bay. we will detail that for you and the somewhat warm week ahead. chris. >> we are following a developing story at the accident. it happened around cool 15 last night. you see emergency vehicles around the ride called flight deck. it used to be called top gun n this next video you see how the ride operates. twisting upside down and the riders' feet dangle below them. >> one said he was on the ride and saw what happened. >> somebody drop a cell phone and we were turning and someone

got hit. and -- >> authorities say a park employee did go to the hospital withdrawmatic injuries. a visitor was also taken to the hospital for a hand injury. the park will reopen this morning, but a spokesperson said the ride will remain shut down until all of safety avenues are explored. however, investigators do not think the ride malfunctioned. it's not the first time there's been an accident like this at great america. back in september, 1998 a mexican national was killed at the same coaster that was then called top gun. it climbed over the security offense to get his wife's hat and was kicked in the head by a rider. >> 5:02 is our time. also developing police in dallas, texas have evacuated an area by their headquarters as a standoff continues with a man

who may have opened fire on the building. [gunshots] >> take a look at this. the vehicle described by witnesses as an armored van deliberately rammed the police car before backing up and taking off, starting a police chase. officers say several windows were shot out at headquarters. they also found four suspicious bags one of which was carrying pipe bombs, by led to the evacuation. it led to a jack in the box parking lot where they are trying to talk the man into surrendering. police are looking for as many as three other suspects. nobody was hurt. peacefully overnight hundreds of people demonstrated at the scene of a deadly police shooting. it was just before 11:00 last night. the march end peacefully, but many people still have questions for police.

>> protesters blocked the intersection where 30-year-old demouria hogg was shot and killed by oakland police on june 6th. police say he was asleep or passed out in his bmw. after commands and beanbag shots at the window failed to get him out, police moved in and shattered the lacrosse. >> he turned and leaned over and extended his arm toward the gun on the passenger's seat. >> the attorney for the police officer who fired the two gunshots. >> they said all kinds of things i don't believe. >> and they want to see the body camera video. and steven betz the attorney said he's seen it. >> you can't tell what's going on in the car. >> the officer assigned to have her gun ready to use lethal force, if necessary, had just 18

charged as an adult for masterminding the burglary of his own party's home. the 17-year-old recruited three gang members last month. police say they cut phone lines and stole cell phones and tried to attack two babies and people hiding inside. investigators have made a break in a case arresting a prison employee who may have helped the new york prisoners escaped. >> prison employee joyce mitchell facing a judge, charged with helping these two inmates escape. mitchell who supervised this block in northern new york, smuggled in some kind of contraband playing a role in their ability to break out of

the prison. >> it's one large piece of the puzzle in the attempt to find the two murders. >> they were asked whether she was asking a relationship with one of the two fugitives. and one said the 51-year-old was supposed to pick them up in the getaway vehicle but never showed. possibly leaving them on foot and still hiding out in this area. >> you have to believe they are cold, wet and hungry but that makes them more dangerous and desperate. >> the search intensifies combing the woods near the prison. >> blackhawk helicopters scanning from above and people are told to lock their doors. >> at night when i go to bed i'm scared. i have a gun next to my bed. >> they say there are other prison workers who may have helped the fugitives. joyce mitchell faces the potential of 8 years in prison if convicted. abc news, new york. >> petaluma police are investigating the theft of 15

catalytic converters in the past six days taken from dodge diesel pickups and hyundai sequoia. each theft can cost up to $4,000. most are in the neighborhood near highway 101. the converters contain valuable metal that is sold to recyclers for $150 a piece. the city is cracking down on smartphone thefts. city had 27% fewer phones stolen last year compared to the year before because of the kill switch t disables the phone even if the memory is wiped out making it worthless to thieves. in two weeks the will you requires all smartphones sold in california to have a kill switch. police are relying on security videos to solve crimes more and more these days n two cities police are crediting the cameras for burglary arrests and police in a third city are

hoping it will help them catch a accused murder. >> the charming upscale town of los gatos, pop lays about about 30,000. last year people started a registry called los gatos unwatched, a system where you give help blitz your security cameras. police now know where cameras are and where they are pointed. >> it's solving crime in a timely manner and giving the officers the ability to identify suspects and react on investigative leads in a timely fashion. >> bob owns belgium diamonds. he had one of the first outdoor cameras downtown. his video has been used as evidence by police. >> i think there's a break-in or fight, we are able to provide video, it appears to be inside our scope. >> and thanks to the registry. video of this man in the car led to the arrest of a suspected

thief who stole packages from homes in los gatos n oakland police arrested three people suspected of burglarizing home and business. what cracked the case? the video from the security camera. >> a good description of the suspects, a good picture. >> and a thief was arrested after stealing packages from homes. there was a graphic video of a gas station robbery that went rob. the robbers shooting at the frightened clerk who ran off. investigators hope this video will help catch them. vic lee, abc7 news. >> 5:10, our time. farmers holding the oldest and strongest water rights in california have opinion told to stop pumping water from some waterways t affects more than 100 senior right water holders in the water shed.

east bay hills camera facing mt. diablo. the time right now is approaching 5:15. lisa argen said some parts of the bay area waking up to fog. you may see it outside your window it morning if you are up early, or you should be if you are watching us. we will take a look at the full forecast coming up in a little bits. the sky 7hd was overhead as the warriors arrived in cleveland yesterday at oakland international airport. the team was in a brighter mood following the big game win on thursday. some fans showed up for a fans to catch a glimpse of their heros for sunday's game five. at abc7 we are all about the warriors but in the interest of fairness, there is another team involved. this is the plane landing at sfo just before 6:00 last night getting ready for game five at oregon arena yesterday.

lebron and company drew a good crowd with lots of people taking pictures on their cell phones. turns out there are a few cavs fans living among us. >> the warriors, i believe they have a new player called stephen or stephen curry something like that. >> abc7 news reporter tweeted out-of-players of the pictures as they arrived. lebron james was one of the last players to step off the bus >> some day avenue favorites will rock the national anthem before game five. metallica will sing "oh say can you see" before the game. the bay area fans adopted metallica as their own band.

game 6 is tuesday. it will be the first game where either the warriors or the cavs could clinch the title. they said oracle will be turned into one big watch party. tickets go john sale this afternoon at 2:00. these attending will have a chance to get a commemorative ticket and other items. abc coverage of game 5 in oakland begins sunday at 4:30. game six tuesday in cleveland at 5:30 and a game 7 will be back in oakland next friday at 5:30. our time right now is 5:17. a a sea creature who is using pink inc. is washing ashore in the area. despite it's scary appearance, the creature is farm less. sergio quintana explains. >> this is video shot by an

almeda resident. she didn't know what to make of the purple blobs. >> they were scattered all over the beach. some alive, some dead, some in the sea read. >> it's not unusual for the slugs, called sea heirs to wash ashore. >> they were kind. cool but then i'm thinking what's going on with our water. >> they say it's unusual to see them show up now in the spring and over an extended period of time. >> we've been seeing them wash up since september going you all through the winter and even into the spring. so perhaps it's because of the warmer water? >> they are among the few creatures of who have been mysteriously showing up on land. tuna crabs have also been washing ashore t may be linked to the el nino effect warm temperatures in the pacific

ocean. >> you can participate in science projects and report them if you see them so we can report changes that are happening. >> the sea slugs are purple because they are full of ink, and they aren't harmful to people. >> all right. time now is 5:19. weather-wise it's been warm the past few days. >> yeah, unless you are a couple miles from the coast you are not experiencing the sea breeze. kind of dreary at the shoreline. but we will manage to see a little sun fourth of the golden gate today. if you need heat relieve but still want the sun and sea breeze, perhaps around point raise, a little clearing yesterday in marin county otherwise san mateo coast will be socked in. we are looking at a nice, long day today with the sun setting at 8:32. and also a giants game. so looking pretty nice for that. the fog does make a comeback. so starting out right now, this is the golden gate bridge where

there is certainly some fog. you may need your wipe freers time to time. 57 in san francisco. good morning mountain view, 61 degrees. we have more 60s out in the east bay valleys where right now numbers are kind of mild. morgan hill 55. 58 in oakland. right now looking at the airport where no problems here. looks pretty good. 59 by the delta. it's clear in concord, 60. 63 in livermore and we have more in the way of low clouds toward napa and santa rosa this morning in the mid-50s. here is the cloud footprint this morning. it is right along the coast. you see the sunshine in the east bay valleys but then the fog once again sets up from san mateo up through main. but it begins to peel back just a little bit by the latter afternoon. but not in time to cap any of the temperatures inland. so the numbers will be once again, pretty warm, in the 90s here. then we will get more of a sea breeze come sunday afternoon. so we will talk about our patchy

fog, mild conditions overnight. it will be hot again today and a little cooler as we step into the second half of the weekend into next week. the high pressure sitting right overhead. and as that happens we are looking at the lighter winds inland, and you have to be right along the coast to get that sea breeze. so as this shifts a little closer to the east, tomorrow we will see more in the way of cooling. and the sea breeze allowing for temperatures to come down about 2 or 4 degrees for your sunday afternoon. so highs today, look at the south bay. wow. really warm out there with mid-90s from morgan hill. 92 gilroy. look for 85 today in santa clara. closer to the bay 84 milpitas and sunnyvale. on the peninsula more low 80s for palo alto and redwood city. up in the hills pretty warm at 86. but right along the coast we have the fog from pacifica to half moon bay. san francisco, it should be a nice day.

abc7news.com/apps. another summer like spread today. >> i think i want to head to santa cruz. >> good idea. >> lisa, thank you. turning to other news of the day. a massachusetts woman who was seriously hurt when a broken bat flew into the stands at fenway park last week has been released from the hospital. they described her recovery was excellent and say she's getting stronger every day. it happened june 5th at a game between the boston red sox and oakland a's. a piece of the bat hit her in the head and she suffered critical injuries. the player sent her flowers and it sent a smile to her face. they are now reviewing safety at the fenway stadium. coming up a hollywood heartthrob is facing arrest and the charges he is facing.

agreement to level the playing field for our workers, open new markets, and hold other countries to the high standards that americans are proud to hold ourselves to here at home. >> president obama also chastised the house for excusing to extend the trade initiative that he said will provide job training for tense of thousands of workers. and nancy pelosi was one representative when went against president obama because she feels the initiative doesn't go far enough. she rejected the key part of the president's ambitious trade package yesterday. she and other democrats were not swayed by the president's last minute rush to capitol or by an appearance at thursday night's congressional baseball game. it was a rare sign of desperation who reached across the aisle to align himself with republicans on the deal. he said more must be done for america workers. >> bigger paychecks, better

>> welcome back, everyone. the time right now is 5:42. we are taking a live look from our emeryville camera points at the san francisco skyline. you can see traffic moving smoothly on both portion ares of the bay bridge this morning. no major traffic incidents to report according to the chp. now to an unusual site in the east bay. goats gone wild. take a look at this video posted by the berkeley live on facebook. you can see an entire herd of goats released in response to the drought. he said they are natural lawnmowers eating about ten pounds of vegetation per day leaving less dry grass that can

forecast coming up with lisa argen just moments away. researchers at u.c. berkeley believe they can make a fashion statement more environmentally friendly. it has to do with blue jeans. if they are successful the next pair you buy could be greener. we have the story. >> there's no doubting america's love affair with blue jeans. in fact manufacturers turn out roughly 3 balance pairs a year. but producing that indigo blue also comes with a major environmental challenge. disposing of a toxic chemical used in the dies process. >> you simply throw it in streams, which is done in many dying facilities, it kills the fish and other aquatic life. >> to clean up the process this researcher and his team set out to make indigo guy in a new and different way. instead of the new petroleum

ferment it and spin out the native die without the pollution. >> we would like to be able to make the whole production chain fees able to do in california. >> and perhaps ushering in a new error are cleaner greener jeans. eric thomas, abc7 news. 5:48, the time. some parts of the bay area waking up to fog but it seems like it's okay right now? >> yeah. a lot of the fog is just clinging to the coast and slightly over the bay. you see it behind us here. we look for it to clear back to the shoreline today. yesterday was pretty foggy at our beaches. that provided a nice breeze for most of you around or close to the bay. but not so much inland. and once again today we will see some subtle changes to that trend with slightly cooler weather on tap for your sunday afternoon. the 1500-foot marine layer allowing for the low clouds and fog to create mist and drizzle right at the shoreline. a nice looking view from the

east bay hills camera atop vollmer peak. this is mt. diablo. temperatures are mild over in the east bay. mild in the south bay from mountain view to san jose. it will be another warm day here in the mid-80s. and some slight cooling as we head toward tomorrow for some. more so on monday. you will notice though, it is comfortable cool oakland and fran in the upper 50s. here's the shot from the roof camera. it's cloudy here. 60 and clear in concord. livermore a mild 63 degrees with mid-50s and some fog up to the north from petaluma to napa this morning. it will take some time for the marine layer to clear back in the north bay. notice the footprint there a little more widespread in marin. by the afternoon plenty of sunshine. like yesterday the fog did pull away from point reyes. that should happen again today. but right around the richmond and the sunset and the rest of the san mateo coast should be

area. let's look at livermore. you were hot the past couple of days. another day today in the 90s. but you do cool off tomorrow some and then look at monday. it should be the coolest day. there's your rebound i spoke of. on tuesday and wednesday with numbers back up into the mid-90s. but we will be looking for a comfortable day today around the bay. 74 oakland, 78 san mateo, mid-60s from half moon bay. look for 88 up in san rafael and santa rosa. low 90s to mid-90s returning for livermore and concord today. so if you are coming into the city for that 4:15 game, it should be a beautiful day at&t park. 4:15. 68 degrees and the sun sets at 8:30. numbers dropping through the 60s with the west wind at about 15. so notice the slight cooling trend for the second half of your weekend. it continues into monday and then a slow drop off on tuesday. looks warm again on wednesday. pretty afternoon thursday and friday. so if you follow the ebb and flow of the fog, you have the forecast.
