san francisco police are evacuating residents near fifth and mission streets right now. abc 7 news reporter is on scene and has the details. >> reporter: within the last two minutes, san francisco police department's bomb squad pulled in. we are told by police that this is reports of a suspicious vehicle they are investigating between fifth street or on fifth street between mission and market. and a gentleman who was in this area tells me that the vehicle is down an alley way in about the 400 block of stephenson street according to police. they have not told us why they are concerned about this vehicle or if there are any people around it, but they have investigating a suspicious vehicle, and we have some muni

this afternoon. he was taken by his mother, police say, and was found in newark about an hour ago. our reporter is live with the very latest for us. >> reporter: i was just told a few seconds ago by the child's father that the police are going to be bringing the child here to the sunnyvale police department, that he is going to be coming here very shortly to pick up his child. let's go ahead and show you a little bit about who we're telling you about. little trinian was taken by his mother following a visitation meeting. we were with the father when he found out his child is safe and in police custody. he tells us officers found the child with the mother in the east bay and both are in police custody. the boy got a quick medical examb1.d and in good health. >> they said they found my son

7 news. >> that is definitely good news. a diver suffered life-threatening injuries after he slammed into three other cars in san francisco today. abc 7 news was on the scene shortly after the crash. the driver hit three parked cars and one went into cafe roma which was closed today. >> he came so fast. he was actually out of control. he was fishtailing, really really out of control. and i heard like a bomb. it sounded like a bomb explosion. and then i saw the cars flying and glass everywhere. >> no one other than the driver was injured. a 3-year-old boy drowned today in the background swimming pool in vallejo. it happened after 4:00 this morning on california street. he was playing in the yard of the home when he fell into the pool. a family member found the boy, pulled him out, completed cpr and called 911.

police believe it is an accident. a stubborn grass fire burned 5 acres and joke out around 11:00 on creek view drive. damage was done to the roof of one home. crews were able to get control of the fire quickly, left the scene and were called back twice when the winds rekindled the smoke and flames. >> some were getting ready to pull their garden hoses out, but the fire department came. their roof got some embers on it. >> neighbors are trying to figure out how to clean up the brush on the hill behind the homes. today's warm and windy weather did not help firefighters. >> the winds were gusting over 30 miles per hour in a lot of spotting and those winds you're not seeing as many 90s as we saw yesterday. around the bay it's in the 60s and 70s.

rollercoaster. it used to be called top gun. a hayward man climbed over a fence and was kicked in the head by a rider. a year later a boy fell to his death after slipping from the ride's restraints, and a 4-year-old boy drowned in the boomerang bay in the wave pool. a man's family says anger over losing custody of his son is what triggered a deadly rampage against police in texas. the sound of gunfire erupted outside dallas headquarters early this morning. james bullware shot at the vehicles and their offices. they chased him to a nearby city where a sniper killed him. bullware's father shed light on his feelings. >> was he a perfect person? no. none of us are. but did he deserve to lose his son? >> a bomb squad later blew up the armored van driven by the suspect because bullware said it

was full of explosives. police say they have no new leads eight days after two convicted murderers escaped from a prison in new york state. a worker now is facing charges accused of helping them break out. bart's inspection is wrapping up. right now trains are not running around coliseum station. it's the last of major closures. it has caused quite a mess on the road today. peoplei-80 to get into the city. can you see some of the lanes are moving a little slowly there, but there's not too many cars on the road. so that is good. bart service will resume tomorrow at 8:00 in plenty of time for the warriors game. the nba finals resume when the warriors host the cavaliers in game five at oracle arena. both teams practiced today.

police evacuating residents near fifth and mission streets in san francisco right now. our abc news reporter is there at the scene with an update. >> reporter: within the last half hour we've seen san francisco police's bomb squad set up. i want to give ah live look behind me. that's the scene unfolding, and we have seen several k-9 units out sniffing the area. and if we take some video, i can show you a better, closer look of the scene. we're told the suspicious vehicle is down the 400 block of stephenson. that is kind of a side street off of fifth. and police have fifth blocked between market and mission street. now all we've been told by police at this point is that it is a suspicious vehicle. they have had an evacuated the area. this is a very busy part of the city. there are lots of bars and restaurants in the area. and you have a lot of tourists staying at hotels in this area. so at this point they have escorted a few of those phones
