the golden state warriors are the 2015 nba champions. >> the 40-year wait is over. the celebration is on. >> world champs. >> we got a team full of believers. >> it is hard to put in words. >> the golden state warriors are nba champions. >> oh good times. good evening and thank you for joining us. i'm ama daetz. i'm dan ashley. we begin with the nba champions. the golden state warriors and fans went into full party mode shortly after the final buzzer. >> in oakland sky 7hd shows fans jumping on cars. you can see right there setting off fireworks in the middle of the street. police were in force nearby to make sure the celebration didn't get out of hand. >> in san francisco the crowd grew quickly after the game ended. they danced and cheered in the middle of the street in the mission district. police were there to keep the crowd under control. >> and now let's take a live look from oakland from above. this is from sky 7hd. the crowd is still rocking there in the middle of the

street at 14th and broadway. >> we have live team coverage with reporters. >> we start with sports director larry beil. larry, it went down to the wire. >> it looked like the game was over, and then -- >> the blood pressure okay? >> it is fine right now. steph curry and company ended a drought that seemed like eternity. finishing off the cavs in game six of the finals. 105-97. the cavs were sloppy early and it killed them. 13 turnovers and the warriors make them pay. barbosa with the steal and curry with the sweet lefty lay in. they were up 13 after one quarter. y go do law with authority. warrior defense was terrific. steph with a steal. the dunk again on a 16-4 run.

they splashed down -- he went down after steph missed the three and put back the follow. 105-97 as steph and company defeat lebron james and the cavaliers and the trophy belongs to the golden state warriors. mike shumann had the fun of covering this team throughout the playoffs and joins us live in cleveland. shu? >> larry it was quite a moment to watch these guys. a band of brothers. what a team effort from management down to the players. and andre iguadala was named the mvp. a former starter benched and came back and started the last two games. i talked to him about his mvp trophy. >> how does it feel? >> i can't stop saying how blessed we are. it is a long season. it felt like it was never going to end. we took every game one game at a time.

overnight. the dub nation is pumped and this celebration shows no sign of stoping. abc7 news. >> that guy is maybe a fan for an hour now. >> alan wang has been hanging with the fans outside oracle and has more on the celebrations. hi alan. >> hi, ama. the party has drifted toward katie and away from us. these fans came here fully expecting to win an nba championship and that's exactly what they got. >> thousands poured into the plaza where a dj was set up in anticipation of an nba championship celebration. the confidence in this town has been over flowing since the beginning of the nba playoffs. the fireworks were loaded and the parade preparations were set. all they needed was a victory and that's what they got tonight. a lot of people headed to the

team's store where the championship gear is being sold. the store expects to be sold out by midnight, but they hillary stock and be open tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. the warrior store is also open until midnight. meanwhile fans here are still celebrating. >> how long have you waited for a championship? >> 40 years! >> with a team like that we were confident. >> it was crazy. i cried. i am not proud of that but it was emotional. >> yeah! we won. we won! we won! >> being hugged by complete strangers out here. the celebrating is still going on. alan wang reporting live at oracle arena, abc7 news. >> it is just so much fun.

let's switch across the bay. in san francisco there is a heavy police presence keeping an eye on the party in the mission district. a lot of people are out on the streets. chris wynn will breng us more on that in a few minutes. at last report in mission district no real problems. tons of people in the street. hundreds of them. let's go back to cleveland and laura anthony who was at the q as it is called with fans and steph curry's family. >> hi, dan. the q is rather quiet at this hour. these folks had their t-shirts and their rally towels. none of it mattered as it was clear in the last few seconds of the championship that it was going home with the warriors. >> warriors! warriors!

>> we have been here for all three games here in cleveland. we have to tell you that tonight's crowd the warrior fans here are the biggest we have seen. most congregated behind the warrior bench. a lot of family members of the players, most notably the curry family have been with steph all along. here is what they told us after the game. >> it is absolutely wonderful, absolutely wonderful. let's go warriors, world champions! >> it is awesome. it is unbelievable. i'm so proud of those guys. the best team from start to finish. >> i feel great. super excited. >> we did it. >> after their celebration in the locker room the players

balcony. lilian kim is live in berkeley with the latest on this tragedy. lilian? >> dan the balcony has been removed, but the area is still blocked off. this is where people have been leaving candles and flowers. a growing memorial to the 13 men and women who suffered a horrific fall. ireland's consul general and berkeley's mayor laid down two wreaths in honor of the students. they called it the most difficult day. >> there is a greater tragedy than we experienced here last evening. >> 9-1-1 emergency. >> we are on kittering street and a balance con fee just collapsed! >> 13 people were on this balcony for a 21st birthday party. suddenly it gave way after midnight. they fell 50 feet to the sidewalk. >> i saw a lot of bodies, 12. too much to count.

it was a lot to look at. >> six people died and seven others were injured. most were irish students on j1 visas here to work for the summer. news of the tragedy spread qekly. other irish students not at the party woke up to frantic messages from their parents. >> she said are you okay? please message me now. i'm worried about you. >> mourners have been leaving behind flowers near where the balcony collapsed. it is unclear what caused it to fall but the president of the structural engineers of california expects decay. >> it is wood rot steel, rust concrete allows water to intrude into that. >> theories what may have happened to a building not even 10 years old. the loip -- lone american killed in the crash is ashley donohoe. her cousin was from ireland. three men and two women and all were 21 years of age. seven people are being treated

at three hospitals and four at eden medical center in castro veil and two in walnut creek and three are at highland hospital. >> building inspectors have been there trying to protect other residents and figure out what happened. one engineer tells dan noyes he knows what happened and why. >> this is the balcony at library gardens before it collapsed. here is telling video i shot today. he has been a civil structural engineer and he says it is clear what happened. >> the main if not the only cause 69 -- cause of the problem is the dry rot of the material which is caused by the water intrusion. >> when a deck gives way due to dry rot it does not just snap and fall it bends before the break. >> it keeps rotating like this.

until the stress is too much and it flips. >> that explains why the balcony landed upside down on the deck below throwing the victims on to the sidewalk. at the news conference building officials say the project fell under the 1998 guidelines of 60 pounds per square foot. this deck should have easily held all of those young people at the party. >> i consider 14 people at an average of run -- 150 pounds well within the design load for which they were designed at the time. >> dry rot was responsible for a deck collapse in san francisco during a cocktail party in 1996. one woman lost her life and 14 others were injured. i will watch out for the documents and let you know what they reveal. i want to talk to the construction company about their work. this building is not that old and finished eight yeast ago.

well, the battle of best team versus best player was decided. the warriors finished off lebron james in game six of the nba finals. lebron had the laser focus

before the game. he went for 32 points. if you can be disappointing and get 32 that's what it is. the steal and steph with a lefty finish. warriors up eight. lebron with a miss. tristan thompson with a tip slam. golden state up by two. the red sea parts and lay bron went the -- lebron went the wrong way. steph, no look dish. iguadala dunks again. what a move to put him in the starting lineup. off the bench with 10 points in 11 minutes. in the fourth quarter he has a hard time shooting free throws, but hits the three's. steph had 25. klay thompson in fable trouble, only 5 points but a dagger 3 to put him up. 105-97 and warriors take the series 4-2.
