after a driver sped on to a crowded sidewalk killing a woman and injuring five other people. tonight another pedestrian was hit not far from the deadly collision. good evening. i'm katie and dan and ama have the night off. the first crash happened at a bus stop near redwood street. alan wang is live at the scene. alan? >> this is a hit-and-run that happened about an hour ago. a man and his dog were struck by a car just about a half mile away from here on this very same road. then about 3 ooment 30 earlier today a car hoped up on this curb and swiped a man who was sitting at the bus stop and struck his shopping cart and ran down a group of five people on the sidewalk killing one. >> i was sitting here minding my own business. >> he jumped a curb and over the sidewalk and ran over his feet while he was waiting for a bus. >> i am lucky to be alive. >> police say the car drove

between these two poles and struck a group of five people from behind. three women and two children including a 4-year-old girl and 4-year-old boy. >> i heard all of this screaming in the -- the car aimed right at him. there is no way they could get away. it was terrible. >> police say the driver dragged two of the women under his car leaving a trail of belongings. a passing tow truck stopped and lifted the car off the women. one of them died. police say she is the mother of the 4-year-old girl. >> a lot of people out here crying and screaming. >> police are investigating witness accounts that the 65-year-old driver was slumped over the wheel at a traffic light and then took off abruptly when the other car started honking. >> the officers are trying to determine that this is a medical condition. she is actually going to be released very soon. we are not making an arrest this evening. >> he showed no obvious signs

democratic committee fundraisers. sergio is live at the inter continental hotel where the president is staying tonight. sergio? >> katie, this is the president's 21st visit to the san francisco bay area but his conversations were dominated by this week's events in charleston, south carolina. >> president obama was in town for the u.s. conference of mayors in this forum with the city leaders from across the country. his thoughts are with the citizens of charleston, south carolina and the latest mass murder at the hands of a gunman. >> you don't see murder on this kind of scale with this kind of frequency in any other advanced nation on earth. >> he urged the mayors to return in rally reforms that would curb gun violence in america. following the meetings with the mayors two fundraisers including one at the sea cliff neighborhood home of the hedge fund billionaire. neighbors have seen him here before and this time security was tight.

this video just in of that hit-and-run crash in vallejo that left a man and his dog injured. police are telling us the man suffered nonlife-threatening injuries but his dog is badly hurt. this happened a half mile from another accident.

we'll have updates on twitter at abc7 news bay area. the suspected it mass murderer came face-to-face with his alleged victim's families today. dylann roof has been charged with nine counts of murder. he is accused of opening fire on a bible study group. the abc news reporter marcy gonzalez has more from charleston, south carolina. >> tonight that song capturing the community's response to tragedy. "amazing grace" shown by thousands of mourners and joining tonight to share tears and prayers. >> if that young man thought he was going to divide this community or divide this country with his racial hatred he failed. >> that was proven in the courtroom. here through the rawness of their pain the families of some of the 9 people gunned down in this historic black church just two days earlier sharing these astounding words with the accused killer.

up to about 91 in gilroy. on the peninsula upper 70s from redwood city. upper 50s with the presence of fog. downtown san francisco with a high of 64. 60 in the sunset district. in the north bay there are highs in the north bay valleys from midto upper 80s from santa rosa to calistoga. 75 at union city. 80sin walnut creek and concord and livermore. so the summer solstice arrives at 9:38. it will be father's day on sunday and a mild day, but not as warm as saturday. the highs in the mid80s in our inland areas on sunday. further cooling on monday and then the temperatures will rise again to more summer like levels wednesday and thursday and friday. by the end of the week highs in the midto upper 90s in the inland communities. >> thanks spencer.

amazing video from florida shows three waterspouts off the coast of fort lauderdale. they lasted about an hour. they had winds 65 to 85 miles an hour and they did not cause any damage. although departing flights at the nearby airport had to adjust take qof. a kitten had to be rescued after crawling inside a tesla in texas. he heard the kitten meowing and tracked it to the motor compartment. they could not lure out the cat so he had to take it to a shop where they opened up the bottom of the car. she was named tessie. the owner of the tesla has welcomed tessie into his family's home. very sweet. >> can i say it maiden gyre purr -- made the engine purr.
