♪ da da da da ♪ ♪ da...♪ sorry brenda. crystal geyser. bottled at the mountain source. da da da. live from the kgo-tv broadcast center this is abc7 news. >> good morning. i am kristen sze. cheryl jennings is on assignment. the contra costa sheriff is preparing to issue an upstate open a highway 4 shootings, with two people killed in the same area in less than a week. janet o is in bay point with the latest. janet? >> the sheriff has been pretty tightlipped about the two shootings but they are about to hold a news conference to address if the saturday shooting and last night's shooting are connected in may and to update us on if there are any arrests made in the two cases. what they are saying is the two

shootings appear to be gang-related. we know that two people were shot last night near san marco boulevard and highway 4 in bay point. deputies found several bullet casings. the victims arrived at john muir in conquer. one of the two victims has died. the area near the hospital was proposed off including the victim's car with bullet hopes. the shots came from a silver car with a broken window. less than a week ago 20-year-old thomas men disease was shot and -- tomas mendez was shot and killed in the same area. he worked as a cook alongside his father at katie's corner restaurant and leaves behind a two-year old daughter. as you can see they are setting up now to talk about the two shootings, the one on saturday and the shooting from last night. you can watch the news conference streaming on abc7news.com. >> breaking news right now in san jose: firefighters have just

knock down a car fire in the south part of the city. sky 7 is over the scene right now west of 101. under the tree you can see the burned out shell of a van, a bit of smoke could be seen in the sky in had area so watch out. it seems the fire did not spread beyond the van. it looks like it is under control. >> also the west dublin pleasanton bart station just re-opened after being closed for several hours. sky was over the scene when a person was found under a train. trains were system tracked through the station without stopping causing big delays during the morning commute. the west dublin pleasanton bart station people, is open. >> benicia police are searching for a driver who lit a pedestrian early sunday morning and took off. that pedestrian is a young man who is clinging to life. eric thomas is at the scene.

eric? >> the young victim is all of 23 years old. early sunday morning about 2:30 he was coming from this bar in benicia and as he crossed the street he was hit. he suffered severe head injuries and currently is in intensive care at john muir trauma center at walnut creek and in an induced coma. the driver left the scene not stopping to even see how bad off torres was and this is not the kind of intersection where these things happen. investigators are asking for the public's help. here is what they are looking for. >> it is an early 2000 model silver or grave nissan ultima missing the left rear hubcap. >> tragedy a man working an extra job having a cold beer when he got work at 12:30. in the bling of an eye it

70 miles per hour wind ripped across the area leaving hundreds of thousands without power. >> in the bay area, we are open our way to record temperatures. meteorologist mike nicco joins us from the roof with a look at who will be sweltering. mike? >> it will be hot the next couple of days. here is what is going on outside right now: you can see the sunshine behind me and the temperatures. our spread spread is 57 at half moon bay, and 60 in san francisco, and not bad in oakland, 63, and 73 in san rose and san jose 70s, and san ramon almost 80 degrees already. the temperatures are close to where we were yesterday, so i hope you liked yesterday. we will end up in the same ballpark if not a couple degrees warmer inland but it is tomorrow that i want to focus in on. that is where we will have the hottest temperatures the most packed in temperatures at 17 degrees warmer-than-average in concord and 101 and ten degrees warmer in san jose at 91 and san francisco and oakland not so bad four and six degrees warmer-than-average.

a lot of folks wish they had a slide like that. >> exactly. that is why we still have some on the parks inland to keep us cool. we need to go through. that looks fantastic and fun. the next 24 hours we will start with this afternoon 63 to 96 and the summer spread with a few clouds at the coast and it will be more comfortable to head outside this evening, 60 at the coast to 70 inland. overnight, you can get the clean and cool air to come in, 47 to 62 is the spread tomorrow morning. this is what happened this morning the sea breeze kicked up and the manner layer was taller so it climbed over the east bay hills into the east bay valley and it is no match for the strong sunshine and the warm air that is coming up from the desert southwest and taking over our neighborhood especially tomorrow. right now you can see the sea breeze is not what it was year, only 17 miles per hour in fairly. the national weather service believes it will pick up at 3:00 this afternoon through 9:00 so

evening commutes across the bay water could be choppy with the southwest winds at 21 to 33 miles per hour and they believe the winds will pick up along the coast with small craft advisory until 9:00 this evening, and they will come out of the northwest at 21 to 33 notes and multiply that by 1.15 for miles per hour. the clouds are clipping to the peninsula coast and everyone else is clearing nicely. we have not had a single "spare the air" yet and today we will not either, or tomorrow with the hottest temperatures. overnight, it will be comfortable, so when it is hot tomorrow know that when the sun sets, it is over and we will be back to average by the weekend. here is a look at what is happening, high pressure over the pacific is keeping us relatively clear at the coast but it is the high on the right side of the scene to focus in on that will, with the clockwise flow bring 9 heat up from the desert to our south. what will it do? give us nearly 90 in gilroy, mid-to-upper 80s los gatos and gilroy and low 80s for the

rest of the south bay with san jose and cupertino at 82 and we will flirt with 80 in los altos, and redwood city and 70 in millbrae and low-to-mid 60s on the peninsula to nearly 70 in downtown, south san francisco and sausalito so you do not need a jack secret for lunch. mid-to-upper 80s through the north bay and santa rosa, calistoga north, at least 30 to 35 degrees warmer than the coast with low-to-mid 90s there. 72 at richmond and oakland and san leandro 74. in the low-to-mid 90s for most of our inland east bay neighborhoods and if you are going to the county fair alameda, 87 at 3:00, and dropping to 65 in the evening hours. it will be cooler and more comfortable in petaluma where the sonoma marin fair kicks off with the ugliest dog in the world contest with temperatures in the 80s. took one on chin yesterday but we will try this evening at at&t park, 62 at 7:15 dropping down to 58. triple digits inland east bay tomorrow, with parts of the bay
