condition. this was a dangerous fire and it could have been a lot worse if not for the help of two good mayor is tans. >> the hand prints on the window of the apartment complexion in san jose tell the story of the terrifying moments for two young children. firefighters say just after 8:00 this morning flames and smoke in the kitchen forced the boy and girl believed to be between the aims of ten and 13 to take extreme measures. they jumped about 15' to the ground, they had serious burns and possible broken bones. they were taken to the burn units at valley medical center. on the other side of the apartment a courtyard and the front door where two neighbors jumped into action. >> i ran to the apartment and tried to break out the door. >> a man injured his hand breaking the case of a fire extinguisher. an 18-year-old was there with him and break the windshield the apartment and used extinguisher

space, clear the brush and debris around your home. >> the united states forest service is calling on law enforcement agencies in san bernardino county to look out for any drones flying through the restricted airspace this. last night, crews battling the 23,000 acre lake fire were forced to land all firefighting aircraft after a drone was spotted. for pilots running into a dream would be as dangerous as a bird strike. >> a flight went down in new york and landed in hudson that was due to run into a bird h is no difference than a birds. we don't want that going through our engine and props and running into our helicopter. >> they say the drone was 4' wide and officials say they are extra dangerous because they are not able to communicate with the person flying them. >> a landmark ruling from the highest court in the land on h

care. on the steps of the united states supreme court in the washington, dc, in the 6-3 vote the justices upheld a key part of the affordable health care act allowing the government to provide nationwide tax subsidies to help poor and middle class people buy health insurance. >> today after more than 50 votes in congress to repeal or weaken this law after a presidential election based in part on preserving or repealing this law after multiple challenges to this law before the supreme court the affordable care act is here to stay. >> for the major, chief justice john problems wrote congress passed the affordable care act to improve the markets not to destroy them on the conserve five judge scalia called the majority roping quite absurd. >> the supreme court this morning did not issue a ruling on same-sex marriage the justices are reviewing legal

challenges in four state: michigan, ohio, tennessee and kentucky. if no discussion is made tomorrow it will likely come on monday. >> happening now the district attorney in alameda county is talking into the investigation of the deadly balcony collapse in berkeley. six young people were killed and seven injured during the accident. the district attorney wants to know if anything was criminal in nature the city said the balconies wooden bams had severe dry rot caused by moisture but the building was current on all inspections. january it o is at the news conference and you can follow her on twitter for the latest developments. >> california assembly passed a bill that requires vaccinations for children. the bill would require vaccinations for all schoolchildren even if their parents object for personal beliefs. the bill returns to the senate for a full vote and if it passes it will head to the governor's desk. >> bart has good news about the

underground station bathrooms that were shut down after the september 11th attacks. the bathrooms could finally, re-open to the public. elissa harrington joins with the story. >> bart's board of directors the discussion the proposal on what it would take to re-open the bath reals to provide relief and to discourage illegal activity. >> this used to be men's room at bart at embarcadero station in san francisco. it hasn't been a real bathroom since one 21. now, it is used for storage. restrooms at all underground stations have been closed since the 9/11 attacks. bart officials are thinking about finally re-opening them. >> how do you accommodate people who really need to go to the bath rome but make sure that there is no potential for a terrorist activity? the undergrounds are closed because of the fact that you can imagine the force of something

>> dramatic carjacking southern california caught on camera. the carjacker takes off with two little girls inside and the quick thinking ten-year-old grabbed the baby sister and leap out. both suffered minor injuries. witnesses describe the terrifying moments after the car took off. >> we can hear her screaming no no no. >> the police are looking for a man seen making a purchase in the 7-eleven before the carjacking on sunday. >> there is a review of the safety of a birth control implant after reports of north bound side effects some parents say after using the contraception device they experience fatigue depression and weight gain. the device was approved pit f.d.a. in 2002. the f.d.a. said the problems have not been established in the studies but will look into the complaints. >> new numbers show americans

cool breezes hitting the cost right now with more clouds and comfortable for all of us this weekend and above average heat returns as quickly as monday. here is a look at the high pressure coming over the top of us and just about everywhere away from the coast we are going to see 100 degree temperatures this california and even another record up in lake tahoe today. we set one yesterday at 87 and could tie one at 90 today. this is where san jose, cupertino end up mid-to-upper 90 los gatos and morning were hill and gilroy and sunnyvale milpitas at 87. we will be pushing 90 in redwood city and a last mid-to-upper 80s on the peninsula until millbrae and the sea breeze keeps you at 7 a and we will have democrats in the mid-60s and sunset and daly city and 70s in downtown san francisco and sausalito at 77 and you head up to novato and petaluma low-to-mid 90s to 100 in cloverdale and lake port and clear lake and the east bay sure maybe too aggressive with richmond's temperature and berkeley now the sea breeze came in a couple of hours early, 70s for you and 80s for the rest of our east bay senior line
