yeah! >> cheers erupted after the landmark decision was announced. in a historic ruling 5-4 decision, the high court ended bans on gay marriage ruling same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry in america without regard to their state laws. president obama is calling it a victory for gay and lesbian couples who fought so long for bake civil rights. >> this decision affirms what millions of americans already believe in their hearts. when all americans are treated as california we are all more free. justice kennedy wrote the majority opinion saying "under the due process and equal protection clauses of the 14th amendment, couples of the same sex may not be deprive of the right and the liberty." >> calling the majority opinion

it is time to end the debate. let the wedding bells ring." san francisco's castro district was up early in anticipation of the ruling and when they heard it was time to celebrate. janet has that in the castro. >> people are now busy going about their day but they sure woke up in a great mood. you could hear honking all away town, people were carrying flags rainbow flags and everyone was out here celebrate the great news. people we talked to in the castro have been waiting if a decision like this their whole live. they just never thought they would see it in their lifetime. it is the biggest victory yet for same-sex couples fighting for marriage equality. for years. this super bowl couple has wait -- this san francisco couple has waited a long-term. >> we got up early to hear.

ohio are issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couple and others are waiting until they have to. new video into the newsroom from georgia where they issued marriage licenses to same-sex couples this morning and several weddings were already taking place. that state previously banned same-sex marriage but some states are holding off like louisiana and mississippi, where the attorney general said same-sex couples cannot get married until a federal appeals court lits a stay on same sex weddings and that could take three weeks. >> streets of san francisco are already closed as pride is underway and streets around the civic center are closed for the weekend to accommodate saturday's dyke march and deless between 18th and 20th will close for the traps march, the transgender pride event and sunday is the world famous pride parade where this could be major traffic issues with the giants having home games. >> if you are headed to san francisco for pride, the weather should be fairly pleasant and we
